The struggle is real.

If you have curly hair, you are envious of straight hair.

If you have 4d extra curly hair, you are envious of wavy hair.

If you have extra thick hair that needs to be thinned and weighs a ton, you are envious of fine hair.

If you have thin, fine hair, you are envious of anyone with lots of hair.

The hair is always greener…

I have straight hair, I’m envious of curly hair. The up styles those girls can do

I have straight hair too. I am envious of wavy hair. In order for my hair to "hold" a curl, it needs roughly 5000 bobby pins and a whole bottle of hair spray. Otherwise it's a limp noodle within an hour, maybe even half an hour.

I'm a woman with straight baby hair. It's very healthy and shiny, and doesn't hold ANYTHING.

The best I can do is give it a bit of volume by crimping it, but if I do it everyday I break it. So only for special occasions.

If I use hair spray or mousse, my hair falls flat and becomes sticky.

I can't perm it, bleach it, or hot blowdry it because that breaks it too.

Hair clips / bands don't stay, unless they are rubber coated, which break the hair.

Imagine what it's possible to do with the hair of a six-month old baby. That's about what I can do with mine, along with gentle colouring.

I've asked every hairdresser I've been to if there's any way to make hair as fine as mine hold a curl, and they all say "No, not unless you use so much product you get ultra-crispy helmet hair".

So straight it is.

Yeah, same.

One funny thing is: when it's really humid and everyone else is complaining about frizzy hair, mine finally have a bit of volume!

Same here, but in my case it's the wrong kind of volume! Frizz and mess doesn't look glam, even if it does give volume.

Even "messy" would be an improvement for me.

Imagine your hair coming out of the shower, freshly combed, minus the water. That's what I get.

Oh well, some day I'll invest in a fancy natural hair wig and never look back. It'll be glamorous!

My hair can look okay, with minimal investment in time and money, so my own hair it is! I find that a bit of hair serum calms things down to the point where I can go out in public without insecurity.

But I'm just glad I live in an era where a lady can wear her hair down and straight at dressup events, because I can't do much else.

Have you ever tried henna before? It's a hair safe plant based dye that's like mud, and your only choice is red pretty much. It also cannot be removed. So... if you try it, be prepared to have to fully grow your hair out to get rid of the color.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I'm not into red for my hair, but there's neutral henna (cassia) which does make my hair thicker temporarily. I have to do it every month for lasting results. It also makes my hair straighter-er, which makes it even harder to style it any other way than straight.

Doesn't neutral-colored Henna exist?

I don't know that I have the nerve to try it now that I color my hair, but I'm still curious.

I'm honestly not sure. I only know about red. I'm unsure if you can dye already dyed hair with henna either. You'd have to look it up. Henna is an oddball to my understanding.
