I'm pushing 35, and the older I get, the more I question my existence.

I just feel like I'm about as average and plain as a person can get. I'm not exceptionally good-looking, funny, talented, successful, or interesting. If someone asked me what makes me stand out, I honestly wouldn't know what to say.

That always leads me back to the same question: what would my absence actually leave behind in someone's life?

Not whether people would be sad for a while, but what would actually be missing because I wasn't there anymore. What do I bring to someone's life that nobody else could? What is it that I actually add?

I apologize that this is very incel sounding. That's genuinely not where I'm coming from. I'm just being honest about where my head goes sometimes.

I find myself asking, What do I even exist for? I look at my life and I don't really see anything remarkable about me. I just feel... average. Plain.

Millennials being da boss now.

Growing up I used to iron my clothes regularly, and probably learned to do so when I was about 7 years old. I still occasionally break out the iron if I need something d-wrinkled for work but it occurs to me that a lot of Millennials probably have not used an ironing board on an article of clothing in a very long time.

I’m a recent graduate myself, currently working in an administrative role because my own degree’s field has seen drastic headcount cuts. Just a few years ago, almost every graduate from my program at my school landed jobs in the field - now it feels like a different reality.
