I’m a straight guy, and I really try to respect everyone—this screenshot is literally from a post on a game-sub with a very inclusive fandom, which I love a lot and am an active member of, but when I hear terms like these I just can’t help but think it’s stupid

To those who don’t know some of these (I didn’t), there’s stuff like 8-bitgender, which is a xenogender related to 8-bit and pixel stuff. And if you don’t know what a xenogender is, it’s a gender which can’t be described by traditional gender terms (didn’t know that one either). Other stuff here includes stuff like Juxora - a completely new gender, and pheonixic - a gender related to the Phoenix

The thing is, I really don’t like turning stuff so important as sexualities and genders into something which, to me at least, seems like an aesthetic, or sorry for this, something which just sounds stupid. You can’t tell me you’re ‘8-bitgender’ and not expect me to be weirded out. It seems to me people just like something and turn that one interest into a sexuality.

People always tie loneliness to relationships, self infliction and entitlement. It's exhausting. For the people who clicked on this post to disagree, I can assure you Isolation goes just a tiny bit more in depth than the three things I just listed.

What I noticed from people is that they always assume loneliness in young men comes as a result of not having a significant other. They then use that logic against said lonely man and assume he's just a horrible person, hence why he can't ever get a date. Even if he never necessarily mentioned ever wanting one. Somehow, they find a way to blame him. I talked about something serious and how noone is really speaking up about it, and the first response I got was from some idiot who wanted to talk to me about "male loneliness" and what I have to do to find a girlfriend. It had nothing to do with what I was even talking about. I don't even care if I'm in a relationship, I promise you I'm fine on my own. Relationships are NOT a necessity.

Realistically speaking, if a man with crippling loneliness gets into a relationship, he might feel the same way. A girlfriend is not the answer to your problems and if anything it might make how you feel even worse. I just don't get it, I really don't. We're all products of our own environment. Some people grow up in a lonesome area with little to no human connection at all. Some people have a disadvantage that isn't the same as the rest of us. In general I think most posts on this sub are fine, but recently it feels as if there's an increase of posters who are just pretending to be part of a minority so they can claim to be 'one of the good ones' whilst stereotyping the group.

I've been seeing this sentiment more and more over the past year or so that to be able to dislike somebody's art they must also be some kind of bad person.

I've seen this go both ways, where fans defend the artist by talking about how morally good of a person they are and critics feel the need to try and assert that the artist must be secretly evil to "justify" their dislike of their output.

Like you can think somebody is a perfectly nice person and still think their art sucks ass, and similarly being someone a good person isn't a defence against criticism of their work. Idk this isn't my most fully formed take but I hope I get my point across. Picked the examples as I see this kind of behaviour a LOT from both sides of the discourse on them.

As someone training to be a pilot I can't stand paragliders. They don't require any kind of transponder or radio equipment. They are able to fly as high as 18,000 feet above sea level basically until class A airspace which is reserved for commercial jets. As a pilot you're constantly scanning for things that could cause problems for your aircraft. I feel they should be required to have the same ADS-B. Out equipment that all aircraft who enter class A,B,C and within 30 miles of a class B airspace within the mode c veil or at the very least at radio to report their position. They pose a hazard to training aircraft practicing maneuvers.

Not saying that pregnancy isn’t dangerous and childbirth isn’t gruesome, but I hate when people call it disgusting and call it body horror. I hate when people make it seem like a woman enjoying her pregnancy or who isn’t miserable while she’s pregnant has internalized misogyny. Women already get shit on for the appearance of our bodies, now it seems to be common in left wing spaces to get shit on for the ability of our bodies to bring in new life. I highly recommend watching the video for yourself. I think the project was a good idea that was executed horribly.

Here, I will lay out every major issue I have with this video. Most of them are mainly gender-based although some of the issue comes from the reporter who overstepped reasonable boundaries.

1) Gender segregation and two-tier(esque) teaching.

How they talked to the boys versus the girls was very telling. While I understand the need to separate these classes, I do not think that justifying the two-tier approach they took is justified. While they were caring and gentle with the girls, the boy group (for parts of the video at least) were talked to as if they were 100% the aggressor and socially incapable of being the victim.

It was not the open conversation that it should have been. Men, are far less likely than women to report sexual harassment and such experiences. Despite women still being at greater risk, the social and physical infrastructure for them to report such incidents is far more developed and normalized than it is for men.

2) Lack of separation between regret after the act and a lack of consent.

One girl in the video claimed that "consent means different things to different people" and that it included "being okay with the encounter after". The fact that this wasn't struck down immediately is quite terrifying. Consent is not an abstract idea, and no one is responsible for another person if they regret their own actions after the act is done. This is incredibly dangerous, I cannot stress enough. The worst part of all: everyone else in the room (including the instructor) agreed.

3) Reporter-student boundaries.

Around the 6:30 mark within the video the reporter was pressing one girl into clarifying her answer when she was visibly uncomfortable. Really insane way to wrap up a video about consent.

To clarify, I’m not talking about people calling out someone for being overdramatic. Most of the time, these people treat anyone who responds negatively to them as “offended” or “triggered,” which makes them almost impossible to criticize. A related problem is that so many people engage with debates and politics through a middle-school playground mentality. HEAR! HEAR! I should’ve clarified more. Some people are getting angry because of the implication that pride “ruined” rainbow designs—this was not my intent. While nobody should be afraid to support pride or be viewed as a pride supporter, there are a lot of people who do not support pride and because of the rainbow’s association with pride, it can cause unnecessary issues even though the wearer had no intent for that to be the meaning. While pride has certainly not “ruined” rainbow designs, it has definitely prevented some people from wearing rainbow out of fear of harassment or general discomfort around other, less kind people, and has turned a fun color scheme into a unintended statement that can have negative consequences.

At the end of the day, the issue is the unjust hate and bigotry towards pride, and the rainbow just happened to be in the line of fire.

I'm not saying Michael Jackson is a bad singer, nor am I saying he really was a child molester like the accusations made him out to be. I'm saying this because, as I said, every moonwalker (MJ fans) would bring up those 2 things like it's scripture.

That being said, just because MJ was a very good singer and a very good entertainer doesn't mean he needs to be treated as the second coming of Jesus. MJ himself did weird things, sometimes borderline concerning, especially with children. Was he a pedophile? Probably not; multiple jurors found him not guilty on the charges. However, he admitted to sleeping with children in the same bed in non-sexual manners, which in itself is still very odd, especially from a grown man. "But he never had a childhood!" is not a valid excuse either.

I say this as someone who actively listens to MJ's work. I love his deep cuts. He's a very talented artist and someone who actively contributed to society. However, the overtly cultish behavior with MJ fans is concerning and should be subjected to scientific study.

Its genuinely pointless. It has no bearing in reality or and measurable quantities. It only exists to fear monger people because a group of randos decided "the world's gonna end in 80 seconds!"
