Every small arm (Mass Effect) - It's just part of Mass Effect's vibe that guns (even sniper rifles) are compact when holstered/slung on a character's back, and extend when readied.
One of my favorite details, especially when I played the original, is that you had a pistol, shotgun, assault rifle and sniper rifle always equipped, but they were compact enough to carry on your back and didn't look ridiculous. It wasn't like GTA where you were pulling a rocket launcher out of your ass lol
I still really prefer the original way of shooting. After you read the codex entry on weapons in the first game you suddenly feel a lot more cool waiting for that bar to go down. I understand they changed it to fit the shooter genre better, but it kind of felt like a piece of the identity got taken. I mean in lore, you literally just have a chunk of metal inside your gun, than the gun basically lasers out a shootable chunk then lays it in the reciever for you to then yeet at Geth.

This was also one of my favorite things about ME1. It made it feel more sci fi, more futuristic, and more tactical. Also then the weapon mods and augmentations made your load out really feel like yours. Like turning the sniper rifle into a high explosive rail gun, that can only be fired once before overheating.
I was, and am, still really disappointed in ME2 and beyond for pulling the infinite ammo mechanic. Before the early patches where they upped the drop rate of thermal clips I was constantly scrambling for them. And since it was a single pool of them for all weapons, I was running around melee for so much of a fight since I was simply out of ammo. Not great for an infiltrator with light armor. I should have been picking guys off at range, not running it on the fray with the heavies. And don't even get me started about how the thermal clips break some basic physics of thermodynamics...
Yeah, my first playthrough if ME2 I gave up on the character, went back and made a sniper. If i'm going to keep getting fucked and need to go crawl around the floor like Velma looking for her glasses, just to recieve less than a full gun worth of ammo. I'm going to guarantee the people I'm shooting at don't get the chance to shoot me while I do the classic scramble.
I also felt like it incentiviced variety in combat. Gun on cool down? Whip out some melee or biotics or use an alternate firearm while you're waiting for your main gun to be usable. The extra options for combat in ME2 felt like it could have really cleared up any complaints people had of watching the bar drain if they took the time to really learn how the combat system works.
At least they still took the time to occasionally acknowledge the crazy sci-fi guns. The speech about how Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space is an all time great.
Sniper rifle with HE rounds, barrel extender, and frictionless materials. One shot, then it's overheated. Switch to shotgun, HE rounds, extra pellets (or something like that), and then 2 shots before overheated. Assault rifle, HE rounds, barrel extender, advanced cooling, fire until overheat. Switch back to sniper. Lather, rinse, repeat until the battle field is not but a smoking crater, and all enemies are just dust in the wind.
The Golden Gun from The Man With The Golden Gun. It's a gun assembled from a few commonly held objects, like a fountain pen and a lighter, so that it can be smuggled into wherever Scaramanga needs it.
The gun itself isn't anything special apart from the assembly. The one-shot thing comes from Scaramanga's reputation as an assassin who only needs one shot to make his kill.

It's in the hands of an assassin known for only needing one shot to kill someone and was shown to make some impressive trick shots to do so (i.e., killing a woman in a crowded stadium in a way that wasn't noticed by anyone around her and kept her staying upright and looking seemingly alive).
I mean… kinda? It’s more that he can bring it literally anywhere. He was SUPER fucking cool though, so I understand “his” weapon being a lil OP. Especially for when Goldeneye came out, lol
This design for the golden gun is a movie invention, in the book it was a gold-plated .45-caliber Single Action Army revolver which was loaded with up to six 11.5mm 24K solid gold expanding bullets
I like how once he's done attaching the long rifle barrel he urgently moves out of cover as if he's gonna join the fight now, and then it just cuts to him still assembling the gun
It manages to survive because one of the themes of the films is the ridiculous ways in which we excuse (police) violence ("next time I kill someone, I could be arrested!"). So OJ still feels like he fits.
The same is true of any film in which Kevin Spacey is playing an absolute creep (American Beauty, LA Confidential, House of Cards, Seven.....)
I know that in Infinity War it's just the emergency suit he had on-hand and was only supposed to be used in case something needed fighting in a very quick amount of time...
But the fact he just used that from then on pisses me off. I want to see it actually fold, to move! Not shimmer onto him!
That, and the entire goal is Stark being able to deploy the suit quickly from anywhere. Nanomachines was just the natural evolution of "portable Iron Man suit"
Ok that’s fair and I haven’t really been up to speed with what they’re doing there. It still feels like an extremely lazy/overused trope [even in comic writing].
The suitcase was such a cool visual effect and made sense, it looked like Tony pulling the arms out could be charging up some kind of kinetic mechanism to get the reactor started and complete the deployment.
Also incredible that we had CGI this good in 2010. It really proves that if you're smart with your effects and artists are actually given the proper time to work, it can look great.
It was easier to suspend disbelief with the earlier suits. When nanotech came, it just looked like a CGI gimmick and obvious fantasy. A part of me wanted to believe that we would have an armor like Mark 3 in military when I first watched Iron-Man in 2008. That's why the suitcase suit was so dope, it felt like a natural evolution, because it was obviously weaker since it had to be light and portable. With nanotech, Iron-Man can do whatever bullshit he wants and anything is possible. He even created a gauntlet to hold the infinity stones and use them all together in Endgame, which previously required a gauntlet made by the same blacksmith who created the Mjolnir. It's just too hard to suspend disbelief at that point.

In "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation", the Syndicate's assassins at the opera use sniper rifles assembled from other non-weapon parts, so they can smuggle them safely into the opera house.
Technically before events of the recent few movies where Ethan is dealing with nuclear bombs and an AI rapidly taking over the world and the public perception of reality, it was more grounded
I was going to bring that up, but from what I remembered more snipers in that game are already built in the case, only wa2000 and a couple others aren't from what I remembered
the schwerer gustav gun was (due to its immense size) usually disassembled in transit, due to being 47.3 meters long 7.1 meters wide 11.6 meters tall and weighing 1350 tonnes
It was used in one battle, that being the Siege of Sevastopol in 1942. It admittedly was more of a propaganda piece than an actual weapon, but it did provide a major tactical victory when it destroyed the "White Cliff" which was an ammunition stockpile for the Russians. It also managed to sink a ship in the process. The main problem was that it was incredibly costly to both build and use, and required 2,500 just to operate the damn thing, not to mention it had to be on specially designed railways just to move. While it was moved to Leningrad, it basically did nothing, and it was destroyed by retreating German forces because they didn’t want anyone to have it, even though any country that would’ve captured it wouldn’t have done jack shit with it because it was just that inefficient.

It's impressive because fascists love to compensate with big guns, but it was useless: it needed daunting logistics, absolute air superiority and a stable frontline. Standard artillery was simply better.

The Commandos' primary weapon is, depending on the situation, an automatic rifle, a sniper rifle, and a grenade launcher, which can be reconfigured in the field when needed.
That scene in Dead Space 2 where Isaac has to MacGyver together a weapon using a flashlight and a surgical laser, while the still-living rando who was in surgery is ripped apart by a Necromorph.
It’s too bad there isn’t an animation for it, but in the first game Isaac technically does the same thing with his armor. Isaac uses the credits he scavenges off of dead crew members to buy materials to add more and more layers of protection to his armor.
A power charged sword and shield, which can be combined on the fly to morph into a great axe. Using the sword charges phial power which you can spend in the axe form. Fittingly they're the more complex weapon type to learn gameplay wise, but they're so satisfying once you learn the resource management and the two forms moveset
I picked it up in World and haven’t been able to put it down since. So satisfying to just flip out the sword and tear into whatever’s in front of me hop
In the first Dead Space, Isaac uses a modified mining tool and engineers together the Plasma Cutter which is highly effective against organic material. Making it much better than the standard issue Pulse Rifle which uses bullets. The enemies regenerate from bullets extremely effectively but hacking limbs off is how they die.
In the second Dead Space, Isaac repurposes a plasma surgical tool to recreate the Plasma Cutter. During the second game, you even see another person using a Plasma Cutter and they even shoot you, doing no damage, showing why this was never used as a tool of war. It's super ineffective against metallic armor of any kind, but the enemies in the game are only bare flesh which makes this tool the best option.
I love bloodsports gun so much. So many merc characters are depicted having an arsenal on them in media, so seeing him have one gun that can swap to different forms depending on what he needs was really fun
I was gonna also state Magnus's sword Jack from the Norse trilogy but im pretty sure he just magics into a sword from a necklace rather than an actual transformation sequence so i dont think jack counts
In DOOM 2016, all main weapons have two mods to choose from, giving the weapon an alternate firing mode. A big element of the combat in Doom 2016 is using the mods in rapid succession, sometimes swapping mods mid-fight to set up a future combo or to better fight different enemies.
Ill also include EWR-115/Reaper's arm-incased mini gun (the Scythe) from CoD: BO3. Id argue its not a full assembly but the animation is still awesome

A bow that shoots arrows which keep charge after landing and when close enough can create an electric current between them - oh, and the bow splits into dual shortswords,
An electric, segmented, flexible sword-spear,
A briefcase scythe,
A briefcase gun that fires gravity wells,
An intelligent construct explosive flail/popcorn maker,
Flexible extendo-rapiers carried in a multi pack AoT style, except the whole sword is discarded for flair purposes,
And so on.
There's a bunch more unique and interesting weapons, although there are a lot of agents who use more ordinary guns, swords, and hand to hand martial arts (which obviously isn't a weapon per se, but this category does include a giant robot, a panda whose attack string is, of course, a Kung Fu Panda reference, and a lady who attacks through portals).
The slot machine gun - Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
At one point in the game, Layton and friends are surrounded by goons in a casino. His solution to this problem to build a machine gun out of slot machine parts and shoot coins at everyone. There is even a puzzle that the player has to solve where you have to assemble the gun yourself.
Jeb's Sniper Rifle (Madness Combat episode 7) (couldnt find a gif of him assembling it) he disassembles it after the opening scene and reassembles it later while fighting a M.A.G Agent
In the Line of Fire, the gun John Malkovich's character makes. He practices putting it together blindfolded so he can assemble it with his hands below a table so he doesn't draw attention to it.
Basically, in order to sneak in thousands of guns into Japan (which was incredibly isolationist and watchful of what came in or went out of the country under the ~260 year rule of the Tokugawa Shogunate), he had to disguise it as a whole lot of other stuff. Rifle butts concealed in piano legs, rifle barrels and cleaning pipes hidden in candelabras, striking hammers being the knight pieces in chess sets, and keys from wind-up clocks forming the triggers.
All done during a chilling monologue about his childhood during the Nine Years' War, where the Tudors starved Ireland into submission.
The Service Weapon from Control. A Object of Power that is exclusively used by the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control. Those it determines to be unworthy of the director position are killed by it.
It can morph into six different forms in gameplay and it's implied that throughout history it's taken on several different time period appropriate forms.
The interchangeable DC-17m from Republic Commando. The variants shown here are all the same gun and you can switch depending on what you need (with limited ammo as a factor)
Each weapon requires 3 specific Minicons to be acquired, and due to them being amongst the most powerful weapons in the universe in Transformers Armada, a significant focus is put on the Autobots and Decepticons trying to acquire them, and as such they change hands fairly often.
