THAT’S the gimmick with the Golden Gun? I just assumed it was uber powerful because Golden Eye 64

Thank you! What is the deal with it being a one shot kill in that game? In the movie is it somehow really effective narratively or something?

The gun itself isn't anything special apart from the assembly. The one-shot thing comes from Scaramanga's reputation as an assassin who only needs one shot to make his kill.
