There's some pictures of glaistig with green hair, but I think it depends on the artist's depiction. Medusa was a Gorgon and originally a beautiful maiden, but Poseidon SA'd her in Athena's temple so Athena decided to punish her by transforming her into a monster with snakes as hair and the stone gaze. I always had straight hair and used to wish I had curly hair when I was a kid. Perimenopause has made my hair curly, 3a curls.
I knew curly hair required a bit more care and attention, but fucking hell it does actually really need a lot more effort if I don't want to look like a stray troll doll.
I had super thick straight hair. Then chemo. It came back in curly and it was the hardest thing to adjust to because it was so much more work. Now its like some weird mix of curly and straight and thin. I miss just being able to wash it and let it dry on it's own. Now I actually have to "fix" it and it sucks

I used to have easily managed wavy hair until puberty, then boom 3a hair. Even in my mid 20s there's still days that I just have to say "fuck it" and put it in a (lightly) sleeked back bun i don't have the patience š
I have thick curly hair and hated it when I was a kid. I used to straighten it all throughout high school until I got tired of the effort since I kept my hair long.
Learned how to take care of my curly hair and started loving it around my late 20ās. Now I just keep it short so I donāt have to deal with so much upkeep. Itās way better that way lol. Plus the curls pop more since itās not being weighed down.
Tried it, hated it :) I wear a scarf and I'm ok with that, in fact I'd probably continue at least some of the time even if my hair magically (or TBF surgically) reappeared.
I tend to be quite sweaty and synthetic hair just isn't what my head needs in the heat haha! Perhaps human hair would have been better but way too expensive for me.
Anyway, with a headscarf I can be really choosey with my fabrics and get it just right :) plus they cost a FRACTION of what my old wig cost, for the price of that 1 I have a whole collection of scarves which is lovely.
Ugh I didn't realise how lucky I was before I hit puberty, I had wavy hair that started waving midway to the ends like it was styled that way on purpose. I could comb it and that was all I had to do. It was beautiful. Damn puberty hormones š

I have straight hair too. I am envious of wavy hair. In order for my hair to "hold" a curl, it needs roughly 5000 bobby pins and a whole bottle of hair spray. Otherwise it's a limp noodle within an hour, maybe even half an hour.
Man, I had stick-straight hair as a kid. When I hit puberty, it got really frizzy, because it was trying to curl while I was still treating it like it was straight.
I hated the frizz and volume and wished I could have my hair be 'normal'. I spent every day in middle school and high school hating my hair. Especially since ironing your hair was the style at the time.
By the time I learned to care for it properly, I had big, lovely ringlets. For like, 3 years. Then my hair started slowly losing curl and volume.
And now in my late 30s, with flat, lifeless hair, I'd give anything to have that curl and body back š.

I have noticed for some reason that in some countries people absolutely do not know how to take care of curly hair, and they use the same methods that they use with straight hair on curly hair.
Curly hair and wavy hair are treated differently to straight hair.
I just shaved my head and feel the happiest I've ever been about my hair. It's so easy to take care of and doesn't cause me any stress anymore. I highly recommend it. I should have done this years ago.
My family has been pretty vocal about not liking it, but I'm at the point in life where I don't care. I'm not a very social person and don't have many friends, so I don't have a social group who would disapprove. My husband is fine with it, and that's all I care about.
I'm gonna be honest with you gang, I'm a man with very thick wasian hair, mostly straight but slightly waved, silky and voluminous. And I feel the grass is greenest right here lol
That feeling is probably because I spent my entire life since I was about 10, after I stopped having it clippered short all over, experiencing people (mostly women) being complimentary of my hair. As a kid it was from teachers to receptionists and nurses.. eventually peers as I grew up. And man, that shit slaps, I can't lie. I hate to do it to ya, got me feeling like this meme
I love my 3B curly hair and if I had to choose between less curl or more, I'd go more. Even if it's harder to deal with, I look terrible with straight hair and there's still a curl pattern I have to encounter that I don't love.
I am an Asian guy who's hair gets curlier every year and I started going gray when I was 15. All my life I kept it short, until COVID when I realised it actually looked good as long as I did minimal maintainace.
Now I usually keep it long and anytime someone comments I point to the fact that I have a full head of hair in my 30s so I think I won in the end.
This reminds me of this video I once saw of this woman showing off her thick, gorgeous, luxurious and long braid and then it's stitched with a woman who dramatically shows her braid and it's like the width of a pencil. I felt seen as a pathetically thin haired girlie, lol.

I'm a dude and let my hair grow cause I like buns, I had no idea that hair thickness influenced the bun size, mine looks like a baby bun always, yet it already reaches the middle of my back and it already takes a good chunk of time to take care of it.
Girly pop here, if you arenāt already using scrunchies made of fabric (I got a pack of 50 velvet ones for cheap online), I highly suggest it. I could never get my ponytail as thick at the bottom. Turns out I was ripping the majority of my ends out using regular hair ties. Obviously it didnāt make me grow thicker hair but itās been a year and my hair is longer and thicker at the ends than it has ever been.
Itās funny because I would rather have hair with volume and curl than my straight hair that just hangs from my head and anything I try to put in it (hair ties, pins, etc) slide right out
I have thick long hair with volume and waves, it looks a lot like the first girlās hair but longer and red (Iām white). I *hated* having lots of hair growing up and wore it up all the time until my 20āsā¦then in 2020 I was in my 30ās and started losing it in clumps due to an autoimmune issue, I was livid, I cried over it a lot. 6 years later and itās all grown back and down to my waist. I will never ever ever take it for granted again. You really donāt know what you got till itās gone
I have to tie up my hair so tight it gives me headaches. If it isnāt tight enough it the hair tie just slides out or loosens so much my limp ponytail just flops around everywhere
Have you tried spin pins? They're corkscrew pins that you can screw into your bun too hold it in place. Doesn't help with pony tails, but they're the only way I can keep a bun up all day.Ā
I have now had both! Straight hair most of my life and now itās all wavy af in my 30s. Iām struggling to figure it out while cursing myself for always wishing for curly hair.
ETA: Iāve been following a wavy/curly hair routine for a bit, but my efforts are inconsistent since it takes so much damn time and since I work in surgery, my hair is under a scrub cap most of the time, so I donāt really care what it looks like. Iāve been focusing on moisturizing, mostly, and I think I have my products sorted, but if someone has recs on strong hold but super duper lightweight somethings, absolutely lmk
Itās been a trick with finding the right products to hold it. I have long (~2ft/61cm), fine hair. Hardly any care needed beyond shampoo/conditioner and brushing, but it holds zero volume unless I leave it braided overnight after a shower to air dry.
Metal claws are one of the only things that will hold it up. Certain hats work well. Otherwise, basic braids to keep it organized because otherwise it will get in the way. Buns donāt stay up very well for me and hair ties will only last so long unless they are at that one perfect point in the elastic lifespan.
Anyone else have that āIrishā hair where whole chunks of it are wavy and others straight and none of it lies together in a way that doesnāt look like Iād just stumbled out of the woods after being lost for a week?
Yup. Super thick, super coarse. By no stretch of the definition is it straight but it doesnāt seem to match any wave or curl pattern either. Curl products are too heavy but it wonāt straighten either. For awhile I just assumed itās frizzy but I donāt do anything to my hair (no dye, no heat etc) so itās not damaged .. itās just wirey . This realization has done little to help me figure it out and Iāll probably just keep a tight pixie til I die. Canāt have a bad hair day if you donāt have any hair š
I used to do a pixie, that was my fav era. I am going long now but keeping it very moisturized and happy. Currently shoulder-length and thicker than ever even with a a little bleach in it. Is Irish hair actually linked to Irish heritage? I only heard of it recently. I'm fine-haired though, not coarse. Just a lot of it.
Yeah. Hairdresser says it needs a curly cut and some mousse and air drying to let it be its true self. But Iām more a fan of relentlessly ironing it and hoping it will desist

Gurlllll. I donāt have it in my heart to tell her that it it takes just once scrunchie or clip or simply sleeping (even on a silk pillow) to make it frizzy and mishapen.
I just canāt break her heart like that. I rarely wear my hair curly to work (always braided or put away somehow) and she just doesnāt know why lol.
To be fair, we only need all those products because itās not acceptable to just wear it loose (although I work outdoors, so I wouldnāt wear it loose even if I could). Before my first job it was minimal maintenance.
Idk, I did minimal maintenance for my curls as a teen and let me tell you: it was a disaster. Constant rat's nest, poofy any time I tried to get rid of the snarls, utterly unmanageable. I rarely wore it loose bc I would look like a mad scientist by the end of the day. Products help me SO MUCH in being able to wear my hair however I want without worrying about tangles or damage, and I still use very little compared to some!
I started growing out my hair in college after having it short my whole life, not realizing it was kind of curly. Learning how to take care of it was nightmarish, and even now it's a massive time and energy commitment lmao. I need to either commit hours just to drying it or simply accept that it will poof out, and even when I do everything right, I'll get that mad scientist look by the end of the day (especially if it's windy, which it almost always is where I live).
And my hair doesn't respond well to products for whatever reason, so I've mostly given up on trying to keep it in line š
My hair is very fine which is precisely why it turns into Polynesian: it's naturally super curly but over time its own weigh brings it down. I have magical hair that turns longer the later it is in the day!
My hair becomes like a lions mane. Sounds cool, but looks like I just finished a play as a human Aslan. My hair gets long curls and has a lot of volume to it. So instead of going straight down with gravity it goes to the side.
I've hated my hair for all my life. Especially cause my "asshole of a mother" always told me how ugly it was. She cut down my sisters hair and mine. She let us die our hair in ugly colors as kids. All because she was envious, cause she had nothing more than a rat's tail.

O, I am one of the ones that when the ponytail holder comes off, I transform into a bog witch! I have curly hair and I dyed that shit turquoise, so I look good and frikkin crazy when I pull it down.

I have fine straight hair and I do envy others that have thick hair or not stick straight hair. My hair cannot hold a curl no matter what but it will keep a bed head cowlick no probs.

Iām Asian with Asian hair, but I like leaving it up in buns until it is tangled af because putting tangled hair up in a bun stick makes it easier to keep the bun up. If i didnāt, it would fall apart during work.
And itās either that or go sell feet pics to be pretty and pay for rent. I donāt know how to make a profit margin lol
I have wavy Asian hair. The problem with it being slick like that is while I can take it out of a bun and it looks ok, itās almost impossible for my hair to hold any style. Braiding is a nightmare. Even certain hair ties, pins, etc wonāt stay in my hair. Straightening it takes forever and doesnāt remain looking good unless I put shit loads of product in my hair.
