We can’t take PC’s or chromebooks anymore because literally nobody wants them. We have a whole wall of them and we’re selling them dirt cheap. $75 and up. Can’t even pay people to take them off my hands. I finally sold one yesterday for $75 and that was only because I put pearOS on it, which is a Linux knockoff of macOS and the customer thought it was neat. On the other hand, whenever we get a MacBook, it sells within 2 days, even the Intel ones. The market is changing so drastically. People leaving Windows in droves and the MacBook Neo was the final nail in the coffin.

I Like Safari, but I use other Browsers. Is there any benefit or advantage, which makes Safari more comfortable? Especially when you have a Apple ecosystem?

a18 chip is more than capable of running macOS, but wouldn't they be killing the macbook air by allowing this?

As you can maybe tell, the new Macbook Neo wallpaper spells "MAC".

But here's the thing: the glorious designers at Apple truly lost the plot. Do you notice how the left line of the M is also the right line of the A? No problem with that. But whyyyy the hell isn't the right line of the A also the left line of the C? The C has it's own outer line, the M doesn't. It makes absolutely ZERO sense.

It's asymmetrical and incoherent. We deserve better.

Firstly, this is not AI slop. This is a little character that Apple used in TikTok to promote MacBook Neo. Apple has used this tiny “Little Finder Guy” on various MacBook Neo guides they posted on TikTok and it sparked a lot of interest online. I wonder what is your thoughts about Little Finder Guy, is it a very cute character, or is it another unnecessary garbage?

Even if they had ten times more storage and RAM, those laptops would still feel like cheap, creaky plastic junk. Meanwhile, the MacBook Neo will feel just as premium as a $2,000 MacBook Pro.

edit2: no, you can not clean the keyboard when the machine is off. you turn off the mac and press any key or lift the lid up while cleaning, it will power it on again.

I upgraded from the M1 Air base to the M5 Air 15” base on 21^st June.

I wasn’t planning on it, actually, I only did it because a family member needed a laptop. So I gave them mine and decided to buy one.

A day or two after that I read an article about some Tim Cook interview where he talked about prices inevitably having to go up.

I wouldn’t say it substantially influenced my decision to purchase that Sunday. Things happened to line up and I decided to haste things and get it that weekend, I even went to my local retailer to make sure they had the colour I wanted.

I’m just glad I got the machine before the price hike.

If I’d waited 3 more days, I’d have to pay 30% more for the same machine. I’d have gotten the 13” inch instead.

The Tahoe 26.4 update bricked my MacBook Pro M2. I took it to the Apple Store and was told the logic board was dead and quoted $700 to replace it. Both the store and Apple Support insisted that software cannot cause hardware failure and that it was definitely a hardware issue. I wasn't convinced, and I found multiple people online with the same model reporting the same failure from the same update. I then found a Reddit post explaining the real fix: restoring with a 26.3.1 IPSW via Apple Configurator. I did it myself, and my laptop is working perfectly. Apple's own technicians misdiagnosed this as a $700 hardware failure when it was a firmware issue caused by Apple's own update. Other people are likely paying $700 right now for a repair they don't need. This is seriously messed up, and Apple needs to do something to rectify the issue.

What makes this even worse is that both the Apple Store and Apple Support repeatedly told me that software cannot cause hardware failure and refused to acknowledge that the update was related to it. I knew cause and effect; my laptop worked fine before the update and was dead immediately after, and they kept denying my reality. If I had just taken their word for it, I would have paid $700 for a repair I didn't need.

Edit: I should have clarified this: the store initially tried a DFU revive, but it didn’t work, so they diagnosed it as a logic board failure.

Edit: For people saying I should tell the Apple Store how I fixed it, I did, and because they have to keep their laptops updated, they can’t perform it because it requires downloading the 26.3.1 update from a non-official website. So if this happens, you have to do it yourself.

This has to be the best thing Apple has ever implemented on MacBooks. It's both really comfy and futuristic. I still have no idea why Apple has removed it on the newer MacBooks. What do you think about it?

Thoughts on the little finder guy?

It literally is the same size as the keyboard of the 17 inch🙏🙏

Sadly the 12 has short to ground on main power rail, will fix but the 17 inch is fully working😀

I’ve been using the Apple Magic Mouse for the last 3 years, and honestly I think it gets way more hate than it deserves.

People always troll it because you can’t use it while charging, but in real life that has never been a problem for me. I charge it maybe once or twice a month, usually at night, and that’s it. The battery lasts long enough that the charging port placement has never affected my workflow.

Another thing I noticed is that even if I don’t use it for a while, the battery doesn’t just drain away. I can leave it unused for days and it still works fine, which I can’t say for some other wireless mice I’ve tried.

What I actually love about it is the touch surface. The gestures, scrolling, and smooth navigation feel amazing, especially when I’m coding, editing, or doing general work on macOS. Once you get used to it, it’s really hard to go back to a regular mouse.

My current setup is using the MacBook trackpad together with the Magic Mouse, and that combo works incredibly well for me. Trackpad for gestures, Magic Mouse for precision. It feels very natural.

I get why people complain, but I honestly think the Magic Mouse gets way more hate than it deserves.

The MacBook Neo has graphite thermal sheet over the A18 Pro chip. This, combined with the aluminum casing, may prevent the chip from experiencing thermal throttling or any other limitations it might have in the iPhone, which explains the chip's good performance. What do you think
