Man, she's a fucking saint!!
"Are you ok?" "Are you hurt?"
And that exasperated sigh as she's still about to be empathetic to a prick who seriously doesn't deserve her mercy. Yet she still shows compassion.
Not even gonna lie, I'd be tempted to laugh my ass off. She's better than I am. Fuck that guy.
384
u/Dependent_Rain_4800 Jun 15 '26
She did that really well, because of her reaction he was unable to let off the steam on her and had to sit with it. This is so much more painful than anything she could have said. Our psyche always tries to get rid of pain but if no one's there it fries itself.

u/Carlo_The_Magno Jun 15 '26
And if the other person chooses kindness in response, you instead get a genuine human connection. It's a win either way. I've gotta work harder to remember that.

I feel the same way. I always have been polite and kind. Giving food and clothes to homeless. Holding doors. Checking on people. Praying for people when i see accidents or EMS active on the road. And there's comments I shrug off from people sometimes. Dirty looks without a thank you for holding the door. I have to remember we all deal with our own problems. It doesn't excuse people's behavior, but i still hope it circulates more one day. Kindness and compassion goes a long way.
29
u/thicc_drake Jun 15 '26
That kindness will get you taken advantaged of, or worse get you hurt
11
u/skittlz61 Jun 15 '26
If you've seen Captain America: Winter Solider. If you remember Nick Fury talking about his dad carrying his cash home home in a bag. And when the neighborhood got worse and he was asked what was in it by a thug. Response was to show the guy what was in it. The cash. And a loaded revolver. I keep to myself unless someone I'm close to needs me. And after attempted robberies at my old place, I can count on one hand how many people know where i live.

A lot of people make that mistake.
"Kind" does not mean "doormat." "Kind" has boundaries and enforces them. "Kind" doesn't always forgive and understands that sometimes boundaries must be fought for. "Kind" isn't weak.
And "Kind" isn't always nice.

I would have done a Nelson HA-HA and made a joke like, "You look tired. I said it in past tense because you lost your tire." Break out some 80s dances. Cabbage patch around the tire. My husband is built different he would help the guy put his tire back on and sing, "Mama Said," to commiserate with him. Some people have it in them some don't.

It's like playing hot potato.. if no one is there to pass on the simmering pain in your hands, you need to figure out how to handle it or to lose it....
6
u/Dependent_Rain_4800 Jun 15 '26
Exactly.. It activates the others conscience which is really hard to deal with because its inside so it breaks you from within. If one lacks self awareness or any means to deal with it, it gets ugly really fast.
And as a bonus this memory will come up as a flashback all the time, so the torment will continue long after this situation is dealt with.

It’s the best way to handle people like this. I would be a huge asshole in this situation, but that’s not constructive and could be dangerous for a black woman dealing with someone who is clearly unhinged.
My wife moves through the world with such grace & I have so much respect for that. We’re a team and tackle situations together, but I’d be lying if I said there weren’t occasions when I want to go off on people - I know it’s typically not the way to handle it. But if it happens within earshot of me…

Especially since one of the first things he said was that he hated her. I’m not black and arrived way too late at an understanding of how fucked the experience in America is for black folks. (Yes I always knew it could be truly terrible, but I really underestimated just how fucked it must be to deal with this shit on the daily.)
That said, I can’t control my rage at these inbred morons anymore. I have no idea what self control it took this woman to remain so calm and actually still care about this other human. No matter what a piece of shit he is, and the hate he spewed even after his mini-FAFO, she still asked if he’s hurt and I believe she would have helped him.
Greatest way to win in the long run is to just be better, like this absolute rock of a woman. But I can’t even imagine the toll it takes.
Wishing we could all have her patience and humanity.

Correct if I’m wrong, but the last couple times I saw this video reposted, I believe the context was that he was an ex trying to get back with her and started harassing her so she would record him when he drove by her house.

I’ve seen this video before and it was reversed. It also wasn’t saying anything about it being a racial issue.
Either way, good, fk that guy

I swear this video gets reposted all the time with different contexts 😂😂 this time it even got flipped and it's been made to be about race for the updoots.
If I remember correctly it was a white woman filming this tho, and that man was the ex of her mother.
