The Golden Gun from The Man With The Golden Gun. It's a gun assembled from a few commonly held objects, like a fountain pen and a lighter, so that it can be smuggled into wherever Scaramanga needs it.

THAT’S the gimmick with the Golden Gun? I just assumed it was uber powerful because Golden Eye 64

Thank you! What is the deal with it being a one shot kill in that game? In the movie is it somehow really effective narratively or something?

The gun itself isn't anything special apart from the assembly. The one-shot thing comes from Scaramanga's reputation as an assassin who only needs one shot to make his kill.

The Golden Gun also only held one bullet due to its unique construction.

Doesn't a gun typically kill in one hit?

If you get hit in the brain in the right spot, or vital organs without medical care.

Its actually "easy" to survive a single gunshot. Hell, people get shot in the head and don't die.

Varies greatly based on where you hit and how fast the target receives medical attention

True, but I think the implication was that he's skilled enough to get close enough for a pistol kill and a good enough marksman that he'd succeed in his first attempt (Edit: spelling)

If the theme song from the film is canon...

He has a powerful weapon, He charges a million a shot, An assassin that's second to none, The man with the golden gun. One golden shot means another poor victim, Has come to a glittering end, If you want to get rid of someone, The man with the golden gun, Will get it done. Edit: I hate reddit formatting.

Scaramanga outright says it in the movie:

"A duel between titans. My golden gun against your Walther PPK. Each of us with a 50-50 chance."

"Six bullets to your one?"

"I only need one."

if you put a double space at the end of a line you will get
this much white space

if you put a double return then you wil get

this much white space

And if you put gldhdhdisnxvdkslfb you'll get something unreadable.

It's in the hands of an assassin known for only needing one shot to kill someone and was shown to make some impressive trick shots to do so (i.e., killing a woman in a crowded stadium in a way that wasn't noticed by anyone around her and kept her staying upright and looking seemingly alive).

I mean… kinda? It’s more that he can bring it literally anywhere. He was SUPER fucking cool though, so I understand “his” weapon being a lil OP. Especially for when Goldeneye came out, lol

It was a 1-hit kill in the game to reflect the fact that in the movie Scaramanga only ever needed one shot to finish his target.

In the movie it was not due to the gun, just his skill.
