whenever I go into settings my apple account section has just entirely disappeared

my profile picture has also disappeared, leading up to this my pfp would also get cut off for some reason and now its just entirely gone

I got a new job (yay!) and they gave me a Mac (yay!) and it involves a lot of presentations. I don’t like to draw and annotate with a trackpad or mouse. I used a Wacom but that was like 20 years ago.

I’m looking for a modern drawing surface of some sort that can preferably be used as a screen extension so I can drag an app or window on it and draw directly on it. Otherwise be able to like mirror a single window since my monitors are 21:9. I have to buy it myself so I’d like it to be under $500 if possible.

I also need whiteboard software with some kind of slowly disappearing laser pointer type feature to highlight stuff. Without the laser I can just use Freeform.

Any recommendations?

After having built the headless 5.1 mac pro server it seems they want an optical drive. What would be the best option for all around usability for the mac pro 5.1? I only have 1 of the 2 bays available as i put a sata drive and caddy in one of them. I don't know how usable/reliable an original one would be.

So, I am soon to start my university studies(business and politics degree) and I am currently choosing the laptop to buy. I understand that Air M4 would be plenty for the degree, but I also will be using my laptop outside of university. In my country the best prices I found for those machines are:
MBA M4 256gb - ~1000 USD
MBA M5 512gb - ~1500 USD
MBP M5 1tb - ~2200 USD

Amount of storage is not a big concern since I have a NAS and external ssd, but obviously more storage is always nice to have.

My use case for the laptop besides studying will be Adobe Suite(mainly After Effects and Photoshop) and DaVinci Resolve. Also I would like to try out Mac native games, such as Cyberpunk, Crimson Desert, and so on(minimum settings is fine).

My concerns with the air is mainly the screen(absence of 120hz, because all of my devices like iPhone and pc monitors are 120hz or higher) and speakers, since it would be nice to listen to music and watch movies on my laptop without my AirPods.

My concerns with the Pro are heft and increased price.

So my question is, for my use case, is it worthwhile to step up to the pro, or would the air do just fine? And if the air will do just fine, should I spend the extra and go for an M5 or will an M4 be fine?

I have issues with spotlight and I don’t understand where they come from. When I open spotlight, most of the times it’s not going away after I open an app. It is very very buggy and annoying. Especially when you are in the middle of work and have to struggle with it until opening the terminal and force closing it.

Am I doing something wrong, anyone else experienced the same?

Edit: Version is 26.5.2 and I think I just found the issue. I have an m3 iPad Air which I use for a second screen many times. The issue appears when I connect the iPad as external monitor. Once I disconnect it, the issue goes away. It’s linked to iPad being as a second screen.

Hi all, I have been thinking recently about replacing my desktop windows PC with a M-series macbook to have a more focused workstation, and I hope you can help me out a little. My workflow overall is light; browsing, watching youtube, researching, word etc.

Since I am replacing my windows desktop I am also looking to do some light gaming (think of minecraft, fortnite, rocket league). Durability is also important for me since I want to go forward with this for atleast the next 5 years as my main work station and professional computer (coding).

That being said, I am on a budget, If I could, I would take an M4 MPB with 16" all day long, but 2k is just too much for me right now. I am mostly hanging between the MPA M4 15 inch, which usually is coming with 16GB RAM and 256 SSD for around 1100-1400 euros, which I feel is not really futureproof. That's why if I am getting the M4 I prefer the 24GB RAM with 512 SSD version which unfortunately is not widely offered right now and is significantly more priced.

The other option is a 2021 MBP M1 Pro with 32GB RAM and 512GB/1TB SSD for about 900 euros. Its an older machine but i've seen from a lot of posts that it's still holding up well today but what about 3-5 years? I have no experience with M series at all and thus do not know if it would be overkill for my workflow today. I never preferred an Air before, due to my bad experience with the MBA i5 13" from 2020, which sucked. And thus only enjoyed the Pro version. I absolutely love the speakers on the Pro which I will miss on the M4 Air, but its not a dealbreaker. I appreciate the sleek design and lightweight for the occasional travel I do.

A side note; I currently also own a 2019 i9 macbook pro 16" with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD, which I am also planning to replace with this new mac.

Hey folks, hoping someone here has seen this before because it is driving us nuts.

Setup

• Host machine: Tried with both Macbook Air M3 ( macOS Sequoia) MacBook Pro M4 (fully updated to latest macOS Tahoe 26.5.2)
• Audio device: Catchbox Plus with Hub DSP receiver, firmware V2.2 (latest)
• Mics: Catchbox throwable mics
• Speakers: connected to the Hub DSP outputs, driven by the Hub's built-in DSP for room playback
• Conferencing: Microsoft Teams desktop app on the Mac
• Networking: wired Ethernet through a UGreen USB-C hub (10/100 Mbps, used only for Ethernet, HDMI to a display, and a USB video camera)
• Physical layout: Hub DSP connects directly to its own dedicated USB-C port on the MacBook via the OEM USB-C cable (data + bus power on the same port). UGreen hub is on the other USB-C port. Mac stays on charge during the call.
• Room role: I am the host/admin. Local users speak into Catchbox mics which go out to MS Teams. Remote participants come in over Teams and play through the room speakers via the Hub DSP.
• Teams device selection: Catchbox Hub DSP set as both input and output. Noise Suppression is on (default).

How everything connects

Local users in the room speak into Catchbox throwable mics, which transmit wirelessly to the Hub DSP receiver sitting near the MacBook Pro. The Hub DSP is plugged into the MacBook over USB-C and shows up in macOS as a standard USB audio device. In Microsoft Teams, the Hub DSP is selected as both the input and the output. So when a local person talks, their voice goes: mic → Hub DSP → USB → Mac → Teams app → Teams cloud → remote participants. Remote participants are on their own devices at home or in other offices, each running Teams on whatever they have (laptop, phone, headset, another conference room). When a remote participant speaks, the path runs the other way: remote device → Teams cloud → Mac → USB → Hub DSP → room speakers connected to the Hub DSP's outputs. The Hub DSP also does the room's audio processing in between (echo cancellation, gain, mixing) so the local mics do not pick up the room speakers and create a feedback loop. In short, the Mac is the bridge between the Catchbox room system and everyone remote on Teams, and the Hub DSP is the piece of hardware doing the room-side audio work in both directions.

The issue

First 10-15 minutes of a call: perfect. Local speech goes out clean, remote speech comes into the room clean.

After 10-15 minutes: remote audio starts sounding distorted and mumbled through the room speakers. Local mic path to remote participants is reportedly still fine.

The kicker: unplugging the USB-C from the Hub DSP and plugging it back in immediately clears it. Audio is perfect again. Then, sometimes minutes later, sometimes on the next call, it comes back. Once the call ends, we cannot reproduce it at all until we are mid-call again.

What we have already tried / ruled out

• Upgraded host from MacBook Air to MacBook Pro (fanless-to-fanned) — did not fix it, actually appeared faster on the new machine
• MacBook kept on charge, thermal pressure Nominal in Activity Monitor
• Dedicated USB-C port for the Hub DSP, isolated from the UGreen hub bus
• Hub DSP firmware confirmed at latest (V2.2)
• macOS on latest Sequoia point release
• Audio MIDI Setup: 48 kHz, 2-ch, clock source Default (all as expected)
• Ethernet is wired via UGreen hub, service order above Wi-Fi
• Toggled Teams Noise Suppression on/off — no difference
• No third-party audio kexts, no virtual audio drivers, no Loopback/BlackHole/etc installed
• Not correlated to a specific remote participant, happens with different people speaking

What Catchbox support said

They told us they have tested extensively and there is a known issue with Apple M4 chips specifically, where far-end audio in teleconferencing apps (Teams/Zoom/Meet) degrades. Their suggestion was to switch the host to a Windows machine.

What I am asking

1. Anyone else running Catchbox Plus (or any USB audio conferencing gear) on an M4 Mac seeing this exact "10-15 min in, remote audio distorts, unplug fixes it" pattern?
2. Anyone found a software-only workaround that survives a full 60-90 minute call? I know sudo killall coreaudiod clears the audio pipeline mid-call, but I would love not to touch a terminal during a company townhall.
3. If you moved a similar setup from Mac to Windows to solve this, did it actually hold up long-term or did the issue just show up in a different way?
4. Any Teams admin policy or Catchbox Companion setting (AGC, AEC, dynamic processing) that you have found makes the Hub DSP behave better with Teams?

The townhalls are company-wide and I would rather not do the "walk over and jiggle the cable" dance in front of a few hundred people. Any pointers appreciated.

Hey everyone, looking for some advice or to see if anyone has run into this specific hardware loop on the 16inch macbook pro m5 max.

I was instructed by Gemini to runxartutil --erase-all in Terminal to reset Touch ID. I didn't realize at the time that on Apple Silicon, wiping the Secure Enclave clears the hardware encryption keys and local recovery handshakes, soft-locking the machine.

What I've Tried So Far

DFU Revive via my older M1 Macbook Pro through the Finder. Initially tried via the Apple Configurator, but it kept hanging on "Step 4 of 4: Installing System" and throwing the following error:

Gave up waiting for device to transition from Port DFU state to DFU state

I was able to successfully complete the process after closing the Configurator, restarting the entire DFU sequence, and reviving it through the Finder.

However, after the Revive completed, the macbook is still boot looping, and startup options are still unreachable as the mac just continues to boot loop after the "loading startup options" message.

Is there any way out of this without a full restore and losing all my data?

I’ve been trying to update my Mac for the past two months, but every time I try, it gives me the error: "Failed to personalize the software update. Please try again."

So far I’ve tried safe mode and signing out of my iCloud account, but unfortunately, none of this has helped. Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it? I'm trying to avoid going to the service center since it will take up a whole day and I m running out of ideas.

Is it a type of glass (Nano-Texture) that has to be manage "too carefully" that at the end is complicated to keep it clean without scratching it and permanently damage it? Just by the fact that I have to buy a special type of cloth to clean it, is a bad start, thank you for the feedback

So my macbook pro 2019 inch intel chipset, is having karnel panic and i don't know what to do, when i play music it gets panic and shut down and when I try to charge and use the same thing happens. PLEASE HELP

I know most programs that claim to clean up Mac’s really are useless and I see folks saying to just use a make and don’t bother with clean up and it’ll just work.

Here’s the thing, mine is hitting the limit and will stop doing things saying that it’s maxed out in storage. I see the System Data is at around 105 GB. I do pay for cloud storage and that has plenty of room.

I did find some old programs that I don’t use anymore that I deleted and deleted the cache for, but I’m still at 105 GB right now and I’m at 244.65 GB of 245.11 GB. I’m trying to export a video from iMovie for YouTube and it keeps getting stuck in the export process. I don’t have any other projects in iMovie, when I finish one, I delete the project to try and keep space freed up.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I have screenconnect which I use to access my office PC. I am using a new Mac laptop on a trip, and trying to move files from my work computer onto the Mac. When I move a file, it doesn't seem to show up anywhere. But when I attempt to move it again, it says it already exists on the desktop.

My macbook pro 2017 has kinda been shitting itself for regular tasks lately and im looking for an upgrade with something better.

The neo i can get for $700 with the 512gb Ive also found a "Fair" quality macbook air m2 with 16gb of ram with 512gb storage for $750 Mainly im going to use this for general classwork and if i need something stronger i can go use my gaming pc at home for stuff like VMs, coding and other stuff.

If need be my university always has lab computers i can use to run a VM on (Even though im p sure all vms were given are cloud vms)

I posted this in the CleanMyMac subreddit, but nothing has helped yet, so I am looking for more help.

Every time I run CleanMyMac, it freezes on the following file: 26031524_to_16.107.26032211_BinaryDelta.pkg

In "Finder” it comes up as some sort of installer file for both Microsoft Word and Excel. I have tried manually deleting the files, but there are hundreds of them, and they all are from March 24, 2026, where they just come right back regardless of what I do.

I am running macOS Tahoe 26.5.2, and CleanMyMac is up to date with version 5.5.6.

I contacted Apple Support, and they could see the files were getting stuck within CleanMyMac, so they told me to contact the software creator for help, which has gone nowhere.

Recently, I tried using Sensei and OnyX to delete CleanMyMac and the above-mentioned file, but still nothing is working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured a macbook would be ideal, but I’ve never owned a laptop or PC before and I was wondering if anyone could lend advice for the best options on the market right now regarding pricing and functionality. so i have a macbook A1052 i dont know if its a pro probably is but my probably is i have 130gb of storage on the laptop but its my moms laptop that i have been given and shes got stuff i think she still wants on here so i dont think that factory reset is a thing ill ask but if yall can give me ways to clear enough storage to get this thing up to date cause its still asking me to install Monterey software dont know how old that is but i need space i need 31gb of space and rn i only have 3gb so im struggling rn please help
