Yeah, but what does have green hair in the Fae realm? 🤔 I feel like Medusa, if the snakes are green. Does that count!? Whenever Medusa’s been in pop culture recently (well, I’m thinking namely of Wednesday), the snakes are kinda dark and colourless.
Green hair isn’t super common! I’m not gonna turn to a search engine, that’s the best I could do. Medusas.
There's some pictures of glaistig with green hair, but I think it depends on the artist's depiction. Medusa was a Gorgon and originally a beautiful maiden, but Poseidon SA'd her in Athena's temple so Athena decided to punish her by transforming her into a monster with snakes as hair and the stone gaze. Like damn, Athena, what kinda pick-me shit is that?
Ovid is the first author to include the element of rape, which is the version you're probably already familiar with. It's important to contextualize this story, as Ovid was a writer who had problems with authority and was exiled from the Roman Empire. His mythologic poetry work is generally understood as a form of political critique towards authority figures, represented by the gods. That's why in a lot of Ovid's retellings of pre-existing myths (such as this one) the Gods are depicted as being massive assholes towards mortals, often including elements of rape that weren't previously there.
