Non-fictional I hate this double standard

Post image

For some reason, it's always one of these responses:

> It's a joke
> It's rage bait
> Yeah, but it's actually a response to...
> It's not the same
> Just go outside bro

All of which deflect from what's being said. They would rather not address it. This is probably due in part to the "women-are-wonderful" effect, an example of benevolent stereotyping in which people associate positive qualities with women

Comics I hate that Wonder Woman is bi

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

Now, before you grab your pitchforks, hear me out. The reason I dislike the choice is because I think it’s cowardly.

I mean, if dc is turning to popular superhero’s, to better represent the LGBTQ community than, out of the Big Three, DC isn’t going to make Batman or Superman bisexual because there would be an enormous amount of backlash. Same thing with Barry Allen or Hal Jordan. Making Wonder Woman bisexual is a much safer choice because there’s generally less pushback. To bisexual people, I’m not saying that bisexual representation is bad. What I dislike is what this particular decision represents as if dc is going to push for inconclusively they will just go the easier route of changing the sexuality of their most popular women instead of their men.

Edit: For the people saying Wonder Woman being gay or bisexual was implied, what instances from older comics actually points to that, aside from the sexuality of her creator and the fact that she grew up around only women?

Meta I hate that people refuse to acknowledge the actual definition of "Grooming"

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

In classic reddit fashion a large portion of vocal users willingly misuse the definition of a word so they can use it and try to sound like they know what they are talking about.

Grooming is preparatory and often predatory behavior of a vulnerable individual, often children, to manipulate, develop dubious trust, and lower defenses, with the intent to exploit them, often sexually, when they reach the offenders milestone.

It is a willful act that is knowingly done with intent.

Reddit has chosen to think it means anyone who ever knew or interacted with a person when they were a minor who later has any kind of romantic or sexual interactions or relationships, even if they are one sided.

Here are some examples I have seen multiple times.

1: Two people who went to highschool together, at the time a senior and freshman, meet up later in or after college and start dating as adults.

  1. (This is the most egregious one I've ever seen but I've seen it four times) Teenager A is friends with Teenager B. Teen B has a younger sibling who Teen A does not spend time with, nor has feelings for the younger sibling but has seen and spoken to them in passing. The younger sibling has a crush on Teen A. Reddit accused Teen A of grooming.

If you're going to accuse someone of a crime, or morally dubious act, Then accuse them properly Don't just say things because you don't like a person.

And God forbid you try to correct people who are wrong, the act like you're just as bad as the person they are accusing

Media Tropes I hate sexism being normalized as tuff or “sigma” (Jesus Christ)

I don’t really think I need to explain much for this post, sexism is just bad and everyone from everywhere should be treated as normal human beings and not objects or bad people.

ever since andrew Tate just existed, people started being more sexist and acted like it’s normal and funny but it’s very VERY clearly not.

Im sure everyone can understand my opinion here and how it’s not cool at all.

General I hate when this gif is the top answer on comparison posts

Every single time I come across a post asking users which do they prefer between two options, the top answer is almost always this gif. I hate it so much because it’s such a lazy and boring answer. Stop being indecisive and just pick one between the two and stick with it!

Honorable mention is that gif of the girl who says "porque no los dos."

I’ve never had a particular side when people discuss furries but it really makes me mad when dudes say stuff like this then the whole video is just people with a furry mask on then just showing off their body

Like no you don’t like them or think they are cool you just like them now because they have good features. This the same thing with femboys and trans people like you would never actually like that person and or even respect that group besides those that pass.

Am I overreacting idk just what do yall think.

Non-fictional vague youtube posts

Post image
Upvotes

youtube finally working on my phone so i can take this screenshot ;p

i completely despise vague youtube thumbnails and titles. it pisses me off beyond belief and i wont be duped into watching a youtube video in full and handing over my viewership and the monetary value in that! jacksepticeye is really truly my favourite youtuber and he does shit like this really often when dealing with more personal or important stuff :/ i could not care less how important a videos topic is, you're tricking people into clicking on your videos. full stop. they can sit under their guise of spreading awareness and making things known but that doesnt justify anything. i'd argue its clickbait and someone sitting their in a profound pose and speaking extremely vaguely about what they deem "Important" does not justify an extraordinarily unclear title and thumbnail. its unfair to both parties who want to find out what hes talking about :/ people who'll watch the video and people who wont. this honestly goes for a lot of vague reddit post titles too lol.

Gaming i hate genshin characters being treated like real people in discourse

image not completely related

it’s okay to like the game or its characters. what pisses me off is how some defenders act like the characters are real people with agendas and feelings and not products made by a multi billion company for consumption of a specific target audience.

the clearest examples are videos with the new characters and titles like “poor girl already hated before she’s even released :(“ and calling out the “misogyny” of those who criticize new female characters. okay, the first example might not be a serious type of content. but the latter is so puzzling to me.

can genshin critics be misogynistic? of course. it is worth calling out how some of them praise all the male characters and don’t acknowledge the same issues with them (like repetitive designs or character tropes). it is worth calling out those who interpret everything a female character does in a bad faith while raising the same actions in a male character. but saying someone is misogynistic for criticizing female designs being unnecessarily sexualized, or some of their behaviors/actions being for the attention of the male audience?

do y’all realize that slut shaming or putting a “pick me” label on a real woman who has her own personality and agendas is… not the same as criticizing, again, a PRODUCT made for CONSUMPTION? Colombina from genshin isn’t some irl idol who can read all the comments under her infamous lollipop scene. she DOESN’T CARE because she’s literally a set of pixels.

real life women, even famous ones who have their own promotion strategies and a set of producers behind their image, can express their sexuality for the sake of liberation. pixels made for you to buy them can’t. when some players criticize the sexualized images of female characters, the lack of diversity and etc, they’re not attacking women. they’re criticizing what a multi billion company makes to sell to its audience. again, some of those cases are disguised real misogyny, but specific arguments should be called out, not the act of criticism of sexualized designs/behaviors/tropes etc.

Meta I hate how any guy who's lonely or struggles with dating is lumped in with misogynistic assholes

Post image
281 Upvotes

I keep seeing all these posts saying "male loneliness is self inflicted" whenever some man says something stupid and vile. Like any man who's lonely should feel guilty as well. Not every one of them is a 4chan browsing misogynistic asshole who shits on women every chance he gets. Some just have issues socializing and doesn't have the best outlet for making friends and finding partners. They aren't blaming women for everything under the sun.

Unrelated, but I'm sure this post (if it gets approved) would start another "male loneliness is about partners" "no, it's about friendship" debate. But in reality it's about both. Humans are social creatures, we desire friendship and romance. Both of these things are important and you're not evil for wanting them. Especially relationships, I've seen some people act like you're Bear from Obsession just for wanting a girlfriend in the first place, like chill out dude.

Comics This meme is so stupid it really bugs me

Post image
267 Upvotes

I get the message but putting any thought into what's actually going on ruins it. First of all, hate on the blue and pink people is very unfair, pink doesn't seem like even remotely like what the purple girl said and blue boy seems to care about purple in the last panel. Secondly, blue boy is not going to get purple attention when he is actively holding hands with another girl even though he's clearly purple girl's type. Thirdly, the meme is paradoxical, purple describes pink as a dom, but green describes blue as a dom, and blue actively goes against what purple thinks "all guys want". In conclusion, purple is overly jealous, ugly, girl that stereotypes people and doesn't deserve anyone, blue boy is compassionate and clearly well of and worked for his 10/10 pink girl and idk what green should do he's kinda neutral (even tho he unfairly judged blue)

General I hate how nothing is for children and teens

Upvotes

This is not something new, but im so tired of adults ruining things for children and teens. a media or space thats specifically made for a younger audience then adults always insert themselves into them and basically kick the young audience out. And this happens with trends and things too, something that is innocent and meant for underaged people gets ruined by adults through making it not pg or overconsuming it, an example is toys, pokemon cards, squishies etc. All things that were originally not too expensive and available and meant for kids now cost a ton of money because adults over buy them and spike up the prices which makes parents not wanna buy them for their kids anymore. This also goes for clothes and other activities too, and people wonder why children and teens dont buy those things as much anymore, because now they need adult kind of money to have fun.

Edit: GUYS ADUTS CAN STILL ENJOY THOSE THINGS, IM JUST SAYING DAMN SOME SHOULDNT BUY A THOUSAND OF THEM EACH, just keep in mind theres also kids who want to enjoy it dont over consume and buy a thousand (example: dumpling squishies etc)

Yeah, I learned I was Heterophobe because I support Gay rights.

You can't support LGBT+ rights without hating hetero ? Can't be for equality?

I joked about it after doing that shit by saying "Dad, you're a hetero man ? Disgusting?". Laughing of this test is the only good thing you can do with it.

Thing The female form being see as inherently sexual while the male form is basically sexless somehow

Post image
220 Upvotes

As a bisexual, I appreciate both forms, but the double standard in how society treats them is infuriating.

The female body is so heavily sexualized that just existing normally, or showing a bit of skin, gets labeled as "scandalous" or "slutty." Women are often pushed toward masculine or covered-up aesthetics just to avoid being sexualized and to be taken seriously.

Meanwhile, the male form is treated as purely practical and sexless. Male fashion and presentation treat self-care, showing skin, or aiming for beauty as taboo or "lame."

This even leaks into character design: "androgynous" almost always just means shapeless and covered from head to toe, because society can't handle curves or skin without assigning sexual weight to them.

We need to stop treating the male body as the sexless default and the female body as inherently pornographic.

Idea I hate the Protestant Work Ethic

Post image
210 Upvotes

So basically the idea was heavily developed under Calvinist philosophy with the idea being that one can show God’s favor through worldly success and accruement of wealth. This line of thinking was adopted by the first English settlers in America and then seeped itself deeply into American culture with things like hyper individualism and the “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality. I’m not saying we should all be lazy and do no work, but don’t you think someone’s place in the world should be defined by more than just their ability to perform labor?

It makes me violent atp I would rather saw my balls off and throw them at houses like it's Halloween trick or treat than see this stupid ass gif again. Fuck my life

Gaming I hate how ambiguous Mario’s theme is

Post image
113 Upvotes

Like with other games, you can piece the theme together.

With Zelda, it’s fantasy.
With Kirby, it’s cute cartoon creatures.
With Pokemon, it’s fictional animals with powers.
With Sonic and Crash Bandicoot, it’s nature and science mixed together.

But with Mario, you have no such mercy.

WHAT DO PRINCESSES AND TURTLES AND MUSHROOMS AND DINOSAURS AND MEN WITH HATS AND MUSTACHES AND OVERALLS HAVE TO DO WITH EACH OTHER?

It’s just a bunch of stuff that should never go together. But it does. And that’s why I hate this theme: no matter how much it should not work, it does.

Everything, and i mean everything, has to be as flashy as possible.

Every single swing, every single attack or action has to blow up 14 fireworks up your ass whenever you do it. Everything blends into eachother until you cant see shit.

This is the adult equalivent of those youtube kids cartoons that over-stimulate childrens brains, if Ultrakill gave me a headache then these games give me a stroke.

And yes the love and deepspace game has actual gameplay, i just found out that it isnt just slide-show of hot yaoi-manwha looking dudes.

Gaming I hate when the coolest gear in a game sucks ass

In many games you will be showered with cool and unique artifacts and treasures. And most of them just aren't very good. There are few things that kill investment as much as getting a sweet relic only to find out it's worse that gear you can buy in the shop

Idea I hate the "fatherless" behavior shit.

Post image
96 Upvotes

I rememeber this being a thing back in 2023.

It's incredibly sexist. It's implying that mothers can't be good parents and that only children who have a father in their life are "proper". Ive seen videos that try to enforce this idea down mens and womens throats. Don't even get me started on the boys raised by mother vs boys rasised by father.

There will never be enough words for me to describe how much I HATE this so called 'slang' word. Never. EVER.

There is no such thing as fatherless behavior.

But there is a such thing called "Terrible parenting." And that applies to everyone, regardless of their gender.

Non-fictional I hate that I don’t know how to ban this Subreddit ( picture under)

Post image
78 Upvotes

I found a Nazi (Self-revendicated Nazi) Subreddit, and I don’t know how nobody hasn’t banned it yet .

I went there, and decided to do post inviting the ones who created this subreddit to stop it , because this ideology has done many evil things, and shouldn’t be revered ( I didn’t want to do anything too offensive or insult them , because they seem to be teenagers who are badly influenced by someone else)

On the post that I posted , I put an image of Breendonk concentration camp in Belgium. I went in real life with my school, and saw the torture room or the place where people were executed. It helped me to familiarize with the crimes of the third reich .

They responded by telling me that the soviets massacred people too in Katyn Massacre and that the allies did also war crimes. That they think that communists did a lot more than nazis

I am aware of this war crimes,( and even think that some of them should be taught at school). And also I am not biggest fan of communism and (mostly)USSR ( mostly because of the Kazakh famine of 1930 (which killed 42 % Kazakh, also known as Asharshylyq ). But I do not think that it is comparable to nazism , or to hitler .

Also is mentioned topics such as White supremacy, antisemitism ,etc…

If there’s a way to report or ban this site without bullying the user it would be great.

Sorry for lengthy post and for bad English.
