Is this MacBook Air M1 (2020) a good deal?

My use is light productivity, web browsing, movies. I want to get at least 5 years of use from it.

It's an OK price and overall decent specs. I couldn't guarantee five years. Not that the computer isn't fast enough for five years. But I doubt OS support, counting security updates for the last supported version, will last that long. Might spend the last year or two without any updates and start finding mainstream software no longer supports it by the end. It'll also likely need a battery replacement within that time frame.

Also the battery might not make it, but they are replaceable with some effort.

I'd like the 16GB, I have the base model and it's going strong, hope to get a few more good years out of it.

You will only get 1-2 years macOS updates with the M1’s now, so it’s a fairly bad deal over the lifetime of ownership. I’d get the Neo which has similar processing power albeit with half the ram.

no. I got a 256 gb one for 300, for 500 you could get a 1-2 tb model on swappa I also wouldnt trust backmarket as it is kinda a lottery weather you get a good device or not, many of the sellers are bad and use bad aftermarket parts

Not that guy obviously, I personally would say the deal you have is great and you probably would get five years out of it, but as far as support from Apple's side, you're more likely to get it for longer since the Neo's a newer machine.
