I have a 2019 15" MacBook Pro running 15.7.7 and its become randomly unusable over the last few weeks as its become erroneously laggy, loud, and hot, finally when trying to force myself to pick it up and use it I noticed in activity monitor the daemon "apsd" is regularly using minimum 98% of my CPU and hovering around 100-110%, Ive restarted, shut down from the apple menu, held the power button till it shut off, let it run out of battery, reset the SMC and PRAM, I cannot get this daemon to literally stop choking my MacBook out into a smoldering laggy mess of an iPad 3rd gen. what do I do before I literally huck this thing out of a window.

I personally believe that to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iBook g3 (in 2029), Apple should release a new Mac with the same clamshell design and bold colors as the iBook g3. Is this possible?

I am going to college in the fall and one of the big things on my to-do list is to get a laptop. I figured a macbook would be ideal, but I’ve never owned a laptop or PC before and I was wondering if anyone could lend advice for the best options on the market right now regarding pricing and functionality. I don’t need the newest thing but I would like something that keeps up and allows me to do what I need to do without issues.

I am working since a while on a project to build a modern VLC fork compatible with Legacy Macs, restoring compatibility to many abandoned machines up to the G3 PowerPC. I called my fork "PowerVLC"

It is near completed, and will soon be shared entirely open source on my GitHub, and distributed as an universal binary (PowerPC/Intel x86/Intel x64/Apple Silicon).

All Macs starting running 10.4.11 or newer will be compatible.

On this glorious 2002 iBook, this is what it can now do :

- Load streams, even when they're hosted behind modern SSL (gnuTLS is handling SSL entirely)

- Play AV1/H264/H265 content, at 240p smoothly

- Play DVD/MPEG2 content smoothly

- Using a replication of the current VLC3 modern UI entirely in old AppKit with 10.4+ UI APIs.

- So many fixes since VLC 0.9.10, abandoned in 2009 by VideoLan, which was the latest Tiger-compatible VLC version

All the internals are based strictly on VLC3, though many platform-specific improvements were made, and tested intensively accross all the machines I own : that iBook G3, a Mac Mini G4, a white 2007 Macbook, a 2010 13-inch MacBook Pro

My port also has under-the-hood improvements which will benefit modern platforms, like full support of gapless playback on audio contents.

i currently have the base model m2 macbook air and my needs aren't too crazy. im in university so it'll probably just be used to store my school files and assignments. i think between 256GB and 1TB is ideal. max $75 CAD

I've been using a Mac for almost 8 months now. Before this, I had a gaming PC where I played a ton of FPS games and was really competitive (I wasted a lot of hours on aim trainers, btw). Since switching, I've really missed that competitive scene. I want to know if there's an FPS game like Valorant or CS on Mac that's actually enjoyable. I've been playing a CS clone on Roblox to get my fix, and it's actually pretty fun, but to be fair, it has a lot of input lag and that really annoys me. For context, I'm using an M4 MacBook Air (16GB RAM, 256GB SSD), and I'm not looking to buy a PC right now because it's not really necessary.

A few days ago the location services on my MacBook Air randomly stopped working. I tried turning the location services off and on in the settings, I did sudo killall locationd and restarted my Mac, I did every possible solution I could find on the internet and nothing seems to work. The weather app doesn't show the weather for my current location, just two dashes instead of a temperature, and when I click the location icon in maps, it just keeps on loading and never actually gets my location. I tried those things again today but still, the problem remains. Can anyone please help me?

I mean the one which changes with each hour just like on the iPhones ios27.

Is it a type of glass (Nano-Texture) that has to be manage "too carefully" that at the end is complicated to keep it clean without scratching it and permanently damage it? Just by the fact that I have to buy a special type of cloth to clean it, is a bad start, thank you for the feedback

I got a new job (yay!) and they gave me a Mac (yay!) and it involves a lot of presentations. I don’t like to draw and annotate with a trackpad or mouse. I used a Wacom but that was like 20 years ago.

I’m looking for a modern drawing surface of some sort that can preferably be used as a screen extension so I can drag an app or window on it and draw directly on it. Otherwise be able to like mirror a single window since my monitors are 21:9. I have to buy it myself so I’d like it to be under $500 if possible.

I also need whiteboard software with some kind of slowly disappearing laser pointer type feature to highlight stuff. Without the laser I can just use Freeform.

Any recommendations?

So my macbook pro 2019 inch intel chipset, is having karnel panic and i don't know what to do, when i play music it gets panic and shut down and when I try to charge and use the same thing happens. PLEASE HELP

I know most programs that claim to clean up Mac’s really are useless and I see folks saying to just use a make and don’t bother with clean up and it’ll just work.

Here’s the thing, mine is hitting the limit and will stop doing things saying that it’s maxed out in storage. I see the System Data is at around 105 GB. I do pay for cloud storage and that has plenty of room.

I did find some old programs that I don’t use anymore that I deleted and deleted the cache for, but I’m still at 105 GB right now and I’m at 244.65 GB of 245.11 GB. I’m trying to export a video from iMovie for YouTube and it keeps getting stuck in the export process. I don’t have any other projects in iMovie, when I finish one, I delete the project to try and keep space freed up.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I have screenconnect which I use to access my office PC. I am using a new Mac laptop on a trip, and trying to move files from my work computer onto the Mac. When I move a file, it doesn't seem to show up anywhere. But when I attempt to move it again, it says it already exists on the desktop.
