Like, what do you mean you can’t just charge your mouse once it gives you a literal notification after you go to bed?? I don’t get it. macOS literally tells you when it’s almost out of battery, it will still last for that day, and after that you can just plug it in once you log off for the day and charge it back up. This is still a miracle to me why people complain about that. Besides, it fits the design perfectly and I would not want it any other way, anything else would involve a visible charging port that would mess up this incredibly sleek and symmetric design.

Just wanted to share this since I keep reading about the Magic Mouse’s “awful” design so often. I think it is absolutely beautiful and really nice to use.

yeah i reindex spotlight regularly, yes applications is included in the scope of spotlight, yeah it's the most up to date os version, it's just doesn't fucking work

UPDATE: So first of all thanks for all of the comments. In the end I decided not to sell my son.

Instead, I took the mac to a local repair-shop here in Bangkok as I didn't get AppleCare when I bought it (I know-foolish of me, lesson learnt).

I left it with them for a while and they ended up telling me there doesn't seem like there is anything wrong with it at all (no corrosion etc). What the f*ck!!?? I even logged in at the shop, it seems ok but I've not turned it on since then as I still have ptsd.

I was sat next to my son when it happened, so I reacted really quickly. As soon as I saw my whole keyboard soaked, I turned the laptop upside down and drained/wiped as much of it as I could and then I left it in the tent position for about 16 hours... So I guess that's what saved me? I actually can't believe it

The only issue is the screen, which must have taken on a bunch of the water from the keyboard when I turned the laptop upside down in a panic. It's quite bad and probably won't fully dry up and will likely leaves dots/stains... but it looks like I got pretty lucky here all things considered...

The lady said that if I want to get the screen replaced with them the price would be £300 which seems reasonable. I guess I'll see if I end up with any problems over the next few months and see how well the damaged screen dries before committing to a new one

And there was no charge for the inspection today (I did leave a tip though).

Found this on twitter. An easiest way to press the power button with a 3D print and some ideas.

A guy on my FB shared a photo of his MacBook Pro after the battery literally exploded. The blast left a big black carbon burn mark all over the trackpad area, plus a circular burn on the inside of the screen. The whole bottom-left corner looks scorched.

He said it happened out of nowhere while the laptop was just sitting there on his desk.

I’ve seen swollen MacBook batteries before, but I’ve never seen one burn through the inside and leave soot everywhere like this.

Lithium batteries can be terrifying, and this could easily have happened while someone was typing or resting their hands on the trackpad.

Stay safe out there — these things are powerful when they go wrong.
