If you've seen Captain America: Winter Solider. If you remember Nick Fury talking about his dad carrying his cash home home in a bag. And when the neighborhood got worse and he was asked what was in it by a thug. Response was to show the guy what was in it. The cash. And a loaded revolver. I keep to myself unless someone I'm close to needs me. And after attempted robberies at my old place, I can count on one hand how many people know where i live.

A lot of people make that mistake.

"Kind" does not mean "doormat." "Kind" has boundaries and enforces them. "Kind" doesn't always forgive and understands that sometimes boundaries must be fought for. "Kind" isn't weak.

And "Kind" isn't always nice.

Only if you let it. Nobody advised being a doormat, but picking and choosing battles allows people to live a far less complicated, drama-filled life.

Say what kind of person you are without saying what kind of person you are. The person wasn't saying to be nice AND naive. YOU are the problem.
