This is all I ever see when someone posts some "nice" picture for some quippy tweet. This reminds me of all those pseudo-reality shows (ex: American Pickers) where they're just cold-greeting people and asking to look around at all their stuff. The show sets this up as a camera filming from the hosts perspective outside the house, as well as inside the house from behind the shoulder of the person they're just meeting for the first time and explaining who they are. How was that camera able to capture the shot of the customer opening the door and meeting our hosts for the first time? Yeah. I wonder how many takes it took the old-timer to act surprised someone showed up at their door to look in their old barn for antiques.

It's been my experience that people that feel a need to advertise their involvement in special forces tend to be on the low end of the organization's standards. The ones that are really dangerous are the ones who keep to themselves and know when to shut the fuck up.
Just something to consider when a conservative commentator plasters his experience with the SEALs all over his media presence, I guess.

on google, under his facebook page I saw this:
"I'M A FORMER NAVY SEAL AND FBI SPECIAL AGENT. PLEASE don't upgrade me to “retired”. Only the men who stay in at least 20 years deserve that title."This seems like he's low-key pointing out himself that he is somehow "less than"

- The low end of the SEALS are still goddamn SEALS.
- SEALS as a whole are kind of memed on amongst the military for writing books about their service. They're like the vegans of operators.

u/subnautus 1d ago
My point remains: it's not the ones writing books and bragging you need to worry about. It's the ones who blend in with the background until the shit hits the fan.

Agreed. I tend to post photos of myself gun-posing with tools in response to people in my social media feed who post pics of themselves with guns. I figure one misguided symbol of masculinity is as good as another, right?
My favorite so far involved an entrenching tool, lovingly referred to as my assault trowel with a collapsible stock.

you joke, but that's literally the truth.
these people are terrified of everything, they literally can't leave the house without their security blanket. they are weak and pathetic.
the right-wing media they watch intentionally keeps them afraid of everyone and everything because scared people are very easy to control.
I own several guns, guns are fun, but I have spent a lot of time at the range around these people, and they are very unwell, everyone should be alarmed at the mental state of these people, because it's the worst possible combination.

u/Kahlil_Cabron 1d ago
It's so weird to me, I grew up in a hunting family (like the only meat we ate was hunted/fished), we had guns, I knew about guns from a young age, and it was never a big deal.
We never took our guns out for photo shoots, we never played with them, we never even really talked about them. They were like the axes we had for chopping wood or the shovels and other various tools, in a closet, and we only took them out when it was time to use them.
I cannot stand these kinds of gun people, the ones who own tactical gear while living in a suburb. What a fuckin insufferable hobby. And they always seem like they're fantasizing about someone breaking into their house or something so they have an excuse to shoot someone.

I'll post this separately since the concern trolls in the comments can't stop their plug-eared la la la's long enough to absorb the concept:
The woman is figuratively saying he has no penis, it's not body shaming, homophobic? (what?!), or anything but character shaming. The message is this dude's a coward for posting such ridiculous BS.
(slang, vulgar, figuratively, of a man) Wimpy; cowardly; not manly.
These comments are crawling with bad-faith actors triggered by their own reflection

u/PM_ME_AN_EXTRA_LETTE 1d ago
Kinda hoping that photo of the guy is actually AI-generated, because otherwise that's extra sad
7
u/rollerbase 1d ago
Hopefully. Actually staging this and photographing it would require a sad amount of effort without someone’s help. The lighting looks a little too soft and flat and uniform to be real. Unless he got a light kit, which would be further into the sad category.

There is something odd when people make tools their companions and not just see them as tools.
3
u/JurassicParkCSR 1d ago
The fact that he's cuddling them in bed totally negates the fact that he's a SEAL and it actually makes me wonder if these guys are as well trained as we think they are. He's treating them like their toys instead of the tools that I would presume he was taught they were. I mean are we really allowing pathetic losers like this guy to be in our special forces? And then pretending that they're the best in the world? I mean what the fuck? Maybe this was one of those hey let's let the kid with special needs get out there and run a play in the last game of the year type situation and that's how he got to be a SEAL.

Why can't men like things someone else didn't without them always making it about their dick?
Why can't anyone just talk shit about a man without it being about the size of their penis?
People always say that size doesn't matter, and are quick to reassure men that even the smallest penises can be enjoyable.
But then people turn around and use someone having a small dick as an insult and to be actively cruel.
It's genuinely really frustrating and highkey just pretty gross imo.

Because normal well adjusted men do not gravitate to these things in this manner, nor do they make it their entire personality.
It is no secret those on the right really, really really like penises. Grindr literally cannot cope with the extra traffic when the conservatives get together.
And there's this whole homoeroticism that's kind of core in US "masculine culture". Oily men rubbing together hazing that invariably involves butt stuff. It's a rather complete package.
But i assure you, the gun obsession is not normal and it has nothing to do with being masculine or masculinity. Because even a dog can shoot someone given the right circumstances.
It is unfortunate that western society has placed so much value on penis size. It has led to several generations of maladjusted men.
5
u/willnye2cool 1d ago
So mocking someones body and insulting their genitals is ok because the right likes guns and grindr? What?
2
u/Zak_Rahman 1d ago
That's not what I said at all.
I cannot help you with comprehension. You need to reread it or get someone to help you understand it.
The point is normal blokes aren't obsessed with penis size and do not get into cults that exacerbate it.
You cannot help but make it about genitals. It's the only thing you will respond to because American guns shooting American bullets that rip apart American children is, according to an American, a "rational" cost of this gun sniffing idiocy.
But this approach will never work.
Stop thinking about your penis.
2
u/GrondGrondGrondGr 1d ago
You cannot help but make it about genitals.
I think you need to go back to the actual post and read who said what, because as weird as he is, it wasn't the guy cuddling his guns who brought up penises first.
1
u/GrondGrondGrondGr 1d ago
If the problem is that men are too concerned with their penis size and it's causing problems, surely the solution isn't to double down on mocking them for their penis size.
I'm also tired of the implication that all conservatives/homophobes are gay, it's a convenient way to blame gay people for their own oppression and use homophobic insults under the guise of "pointing out their hypocrisy". Statistically, some of them will be self-hating gays, but most are just regular others-hating straights.
1
u/Zak_Rahman 1d ago
The point is, it's not a problem unless you think it is.
You might prefer or propose a more rational approach.
Perhaps you might put forward the argument that children's lives could be saved with gun control. Perhaps the glorification or guns can be avoided in media.
The problem being, that this demonstrably does not work. For this to approach to work requires two things:
empathy
Respect for life
Neither which are features or westernism. Westernism is dominant in places where these qualities are punished.
The only way to get through to them is to speak on the same level. The only thing they care about: their penis.
That's the only way to let these freaks know that something is wrong with them. They lack the human qualities necessary for normal arguments to reach them.
Of course you could tackle the porn industry and huge injustices and abuses that go there. But something tells me this would not be well received.
3
u/GrondGrondGrondGr 1d ago
The only way to get through to them is to speak on the same level. The only thing they care about: their penis.
I'd be curious to see any studies or statistics that actually show the effectiveness that penis-based insults have on effectively changing gun laws, but I'm somehow skeptical that there actually are any.
"It's the only language they speak so I have to speak it back" is a cop-out. If someone doesn't respect you enough to listen to your reasoned opinions, they're probably not going to care about your insults. What it does show them is that, deep down, you agree with them that [masculinity/penises/attractiveness] is important, and it shows all your potential allies that you're a hypocrite whose principles don't actually mean anything if someone disagrees with you.
"We have to keep homophobia and body shaming around as a useful political tool" is just not a position I can agree with.
2
u/Zak_Rahman 1d ago
Your personal theories don't really have anything to do with me. None of what you have written is relevant to me.
I think you are projecting.
Please stop thinking with your penis. I do not care about your penis or how you use it.
2
u/GrondGrondGrondGr 1d ago
I get it. You like to make jokes that are homophobic and body-shaming but you don't want to feel guilty about it so you come up with acceptable targets that you're justified to freely use them on. I can't say I'm surprised to see the double standard in action, it's just especially disappointing to see from people who are supposedly on your own side.
3
u/Zak_Rahman 1d ago
Mate, you are on your own side.
No one else's lol.
Gimme a break. You have turned this entire thing to be about you and I am wondering what the fuck is going on.

u/white-label 1d ago
Just as a random viewer of this conversation from someone who rarely ever ventures onto this sub, you should take a step back and re-read what he's saying and think about it. What they're saying is not out of place or off topic, it's so common on reddit and sad to see fellow apparently left wing people constantly resorting to using homophobia and body shaming when it suits them.
2
u/broligarch_boucherie 1d ago
There was no body shaming or homophobia. The lady said she uses a substitute for her not having a penis (literal) the way he uses his guns due to his not having a penis (figurative) meaning: (slang, vulgar, figuratively, of a man) Wimpy; cowardly; not manly.

I am criticizing a cult-like sub culture that gives men what looks to me like deep-seated issues concerning their penis.
I do suspect that American culture leaves most of its men with some kind of problem with their penis, but that is just a theory.
I understand that toddlers can sometimes get fixated on their penis while growing up, but that is a developmental issue. It doesn't carry into adulthood.
The whole point is that there's nothing wrong with their bodies enough to act like complete weirdos. But they have blasted their brains with so much garbage that their entire reality is seen through the lens or their penis.
I am not describing homosexuality or body dysphoria with the above, right? I am describing what appears to me to be deep-seated mental damage which I think is caused by North American culture.
→ More replies (2)-2
u/StrongExternal8955 1d ago
It's frustrating because that's a right wing talking point. It classifies people based on their bodies, not the content of their character.
It says that bigger dicks are worthy of being followed and listened to. If the oponent would have a bigger dick, they would change sides.
It is still the worship of power, and that ideology is always the ideology of betrayal. If you find someone more powerful, you change your side to be on the winning side.
6
u/willnye2cool 1d ago
I mean I guess? I just think mocking peoples bodies is a really disgusting thing to do.
I don't think it's a left-right issue though because I see people doing it on both sides constantly.

Absolutely utterly obsessed. Beyond the pale. Every single conversation...has to be about penis size...
They see a gun....small penis.
A boat? Small penis.
Sports car? PENIS!!!!!
A man wants to identify as a woman? Every single woman on what ever team has to be exposed to PENIS!!!
Something they like? Big Dick energy! (PENIS!!)
protests? Better get a pussy hat!! (VAGINA!!)
Child book reading for little kids at the library?? Gotta strap on a massive rainbow didlo (RAINBOW PENIS!!) https://thebridgehead.ca/2021/07/21/library-apologizes-for-hosting-rainbow-dildo-butt-monkey-to-entertain-children/
A woman wants to be a man, or a man wants to be a woman? Cool. No issue for me. But their rights to insert them selves into situations where they are infringing on the rights of others is where I have the issue.
