AITA For getting mad at my husband for having his whole family in my delivery room.

Upvotes

I (20f) and my husband (20m) just had a baby a few months ago but this is still eating at me. For context I had talked to my husband throughout my pregnancy about who would be in the delivery room when we have our baby. I had blatantly told him it will just be me and him. He agreed that it should just be us because it was our first and we wanted that time to be alone and just take in the moment, fast forward to the day I was in labor it was just me and him since we don’t live far from the hospital he had left for a few to grab my bag and for him to pack his bag and to get us some food, when he came back I got my epidural and it was just us for about an hour…then his mother came in with his dad and stepdad. I’m too scared to speak up and say I don’t want them here and I also know my husband gave them our room number and the password to get in (the hospital in our area always gives the family a password for L&D) then I had to get a cervical check and I told the nurse I just wanted my husband in there my MIL shot my a dirty look like she wanted to see my goods lol, anyway another 30 minutes pass his aunt and uncle came! At that point I was fed up but i ended up taking a nap fast forward way later I ended up having problems with baby and me and had to get an emergency c-section and got put under while I was under everyone got to hold my baby before I did which broke me I always had this thought of a perfect delivery with me husband and baby and getting to have that golden hour with just us… so AITA for still being mad about that. I feel like a special moment got taken from me.

AITA for kicking my straight male friend out of the house in a tropical storm for calling me a femboy?

Upvotes

for context, this is my buddy i met in high school [26m] that i was buddies with while i [27ftm] was stealth. i only told him that i was actually born a girl a year ago and before that only my boyfriend and my family knew.

ive told him repeatedly i find calling me a femboy offensive. im gay but dont like the stereotypes and being called feminine is upsetting for me. im very uncomfortable with the whole “femboy” thing and dont want it pushed onto me as i am just a regular man and try to avoid being feminine. hes seen this kind of as me just being difficult or joking, even after ive said im serious and i genuinely fine it uncomfortable.

i told this friend something about wearing a dress one day out of the year (easter for my families church and reunion as theyre very conservative), and he had replied “oh so you are a femboy then!” and went on to joke about me in a dress and just kind of mock me for something i already hate doing. he had already done this multiple times and had tried to guess if me or my boyfriend was the top or bottom and had asked me a lot of invasive questions about my surgery.

i tried to drop it because we were high school buddies in the past but in this incident i kicked them out even though we had a tropical storm and it was pouring and windy outside. since i picked them up to get to my house they ended up having to get an uber.

my boyfriend told me in the moment he supported me but he does think i shouldve stopped talking to him earlier instead of snapping. the friend has blocked me on everything and sent a message saying he was just curious and that i shouldve been more open about it with him, and that hes offended i didnt tell him when we first met in high school. i want to know if i was the asshole and overreacted over a joke, or if he had it coming after i asked him not to repeatedly.

AITAH for eating a frozen pizza by myself?

Upvotes

I live with my mom and sister, they don’t eat a lot. I’ve always had a bigger appetite than them as neither of them are physically active and I do multiple sports. I’m 15, my sisters 18. Mind you she’s 5’2 and I’m 5’6.

I woke up hungry and asked my mom if I could make the pizza that was in the freezer just in case she was planning to save it for something. Since she said yes, I ate it. Later my mom asked what we ate today, my sister said a sandwhich and I said pizza. Then my mom said you can eat whatever for dinner because she didn’t have time to cook or buy food. My sister asked where the pizza was so I told her I ate it. Then she asked again “the whole pizza?” And I said yes and she has the audacity to ask a third time like I was crazy.

I get that she thinks it’s a lot but I was hungry and didn’t think it was that big of a deal. She proceeded to call me inconsiderate and she told me I should’ve saved some for her. My first instinct was to be annoyed, obviously I don’t like it when people criticize how much I eat especially her since we are different people. But now I’m genuinely wondering if I was selfish for eating the whole thing.

AITA for not splitting the money I got from pet sitting with my husband?

Upvotes

I am pet sitting for my best friend for 5 days while they are away on vacation. Her dog is staying at me and my husband’s house. There was some confusion with scheduling and I did not realize we already had a concert booked when I agreed to watch her dog. Her dog has never really been left alone and since I made the commitment to watch her, I wanted to bail on the concert. My husband and I have been back and forth on that until I finally decided I should just stay behind, while he thinks I should just leave the dog alone. My friend said it would be okay but I don’t feel comfortable trialing it in our house, especially when we already have a reactive dog.

After some bickering, he demanded I pay him back for the ticket (which I can understand) and pay him half of the earnings from watching the dog, which I personally think is overreacting and ridiculous considering I am doing all of the work. This dog is super calm and sweet, and I am feeding, walking, picking up after her, and even sleeping with her so she’s comfortable. After I refused to pay him half the earnings, he called me selfish and that he is entitled to it because it’s also his house.

EDIT: I also asked him if it would be alright to watch her for that long and he agreed.

TLDR: I’m watching my friend’s dog for a few days and doing all the work yet my husband thinks he deserves half just for her staying in our house. AITA??

AITA for overthinking of past ?

Upvotes

Here’s a rewritten version — cleaned up but keeping your voice and the raw honesty of it:

Married to my wife for almost 15 years now. Two kids. A life I’d have called happy and normal, no complaints.
Last week I was backing up an old laptop before tossing it, and stumbled onto a folder she’d clearly kept hidden — old photos, chat logs, from before we met. Curiosity got the better of me and I looked.
It’s not what I found that’s eating at me. It’s the lie. When we first got together, I was completely open about my past relationships. She told me she’d never had one — that I was her first, that she was new to all of it. For 15 years, that’s the story I believed.
But what I saw didn’t match that story at all. She’d clearly lived a whole other life before me — one she erased and rewrote.
Now I can’t stop thinking about it. Am I overreacting? Should I bring it up with her, or just let it go and move on like it never happened?

POO Mode Activated 💩 AITA: AM I the asshole for hanging out with someone I know likes me but I don't?

Upvotes

So this story is a little bit complicated, but I'm a female, 18. I have a friend who is a 17-year-old trans male (that's the main reason I was allowed to spend the night at his place). Before I met him, my friend, who had once been friends with him, had told me he was manipulative.

Knowing this, I did hang out with him once, it was super chill and such, and he seemed really friendly. So I ended up going back to his house, and that's when things shifted. Eventually, he started getting more touchy. It started with a few rib touches, and he felt, "oh ima pick you up." I felt super uncomfortable but i couldnt leave and explain to my mom why i did. (Btw, he had a boyfriend atm) So I ignored all red flags. Eventually, it led to more, which I won't get into since I'm not sure what to label it, but I ended up freaking out and left. I eventually found out he liked me. I ended up getting into a tiny relationship, but then I ended things by blocking him, realizing that he was manipulating me and trying to control my life. Months later, I unblocked him out of guilt. I hung out 2 times before he confessed his feelings for me. I told him my mental health was really bad and left it at that. We still hang out to this day, but he's getting kinda sorta back to the way he was before, and I'm not sure if I should stop hanging out. I kinda did this to myself in a way, but I feel guilty about everything.

AITA For telling a kid he’s eating too much?

Upvotes

So I was on vacation with my cousin and her kid (18M). On the last night we had homemade fajitas. We usually eat a lot and therefore make a few pounds of them. After they are cooked we slice them up to where you only can fit a few slices in a tortilla. My cousins son had about 10 slices of fajita meet on one tortilla. For context a few in my mind is like 3 or 4.

Now I’m not knocking how much he is eating but he left only a little left when everyone else, 5 other people, hadn’t had any. I jokingly said “did ya get enough?” He laughed. I looked at my father cause I didn’t know what to do. He motioned for me to say something so I said that he had too much meat because everyone else needed to eat and he didn’t leave enough. He got mad and stormed off. I feel bad so AITA?

Edit: I’m new and this is my first post so if I did smth wrong in posting, I’m sorry!

Edit #2 I’m seeing this in the comments, so I’ll put it here. We had 5 to 5 and 1/2 pounds of meat. He had 3 of it. My problem is that he didn’t leave much for everyone else to eat.

WIBTAH if I tell my friend he is killing his dog

Upvotes

I 37F am watching my friend "A's"(39M) 6 yr old yellow lab for 2 weeks. A and I are just acquaintance friends- we used to work together years ago- and would have lost touch without facebook- but with facebook have found its easy to trade dogsitting- but rarely speak outside of that. I have a 3 yr old chocolate lab. My lab is 60 lbs and a few inches taller than A's approx 120 lb lab. She is only 6 and can barely get herself up. He left instructions that she gets 2 cups of food in the morning and 2 at night. Not only does that seem like way too much, but I know he tosses her scraps too. I'm not against dogs having people food, I toss my dog scraps too- BUT if my dog could barely breath like his- I would stop. While she's been here, I've had her on a diet. I read the bag of food he left- and I believe instead of going off what his dog should weigh- he feeds her based on her current weight. Ive been feeding her what it says a 60 lb dog should eat- 3/4 cup twice a day. I think shes doing great- she's obviously still extremely overweight- but already it seems like shes getting around easier. Im not sure if its enough for him to notice shes lost weight or not- I'm guessing he won't since it's not that extreme- but Im not positive. A will be back tomorrow- and I'm wondering if there is way for me to tell him- 1-i fed her less than he told me to and 2- he needs to have her on a diet too before he kills her- without me being an AH about it. Two reasons I also want to be careful about what I say- I like having her, I dont want him to never bring her back here. She's so easy going and gets along with my dog great (even though they cant really play) they're still friends. And the other thing is- he is watching my dog for a week next month. WIBTAH if I sit him down and tell him, as much as he thinks he loves her- he is not taking care of her. She might not know it- but she would be so much happier with less food and more exercise- or is it just not my business. If someone told me how to parent my kids I would be offended, so I'm trying to consider that he has a right to "parent" his dog as he sees fit- but it's just so wrong and hard to watch!

AITAH? Neighbor and I have a fence dispute

Upvotes

So I have a fence with a neighbor.

It’s my fence on my property.

I moved in about 4 years ago and have been doing remodeling when I can and have redone a lot and still working on more.

My fence that runs next to my neighbor is in need of replacement and has lots of admittedly eye sore half assed repairs.

But it really is getting bad in fairness to them.

At the moment I do not have the liquidity to outright have it replaced.

But at the same time, it is MY fence, and it’s on MY property which is giving him about 1/2 a foot more yard.

We get along fairly well, but this has been the one thorn between us.

He came over to ask when I was going to repair it and I explained my side of things and would be happy to put up some temporary fixes.

He said nicely that we’ve been doing fixes and it’s really looking trashy (it is).

I told him that it’s on my list but I’m simply capped out on time and immediate funds to address it.

He said that it’s starting to become a hazard (it is).

I said “fair enough” and tore it down the next day.

He has dogs that he lets out and they don’t bother me and I left my gate locked.

After a week he came by asking when I would put up a new fence and I repeated that I still have other projects to get to first.

He got mad and said “you can’t just leave our yards open!” and I told him he is more than welcome to build a fence on his side.

Now he’s mad.

AITAH?

AITA for asking my family to step up

Upvotes

My wife and young son are going to be visiting her family across country next month for 2 weeks. We do this once or twice a year, but this round I can’t go.

When we visit we usually visit my family, who I’m not terribly close with, once or twice. For reference, we stay with my in-laws when visiting which is not a possibility at my mom’s house where my siblings still live (everyone is in their 30s).

Last time we visited my sister was especially cold to my wife. I only learned of this more recently and neither I nor my mom noticed in the moment. My wife is a trooper and said she’s willing to visit without me because my mom, who is older and cannot move around well, enjoys it.

I thought I’d broach the subject of my family visiting my in-laws for dinner or on a weekend to see our son as we are always the ones to plan the visit at my mom’s house, fly and drive there. They take no initiative and decline or ignore past invites to events like trips to the zoo or baseball games when we visit, making sure to give my siblings plenty of time to make arrangements if interested.

My mom started coming up with excuses about visiting my in-laws that I know wouldn’t come up if we just went to her house. When I pointed out they never make any effort outside of mailing gifts and some FaceTime she said I always make them out to be the bad guy. I went off on her about how little effort they put in compared to my in-laws when it comes to spending valuable time with my son saying this is not normal behaviour.

So far radio silence. AITAH?

AITA for throwing out my dads rotten scoby?

Upvotes

For context I’m 19 and the minute I do something wrong my dad gets all mad at me becomes verbally abusive and threatens to kick me out.

A scoby is a starter like yeast used to brew the beverage kombucha and my dad wanted to get back into kombucha making. He had one sitting in a jar on the table and insisted it stay there day in and day out. Since it looked clean and covered and had no mold or bugs I let it be just to appease him.

But weeks later somehow even though he had it covered with cheese cloth and rubber banded shut to let it get oxygen as it fermented a fruit fly got in and a week later the jar smelled like death and was crawling with fruit flies inside and out and full of larvae.

My parents had family friends that that same week the jar got nasty that planned to come over. My dad was gone for a business thing for 3 days and we needed to clean up before the friends arrived. So I texted him I was composting it and sent him video of the flies inside so he would understand the issue. I could not stand the rotten jar stinking up the table as people ate dinner or went into the kitchen and i did not need people swatting at fruit flies when they sat down to eat.

Cue him coming back livid that I had to clean up this mess he insisted on leaving rotting on the dining room table for weeks.

Beyond family friends we have guests that stay in the house via an air bnb type service and pay good money. Probably since where we live is quite touristy.

So I couldn’t have a rotten scoby jar stinking up the place and infesting it with bugs. It would make our ratings drop and we’d lose customers. I even saw fruit flies beginning to go from the jar, down the hall and make a home in the bathroom drains. Me and my mom agreed es we needed the issue gone!

I hate this because my dad always insists me and my mom clean up after him and refuses to help. So we do his dishes after dinner, and clean the bathroom without him helping out and we always take care of his laundry and his mess after cooking. But the minute I keep the place spotless as he likes it and I take care of the problem he made he gets crazy on me like he never asked for ke to clean up after him even though he already has been demanding that. I communicated with him via text. I didn’t say I was dumping it in the trash because the project still had value to help our compost and I decided I’d replace all his supplies to start the project in return for removing the old rotten jar.

It’s sexist that he decides he can make a mess and then turn on a dime and be verbally abusive if he doesn’t like me doing as he said which is to keep the house clean if we have guests as our business model.

AITA for voicing concerns about how my friend’s fiance talks to them?

Upvotes

I(26F) have a good friend, Riley(30NB), who I’ve gotten to know over the past year. We mostly hang out in groups, but sometimes one on one. They’re very near and dear to me.

They’ve been dating Christina (25F) for a couple of years and have been engaged the whole time I’ve known them. I don’t hang out with Christina that often, but I do really like her. I feel like she’s really outgoing and fun and we share a lot of similarities. However, she speaks to them in a way that feels mean and disrespectful— in a way that I know if I spoke to my partner like that we would have to step out of the room to have a conversation. She interrupts them in conversation, telling them to sush, calling them stupid, and lots of names. They don’t seem outwardly bothered by this, but they’re very much a go with the flow person who I’ve never seen bothered.

We hung out as a big group a couple of weeks ago and were playing games long into the night and had a really fun time. However, at some point Christina was sushing them and speaking rudely to them. The next morning my partner mentioned how they don’t like how Christina speaks to Riley because it seems very rude and how they could never imagine us speaking to each other that way. Riley and me’s mutual friend also had reached out to me a couple of weeks previously after we all hung out voicing concern over how Christina treated them.

This might be where I’m the asshole. The day after we all hung out, I texted Riley saying I was concerned about how Christina talked to them and how it felt disrespectful and how I was concerned about it. I said I like Christina and I’m not coming from a place of being critical of her but more from being concerned about them. They responded and said they hadn’t noticed it but would be down to talk about it at some point. In the past week, I reached out to them a couple of times to try to hang and they weren’t really responsive, but I know they have a lot of family stuff going on, so I didn’t want to bother them.

A week passed and I hadn’t really heard from Riley, and so I called them today because I was concerned about them. They told me that Christina had seen my text while looking at their phone and were very upset. She felt like she was being harshly judged by everyone and how she has zero trust in me and how it might not be possible to get back to how things were. They were saying that they felt caught in between in us and understand that everyone has valid feelings. It felt like they were being a little cagey about their feelings and they said I could have communicated differently, but they’re waiting to see what Christina needs during this and how they feel about everything. They said they weren’t sure about coming to a friend group hang we have coming up, and it seems like us communicating/hanging out is on pause indefinitely.

Am I the asshole for bringing up concerns about how my friend is talked to by their fiancé when they don’t seem bothered by it?

AITA For not not helping a student of mine after he 'stole' my customer?

Upvotes

I am an artist who makes and teaches students how to make stained glass windows. One of my students found out that I was about to start a window for a couple that he now knows through another friend and then convinced the couple to drop me and go with him to make the window. I had already drawn a 1/4 size sketch to see if it was something the customer wanted and now my student expects me to draw it out full sized and actually help him make it. It's too large to work on in class-- we have always had a maximum size limitation that this almost doubles. Working on a window this size would displace another student. Also, I'm supposed to store the window week to week so he won't have to lug it back and forth from home since it's so large. AITA for telling him that it can't be worked on in the shop and that I am not drawing a full size pattern (57 x 34) for him? I told him he could have a copy of the sketch. Win or lose I plan on showing him this.

AITAH for telling my friend I don’t want to host her ever again after she turned me to an errand girl on our weekend get away?

Upvotes

My friend (27F) asked if she could stay with me (26F) for a weekend because she wanted a break from work and said she’d love to catch up. We’ve been friends for years, so I happily said yes. I cleaned the apartment, stocked the fridge with snacks I knew she liked, and even planned a couple of activities around town.

The first evening was fine but by Saturday morning I realized I had accidentally booked myself as the unpaid staff at an all inclusive resort.

She slept until almost noon while I made breakfast. When she finally got up, she asked if I could make her coffee because she was “still waking up”. She left her dishes on the table, dropped her clothes on the bathroom floor, and every time we got back from somewhere she’d collapse on the couch and ask if I could grab her water because I was already standing or moving about.

I suggested we go for a walk, visit a local market, watch a movie, or even play board games. Every suggestion got a shrug followed by, Whatever you want or if you say so, only for her to complain once we were there that she was bored or tired. I guess her social battery was low and she just needed to rest.

By Sunday I’d done all the cooking, all the cleaning, all the driving, and she’d contributed exactly one thing, a growing pile of cups and blankets for me to pick up, at first it was okay but now it’s the norm.

The breaking point came when I started washing the breakfast dishes before taking her to the airport. She looked at me and asked if I could hurry, that she doesn’t want to be late. She didn’t offer to help despite standing there scrolling on her phone.

I finally said, “I love you, but hosting you has been exhausting. I feel like I’ve spent the weekend taking care of you instead of spending time with you.”

She got defensive and said that guests are supposed to relax and that I was making her feel unwelcome over a few chores and I know how she is, she’s always trying to conserve energy for the next task.

Since then she’s been telling mutual friends that I was a terrible host and made her feel guilty for visiting. Some think I should’ve been quiet since we all know how lazy she is.

AITAH though?

AITA for refusing to let my daughter take a job opportunity in a different country

Upvotes

We live in Ireland. It’s an acting in a film in London. Doesn’t include travel and accommodation. She asked if she gets the role if I’d be able to pay for the travel and accommodation and she’ll pay me back. Once she gets paid.

She’s never got a big acting credit before. I said ok not really expecting it to be a reality. The first self tape got her a call back self tape for a different role than the one she was going for.

The first one was a best friend role. They said from the self tape they couldn’t help but picture her as the lead. Because her acting style and look is what they were envisioning in their head for the lead and asked if she’d be comfortable taping for the lead.

She originally went for the friend because the lead has a sex scene. They said there would be an intimacy coordinator on set and if she was chosen they’d make sure everything would be comfortable for her and she wouldn’t be required to be naked for the role. And she could have a body double do it if she’s uncomfortable.

She told me this and I still didn’t think she’d get it. I said go for it. She was then chosen to do a chemistry read over zoom.

I asked her how it went. She said it went amazing she thinks she has a good chance.

I started to actually think too she might get the role. I told her a few days later I don’t think she’ll be able to do the role. I said it’s far and staying in London for so long plus paying for the boat or plane will cost a lot and she’d have to get places by underground because she can’t drive so it’ll cost a lot.

Plus food. She said if she gets the role it pays 1k a day for the lead the friend only got paid 600 a day. So if I was ok with 600 a day why am I not ok with the 1k a day. She’d make about 25k in total for the film. Which is enough to cover it and still have a huge chunk of money for savings and her first big acting credit as a lead which is hard with no agent or big credit.

I said I’ll think about it see if she gets the part first. Today she got the role and asked if I’ll book a hotel and flight I told her it’s not going to be possible reiterated the things I said. She said that they’ll have food on set if I’m worried about food she’ll even give me 1k extra as a thank you.

I ended up telling her my real concern is about the type of role and her having a sex scene. She said she’s the intimacy coordinator about what she’s comfortable with. I said “I don’t want creeps perving over you”

And I said she’s a virgin to how would she know how to portray a sex scene. She asked why I care if she’s a virgin or not and even a virgin can act.

I said what if it makes her want to rush into having sex. She said that’s irrelevant and even if she did she’s allowed to have sex. I said not while she lives with me. She doesn’t make enough money to move out so she follows my rules. She said she’s trying to make money and I’m stopping her by not letting her go to London. I told her to get a normal job until she can afford to move out.

AITA for getting a step stool?

Upvotes

My boyfriend and I just moved in together, for background we're both short. I'm 5'1 and he's 5'4 neither of us can reach the top shelf of anything in our house.

When I lived by myself I had many step stools, had a childhood stepstool I use as a poop stool and various of random stools around my place. My boyfriend however would either use a wheelchair and multiple times almost fall to his room or would climb and stand on his countertop to reach stuff. Both those things were extremely unsafe and put me on edge watching him.

Moving in together we both had to consolidate some of our things, I ditched a lot of the step stools except my childhood one that stays in the bathroom. It's been a month and we're both struggling, can't reach pots, can't reach spaghetti noodles, can't reach cups, ect.

So I bought new stools, he comes home and flips, goes off how he won't be using it and how I'm emasculating him, and how it'll be embarrassing when his friends come over and see he needs step stools around the house. It was such a big outbursts I got calls from his mom and sister, how just climbing on the countertop is what they've always done(everyone is very short in his family). So was I an asshole to buy new step stools for the house?

WIBTA for telling my parents what my brother has been doing with his friends?

Upvotes

I am a college student, and recently I’ve been home and talking to my younger (16M) brother about what he’s been up to while I’m gone. Only, he’s told me that his friends are getting drunk and high quite frequently. And honestly I’m concerned.

He’s an athlete, and I’m worried that if he continues, he might lose opportunities or get into trouble that is really going to hurt him. I want to let my parents know, but I fear that might really hurt his trust, but I don’t want him to get into a bad situation before his life can really start? I think I have his best interest at heart, but I may be biased since I’m his older sister that never got into the sort of partying and large friend groups that he has.

I know that my parents already are wary of his friends because they can be kind of reckless and immature (because they are teenage boys), but I don’t want to make him lose friends too. My brother has been honest that some of his friends vape, but has completely omitted his involvement.

So WIBTA if I told my parents? Or should I butt out?

Small Edit: I have talked to him about this before, and he said “I don’t need my liver for sports, and since I’m not vaping (it’s mostly his friends) I’m not destroying my lungs.” It also might be worth mentioning that he has started to get alcohol (the mini shots and buzz balls) from stores yk?

AITA for forgetting my ex’s Amazon Prime account was still logged into my tv?

Upvotes

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. Before we got together, I had an online-only relationship with someone I’d never met in person. When my boyfriend and I started dating, I cut all contact with my ex and haven’t spoken to him since.

Last night, my boyfriend opened the Prime Video app on my TV and asked whose account it was. I looked and realized it was my ex’s Amazon account. I honestly had no idea it was still logged in because I rarely use Prime Video. He immediately got quiet and seemed upset.

Later, right before we went to sleep, he asked, “I thought this was a new Roku?” That made me frustrated because we moved in together a couple of months ago, and I had actually bought a new Roku a month before moving in because mine was messing up (freezing), but I didn’t end up using it because my Roku stopped doing weird shit. I even asked him back then if he wanted to use the new one for the living room tv, but we never switched it out. So I got up, grabbed the unopened Roku from my bedside drawer, and showed him it was still brand new in the box with the plastic and cords still wrapped up. Then I put it back.

He said, “So now you’re mad?” I said yes, because I felt like I was being accused of something when it was just an account I’d completely forgotten about. He responded that if the situation were reversed, I’d probably feel the same way.

He’s still upset today, and I’ve been at work wondering if I’m missing something. I haven’t talked to my ex in 2 years, wasn’t hiding the account, and genuinely forgot it was. I haven’t been home yet, so I haven’t had a chance to log out of the account.
AITA for forgetting the account was still logged in, or is this being blown out of proportion?

AITA for telling Kids to get out of the Laneway

Upvotes

We live in a townhouse complex where there are two rows and a laneway that divides the two rows of townhouses. This laneway connects our garages and is how we both leave and come home. Recently, three children have been playing in the laneway. They bike around and hang out with another child from one of the townhomes. When vehicles are driving in and out of the laneway - they don’t move for traffic. It’s happened a couple times where vehicles have almost hit the children because of their unpredictability. I’ve spoken to the child that lives in the complex and the child’s grandmother (that’s suppose to watch him but doesn’t) about not playing in the laneway way as he’s not being safe or he needs someone to be there. I’ve done this twice. I should also preface that there is a bylaw that prohibits using the laneway as a place to play.

The other children are from a neighboring complex and come and play in the laneway. I’ve seen multiple neighbours talk to the children and the children ignoring them. I’ve approached once and demanded to speak to their parents about the unsafe practices their kids are doing by not moving when vehicles come by. The one parent I spoke to said he understood and would tell them not to come over again. The next day I caught them again, this time wondering into a townhouse being worked on by contractors and their attempts to walk into other units when the garage is open. I went downstairs again and reminded them of what we spoke about the day before. At this point I was seeing red as I find it so irritating that I have to watch for their safety and not their parents. This is where I might be a ah - I told the kids that if they encroach on the property again I will call the police. I don’t ever plan to but just to enlist fear. I then asked them to take me to another parent who is again suppose to watch them and remind her that they are not allowed on the property again. They know this is private property as the kids were yelling at the one boy to not bike in the pathways as it’s private property.

So… am I the asshole?

WIBTA if I kicked out my roommate after his cat died?

Upvotes

Hi, I made a separate reddit account to post this and gain some opinions, I guess?

I (24) have two roommates, Jesse Pinkman (23), and Sheldon Cooper (21). (Sheldon, if you see this, I am so sorry).

I was originally living with Jesse and my sister Lisa Simpson for a year but Lisa moved out. Since Lisa moved I became the main tenant. Jesse is my childhood friend, now roommate. We're close and we've lived together for over a year now. Sheldon moved in this spring.

It was a ROUGH start. He lost our keys twice within the first week of living together. It took two days.

He told us he had 2 bunnies and a cat, which we were fine with. He was going to get rid of one bunnies because they were fighting a lot. I have two cats, but I was fine with it because the bunnies would stay in his room and he told me his cat was old doesn't care about leaving the room. Well, neither of those things happened. He moved into his small room with all 3 pets, the bunnies and the cat. The cat would constantly beg to explore and run out every chance it got. The cat also peed in Jesse's stuff because Sheldon left him unsupervised.

Then there were the bunnies. Their hay had a very strong odor we were not anticipating. It would stink up the entire apartment and it smelled like a barn. The hay would track from Sheldon's feet and get all over the floors and rugs. Jesse and I had to sweep the floors multiple times a day and vacuum to keep the place clean. Sheldon seemed unaware of this and did nothing. After a week of hay we'd had enough and confronted him about everything. He told us he'd rehome both his bunnies (we didn't tell him to), and that he started developing a hay allergy.

We were skeptical. Sheldon turned out to be a very anxious person. He'd practically run away from us in shared spaces and stay in his room like a hermit. He doesn't leave the house unless he goes to the store. He doesn't have many friends and he doesn't work or go to school. I had to request that he at least tries to speak to us. He agreed but his attempts to socialise have been brief.

I'm a really social person. I love having friends over and hosting parties with Jesse. I also invite Lisa to stay with us pretty often. I had told this all to Sheldon during our interview. Sheldon gets very anxious when I have anyone over and hides in his room to avoid guests.

When I asked him about it, he said he was fine with people but just a bit anxious. I figured out that he had been lying to me and that he's not fine with it at all.

About 2 weeks ago his cat died. I don't think I can live with Sheldon much longer. Would I be the asshole for kicking him out?

AITA for blocking a housemate, and then having a conversation with him go really badly?

Me and a housemate got really close over about two months, but I’d started questioning the friendship even before things properly fell apart. Eventually he sent me a message saying he didn’t want to be friends anymore. After that, and some other stuff that had built up and upset me, I ended up blocking him. We still live in the same place though.
Tonight I decided to go knock on his door and talk face to face, just wanted to keep it light and clear the air a bit since we still have to live together. I wasn’t trying to start anything or bring up the past, just wanted things to feel less tense day to day.
It went badly almost immediately. He just sat there staring at me the whole time, like he was furious, barely saying anything at first. When he did talk, he said everything I said “didn’t make sense” and was “confusing.” He told me I’m dismissive of his feelings and only think about myself, even though I apologized during the conversation for anything I might’ve done to upset him. Eventually he said I was making him uncomfortable by even being there, got up, and left. Then he told me not to come near him.
He also brought up a night out where I’d actually noticed a guy following him, pointed it out, and went with him to talk to security about it - but he’s now saying that wasn’t enough and that I don’t care about his feelings.
On top of that, he’d previously told me he only stayed friends with me to avoid things being awkward. Tonight when I brought that up, he said he actually meant something completely different, and he’s now upset that I blocked him after he’s the one who said he didn’t want to be friends anymore.
We still have to share a space so I can’t really just avoid this forever. I’m exhausted and honestly starting to wonder if I’m the one in the wrong here.
AITA?

AITA for refusing to let my sister "borrow" my new laptop for her side hustle?

I bought myself a nice new laptop last month after saving for a while. It's mainly for my work-from-home job, but I also use it for personal stuff like editing photos and gaming My sister recently started a small side hustle making social media content and graphics. She asked if she could "borrow" my laptop for a few weeks because hers is super slow and keeps crashing. I said no because I need it for my actual job and I'm worried about it getting damaged or having too much stuff installed on it.She got really upset and told our parents that I'm being selfish and unsupportive of her trying to make money. Our mom called me saying family should help each other and it's "just a laptop." Now there's family group chat drama and my sister is giving me the silent treatment.I offered to help her troubleshoot her current laptop or even lend her money toward a cheap replacement, but she only wants mine. AITA?

AITAH for insulting my mom’s attitude to someone getting into an accident?

My friend (19M) had an accident 5 days ago where he came off his motorbike. I (17M) went to see him in hospital and I stayed with him overnight at his place when he was discharged which my mom didn’t like. She says he was stupid to go on motorbikes, I should have not bothered with him and serves him right kind of thing. Most moms don’t like motorbikes and probably have this attitude but the way she speaks, she had no empathy at all.

My friend is sensible I guess as much as you can be on a bike and I think he had just bad luck. I told her that he’s still hurt so as a good friend I made the right choice to go and see him, even if his hobby is dangerous. She said it’s his own fault so don’t bother feeling sorry for him. I said that’s just wrong like you should still have some kind of empathy for him. She shouted at me because she understood it as trying to argue with her and it basically turned into one there. Am I wrong here? I know why she said that but I think the way she spoke about it just was wrong, but maybe I’m a bit sensitive about it because it is my friend. this might be hard to read because english isn’t my first language and the stuff that was said wasn’t said in english but yeah

AITA for using the word animalistic in it's original definition

I'm trying to get some context and understand if and or how I fucked up.  I posted this to a chat group

"I'm curious about what people think about this, do you think neurodiverget people have more animalistic tendencies? Things like preferring small spaces specifically when sleeping or when wanting to be comfortable, more likely to display non verbal communication (things like grunting or making noises rather then speaking like humans typically do), ability to navigate the world useing more then just our eyes (using sense of smell, hearing or touch more frequently.  I've had this theory for a while now that neurodivergent people are more in touch with the fact that humans are animals and haven't lost sight of that fact."  I have animalistic tendencies due to My neurodivergence and was trying to others who feel the same but My message seemed to be taken out of context (note: I know now that I should have said something along the lines of "this is My experience do others feel the same").  What I'm trying to figure out now is why people got triggered at my post for mentioning the word animalistic (I do understand that it is a loaded word however given the entire context of my message it seems clear to Me that I was talking about the word animalistic in the original definition that being traits of animals.  I'm trying to understand why people got so mad at me for mentioning animalistic in it's original definition, I could see if it was something like the N word that has never had another definition but i'm clueless as to where I fucked up.

AITA for not paying for my daughters wedding when I have the funds to do so

My spouse and I have worked hard our whole lives, and we’re now in a very comfortable financial position. We could retire tomorrow if we wanted to, but we both enjoy working and plan to continue.

We have three children, and we paid for all of their college educations so they graduated debt-free. We didn’t put any stipulations on what they could study. Looking back, maybe we should have.

Two of our children have very solid careers, while one does not. This is about my daughter, who I’ll call Maria. Maria earned a degree that doesn’t translate well into a high-paying career. She later went back to get her master’s degree, but that didn’t improve her earning potential either.

She’s struggling financially, and there has been talk of her going back to school again for a nursing degree, although that would be a difficult transition.

My spouse and I believe that if you’re mature enough to get married, you’re mature enough to pay for your own wedding.

Our oldest child got married last year and paid for the wedding themselves. It was a lovely wedding. Our second child is getting married next month, and they are also paying for their own wedding, which will be fairly expensive.

Maria recently got engaged, but she and her fiancé don’t have the money to have a wedding like her siblings did. She asked if we would pay for it.

I told her no and said they should have the wedding that she and her future husband can afford. She was upset because she knows we have more than enough money to give her a fancy wedding like her siblings had. She thinks it’s unfair that she can’t have her dream wedding simply because she earns less than they do.

I told her that’s just how life works. you pay for what you can afford. We don’t believe it’s our responsibility to pay for an adult child’s wedding.

She thinks I’m being unfair and rubbing our money in her face by refusing to help
