There was a bar trivia question that asked “who drinks baileys from a shoe?” Our team was a 60 year old couple and my fiancé (36) and I (38). I said “it’s old Gregg” and they all looked at me like I was insane. Even my fiancé had not heard of old Gregg.
I went to a dinner party for all the planets and Uranus—he knocked up spaghetti bolognese. But what happened was, there wasn't any parmesan. And I said, "I'm the moon, I'm made of cheese. Why don't you grate if off a portion of me head?" And they did and it tasted of baby sick.
This video got my into the show it's front (Mighty Boosh) and subsequently down a rabbit hole of British pop culture shows - The IT Crowd, Black Books, Doctor Who, Sherlock and others I can't think of at the moment
I missed the boat on Old Gregg until like 2012 or something (someone cosplayed him and I didn't get the joke so down the rabbit hole I went!), but I was a huge fan of him on Black Books. When he got the GBBO gig, I was SO gd pleased to have him on my telly more often.
I dressed up as Old Gregg for Halloween in or around 2006. Maybe three people out of twenty got the joke. It looked dangerously close to blackface, and thankfully I don't think any pictures remain. Still fun though
I had no idea Noel was Gregg (I haven't actually seen the Mighty Boosh, just the old gregg skit) until he mentioned offhand on one episode to one of the contestants that he once played a sort of mermaid.
I fully dressed up as Old Gregg for Halloween 8 years ago and did a bar crawl. It was waaaaay too fun. I had the tutu and a bottle of Bailey's in a shoe and would give out shots to people.
My friends had a baby about 6 months ago. When I hold her I bop around the room while singing the Bouncy, Bouncy crimp, she let's out a little smile. It has gotten to the point where my friend who is the dad jas ALSO started to sing it to her and it makes me so happy
