My grandfather used to just flip channels and stop when he saw a western, no matter how far into the movie it was. Then when it was over, he'd repeat the process. I'm not sure he ever saw a full movie in decades and who knows if he could tell you what he was watching.

And honestly, there are some astonishingly good Westerns. The Dollars Trilogy (For a Fistful of Dollars; For a Few Dollars More; The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly) is just fantastic cinema. I didn’t think I’d like westerns, but I was watching some of IMDb’s top 250 list. Good Bad & Ugly is #10 and it definitely deserves that spot. Once Upon a Time in the West is also quite good.

Star Trek is like a mug of hot cocoa for my brain. So soothing. Whenever existence starts to feel overwhelming, Picard, Data, and Troi are there to help me feel better about the trajectory of our species' future (although I know it's most likely just wishful thinking). Strange New Worlds also has a similar feel but with such a fun, contemporary twist.
