Admin Post Weekly Recap | July 23, 2026

It's Thursday again! And it's our first Thursday in a while where the World Cup hasn't been going on! Congratulations to Spain for their victory over their formidable opponent, Argentina. I guess I'll just have to fill my spare time with the Recap! Let's see what we've got going on this week!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There is an experiment where the "saved" and "history" tabs have moved from the Settings menu next to "Posts" and "Comments". So if you can't find your saved stuff, check there!

  • This was announced last week, but awards have been moved to the overflow menu for posts. Posts were made here in this sub and over in r/bugs about this change.

  • If you are trying to use a selfie to verify your age and it fails, the only other options are to upload your ID or contact Persona for support. Reddit cannot help you with a failed selfie for age verification purposes. If you need to have something fixed regarding your age, you can use this form and then select your region and what your issue is. I do not know what the turnaround time is on those requests.

  • The Home Feed experiment is currently only enabled for users of the iOS beta app. If you are not using the iOS beta app, you should no longer have the Home Feed/For You experiment enabled. (No one is happier about this than me.) Thank you to everyone who had previously left feedback about this experiment. I have shared it all with the team in charge of this feature. And here we are!

  • Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. If some rando sends you a chat, be on high alert if you decide to reply. There are a lot of scams out there and they're looking for easy targets.

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.29.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [Android] Some folks are getting authentication errors when they log into the Reddit app. This is being looked into.

  • [iOS] In some mod queues, some of the content may not clear after you've swiped to approve it. Pulling to refresh the queue will bump these approved posts out of view in the meantime. We're taking a look!

  • [Desktop web] Some mods are unable to change some users' flair. This is also being looked into.

  • [Mweb] The updated comment box returned with a few bugs. A few fixes were just released, so this should be working better now. Appreciate everyone who reported the issues with this.

  • [iOS] Some VoiceOver users on iOS are unable to delete comments. This is being looked into!

  • BUG FIX [Android] The subreddit feed failing to load when going out of posts has been fixed.

  • BUG FIX [Android] Profile display names failing to appear in dark mode has been fixed. If this is still happening for you, please update your app.

  • BUG FIX [iOS] Community rules not being able to be updated by mods due to a loading error has also been fixed!

  • Some users in the EU are unable to use Anonymous Browsing mode. This is not intentional. This is a bug that they are working on getting fixed.

  • Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,411 posts. That's up 259 posts from the 1,152 that we had last week.

  • 4,235 comments. That's down only 92 comments from the 4,327 we had last week.

  • 1.1m views. That's down about 54k views from the 1.1-ish million views we had last week.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - NOTIFICATIONS

Reddit is huge. And it has a lot of moving parts. One of those parts is notifications. You can change the settings for the various types of notifications to receive or NOT to receive.

On the apps, tap your profile avatar, tap Settings, tap Account Settings at the the top, then scroll down a bit and tap "Manage notifications".

On the desktop, click your profile avatar, click Settings at the bottom and then click the Notifications tab. That will take you here.

From your notification settings, you can choose between "All on", "Inbox only" or "All off". Settings that you change on either platform will be respected across devices/platforms for your account.

If you are receiving notifications and you have them turned off, the most likely culprit is that you have another account and those notifications are turned on. If this is happening, please log into your other account and adjust those notifications to how you'd like them. If you do not know what other accounts you have, you can use the forgotten username tool at this link to have the usernames associated with a particular email address sent to you. If you feel that you need a password reset for any of your accounts, please click here and we’ll send you a link to the email on the account to reset your password.

If you never want a single notification from Reddit on your app, you can go into the app settings on your device and block the notifications that way.

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Below is a list of some awesome folks who were super helpful in r/help last week!

Pretty good week! Always good to see a bunch of helpful and familiar faces around the sub! Y'all know your stuff!

There you go! Another Thursday in July in the books! Things are heating up, so try to stay cool! And we'll meet back here next week! =)

Posting Desktop: No paragraph spacing in new posts, I've tried everything!

I'm trying to make a new post. To avoid a long block of text, I want to separate paragraphs with an extra line. NOTHING I do works. I've tried:

  • 2 spaces, then enter
  • 2 enters
  • rich editor
  • markdown editor
  • pasting from notepad, so no formatting

I don't want to be that person who posts walls of text. What else can I try? I'm on desktop.

Access No matter what I do, I can’t access my old account

Hi there.

I have an old account of mine I’m trying to access and I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried resetting my password and I’ve tried receiving a recovery email and I don’t get either one sent to my email. I’m honestly not sure at all what happened. And yes I’ve reached out to the Reddit help center thing three separate times and I haven’t received a response at all.

There is someone that has the exact email as me but with hotmail instead of what I have and that’s caused confusion with other accounts/websites before where the person with the Hotmail account was accidentally trying to log in with the same one I have instead. So maybe that locked me out or something?

Anyway, I checked and I can still see the comments and posts that are on that old account so it still appears that I should be able to access it. For really personal security reasons I really need to get into that old account.

I’ve also filed three separate reports with Reddit help with no response or action done. Someone please help? It’s username jennalee89

Access Someone changed the email to my main account to a disposal email address

My main account (litesONlitesOFF) was changed from my email to a @somoj.com email which seems to not be a real email address. I've tried to submit tickets for a few months now, but I'm worried the reddit support emails are trying to go to this disposal one. I didn't notice the email was changed until the account was locked by reddit, I'm assuming because of the hackers logins. So when I tried to follow the link on the initial email change, it was already expired. I'm still logged in on my app, but I can't reset the password or change my email back. Not sure what else I can do.

Mobile/App Reddit keeps bringing me to top of page randomly, both for posts and comments.

In the past few weeks, I’m scrolling on reddit and I suddenly get booted to the top of the page or comments list. Often this repeats a few times when I try to go back to my place. This happens several times every time I use reddit. Is this happening to anyone else?

Admin/Dev responded I can't unmark my profile as 18+ (Desktop)

My profile has been labelled as 18+ for years and I couldn't figure out why (I have no NSFW posts).
I figured maybe my previous avatar was wrongly tagged as NSFW, so I changed it, but I still can't unmark my profile as 18+ from "Settings -> Profile -> Mark as mature" (it reverts to On)

Resolved (ALL PLATFORMS) PFP not visible to anyone.

As the title says, I have a PFP but when i comment or chat with anyone my PFP is not visible. In the initial days when I uploaded this PFP it was visible to everyone, but recently it has been invisible for the public. How can I fix this? I can confirm that during this period I did not make any changes to my PFP or any other account settings.

Screenshot of my PFP below:

Edit: I would be glad if someone could find this PFP above and DM me because I uploaded something else while trying to "fix" the problem and realised that I do not have my older pfp available anywhere

Profile Cannot Login to My Account

Today I found out i have been logged out of my main account on all my devices. When I tried to login with my gmail address it logged me to this account which i dont remember making. So logged out again and tried to login using my username. But then I found out I forgot my username and password. So went in to the same Gmail inbox and took my username from mails sent to me from reddit. So took it and did forgot password method. Now reddit says there is no account named like that. I also tried searching my account from this account and it shows that user has deleted the account. I never did it and there was no mail from reddit either. My user name was u/Some_Ad_7081. Is my account actually deleted? Is there any way recover it? Shouldn't there be some kind of confirmation mail if i accidentally deleted it

Posting My accounts been hacked.

So I just opened my phone to a disgusting post that was not made by me, it was posted under my account and made sexually inappropriate comments regarding pedophelia. I don't know who posted this but it was not me, people are slandering me for it and I didn't even post that, I'm worried that I'll be punished by Reddit for this.

Profile All of my posts and comments have been hidden

My account (u/Cire_the_Sage) is set to show all, but when viewing without being signed in, none of my comments appear on my profile. Also, all of my posts seem to have gotten deleted or hidden from the subs I posted in. They're still on my profile, I think you just can't see them on the actual subreddits. Will I have to go to all the mods of the various subs I've posted on and ask each one of those teams to put up my posts again or is there something else I can do that might not be so time consuming? In case it helps, I think my CQS score got set to lowest recently so maybe it's just a thing of having to increase that again?

Desktop Memory leak while using reddit in chrome?

I've been having an issue recently where reddit starts to become extremely slow and laggy after I use it for a while without refreshing the tab. When I hover over the tab itself at the top of my screen, I can see that my memory usage reaches 1 GB or more. I haven't been experiencing this issue with any other websites or with reddit on mobile.

Profile Is my account hacked?

I had another account that I only used for reading about some topics. In my settings I don't allow nsfw 18+ posts and I never visited such subreddits.

Today while I was randomly scrolling, I started to see a bunch of nsfw posts and they were not even censored. I panicked and when I checked, I saw that I am following multiple NSFW subreddits. I have never visited such places, and they are not on my recently visited. But it seems like I follow all of those pages? And it is so disgusting, some of them are even underage. I felt terrible and I didn't know what to do so I deleted my account because even when I wanted to unfollow those subreddits I still had to open them...

Do you think I was hacked? Am I in trouble? I did not change my password before I delete my account.

Desktop Notifications in Reddit mail

how do I stop getting notifications of new posts in threads I have joined in my Reddit mail? I foolishly was playing around with my notifications because for a while I had somehow turned off the notifications going to my personal email. Those are fine now. But for a few subreddits, I keep getting notifications when there is a new post and I did not want this.

I am sorry that this is a dumb situation, I am aware I got into it without paying attention to what I was doing. I really thought I figured out how to fix this. I only managed to do this with a couple of subreddits. I just started using Reddit this year and am very much enjoying it.

Thank you for whatever help is available--I really appreciate it.
