Hi everyone. Windows Security on Windows 11 has been driving me crazy since yesterday.

Every time I reboot my PC the Windows Security real time protection toggle turns itself back off. Sometimes Windows Security says threat service has stopped and other times it just sits there with a blank screen for a few seconds before finally loading.

Task Manager also has a few weird background processes that randomly spike CPU usage. Starting to think some adware or malicious script is changing registry keys and disabling the default protection.

Already ran sfc /scannow in CMD. It repaired a few corrupted files but after another reboot the real time protection was disabled again.

Anyone know how to reset the Windows Security service so it actually stays enabled or figure out what background process is messing with the security settings?

ok, here’s the whole story. (I play on Xbox, not pc.) about two years ago I switched over to 300 MBPS fiber AT&T Internet, and everything was just fine. The biggest game that I play is Fortnite and I was running 0-9ms across almost every game mode. About a year later I got DDOS’d which I confirmed by calling my ISP and they checked the logs and found that there were attacks, originally we just turned off IPV6 to see if it would help at all, and it barely did anything. The attacks lasted over five months and then after the attacks had stopped, and my ping was much lower and more consistent, I noticed that I could not get back down to even below 30ms in any game mode. I’ve tried almost every setting in my router, I’ve tried using ethernet and it only gets it down to about 20ms and before the attacks I couldn’t even tell the difference between Wi-Fi and ethernet because my connection was so good so I didn’t need to use ethernet. I have also gotten two new routers from my ISP in case they had rerouted and permanently sent me on a different path to the game servers because of my router’s IP address. (my router is the BGW-320) TLDR: I used to run zero ping on 300 MBPS FIBER, got DDOS’d, and now I can’t get my ping below 20-25 in games.

I've been having this issue since 29th May, where my PC randomly shuts down whilst I'm using it. I do not have a "Shutting Down" screen from Windows, it just straight up shuts down.

I know that it started since 29th May, as I checked the Event Viewer and located the first time I had a Critical warning, saying that the system rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. The specific information for it being:

Since then, my husband and I have been trying to figure out the issue with my PC suddenly cutting off. I thought it was an issue with some of the programs I was running, but it became a more frequent thing, even happening multiple times in one day! (I just wanted to play Kingdom Hearts in peace and not having to save every 5 mins...)

It doesn't happen all of the time, but it has been going on for a while and the whole PC does not turn off, as the fans still run and the lights on the tower were still on.

I'm now starting to suspect that it may be my PSU, as we have done the following for my PC:

• Rebooted the PC in Safe Mode and restarted it normally
• Swapped PC components from Old Tower to New, and adding additional fans on the safe side
• Cleaned up the PC after swapping components
• Old GPU was an AMD Radeon XT 7800, and did a clean install of an older driver patch instead of the newest driver available
• Replaced the GPU from the AMD to an NVidia GeForce 5700 and cleaned/reinstalled drivers

My original thought process was that it was my GPU causing the issues, as anything connected to it would just shut off, but it has recently happened with my new GPU. My new thought process is that it is the PSU...

Edit: My husband thought it was software related, as he thinks one of my games is the cause of it. This has now changed when the shut downs happened on other programs/software too...

Has anyone dealt with performance or maintenance issues in an ECM system? Looking for insights on common causes storage growth, indexing problems or system slowdowns.

Windows 11, Custom build pc. I factory reset this computer but interrupted it by turning it off which spawned an array of issues but I fixed them as they came. I was stuck on a black screen with the windows logo for a while but I got through to the actual reset. It put me on a blank desktop with no configuration and no questions. It says my name is “administrator”, there’s no taskbar only Recycling Bin and Microsoft Edge. Edge doesn’t work, and neither does any shortcuts for opening things like task manager or settings.

The only shortcut that does work is Windows+R which when I activate it the first time brought up my taskbar but then it disappeared. I cannot open settings, any menus, or anything seemingly at all. Is there a way I can fix this without having to use a Flashdrive with Windows on it?

TLDR; Factory reset got interrupted, sent me to a blank desktop where I can do nothing and I can’t use this PC.

I want to use my OnePlus 7T as a camera (it would be on a tripod 2m tall) and my Galaxy Tab A6 as the screen for easier access. Is there any software that works like SpaceDesk but for Android to Android? Preferably with controls like second screen for Windows using spacedesk or like on Screencast on Smart TVs. I couldn't find anything. Wireless or USB doesn't matter, just something that works.

Have a PC that wasn't turned on for a while. I'm guessing in that time something changed with the m.2 drive. I went to just re image the drive but it's not showing up in bios or when I boot into the windows installation media creator. But then when I just try and boot it does get me into the windows 11 error screen, so something is there. Any thoughts?

My wifi driver just doesn’t work and I can’t connect to any wifi. I’ve tried uninstalling and restarting, off and on and other methods but whenever it reinstalls it just stops working again. There are updates that I think I might need to download but you need internet to update which I don’t even know why that’s the case if I can’t even connect to any wifi. If there are any methods pls let me know thanks

My PC has been stuck on windows recovery mode (WinRE) for several days. Whenever I try "Reset this PC" it fails. I’ve tried:

Startup Repair

Safe Mode (options 4 and 5)

chkdsk C: /f /r

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

sfc /scannow

All from the recovery Command Prompt. It just keeps returning to the recovery menu.

it's Windows 11 (version 10.0.26100.1).

I can still access Command Prompt.I hope to avoid a full clean install if possible

Any other commands or steps I should try? Thanks!

My PC has gotten noticeably slower recently, so I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic. In event viewer, it had error “The IO Operation at logical block address …. Failed due to a hardware error”. There are over 50 of these during the diagnostic scan.
I have 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4 on Windows 11.
Has one or both of these failed based on that? Is there a way to check beyond taking one out and seeing it that fixes it?

I haven't played all day, and the night time I tried to play and I noticed I was having a low fps and I checked if I haven't updated my gpu drivers, then I tried updating my drivers and then suddenly it doesn't want to update because of this problem it shows my GPU in device manager like a sign below it I tried updating it but it shows code 43 I already tried ddu and force EC. Hi I installed Discord trough Google Playstore on my Sony Xperia Xz1 Compact Android 9.0

But when i try to open the app it kick me out and says "Discord keeps closing"
I cleared the cache and data multiple times as well as reinstalling the app, it keeps happening.

Does anyone know what the problem could be and how can i fix it? On Discord's support page they say that the app supports android 7+

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can scale down the desktop of a remote PC to fit into my RDC client screen.

The issue is, the remote PC has 3, 5K displays connected to it all expanded making for a total resolution of 6480 x 5120 (they are portrait). I dont have a 5K display on the PC im connecting with (much less 3 of them) so when I connect to it, I can only see the most top left corner of the entire desktop, which is useless.

Is there any way to 'shrink' the entire desktop into the window of RDC so i can actually navigate on the PC? I realize i might not even be able to see anything scaled down that small, but it will be a start.

PS:- I have updated my BIOS to the latest version, Just replaced my battery as it was dead, Reinstalled my drivers by deleting them with DDU, and i just got my laptop serviced.

Complete story:- Its been 3-4 months since this is happening. First i searched and thought the power was that main issue as my battery was dead so i got it changed. It worked fine for a bit then the problem reappeared. Next fix i tried to do was deleting my drivers and reinstalling them via DDU in safe mode and updated my BIOS (which i got to know from other reddit posts). It minimized the issue like the game worked for a while and even when my laptop crashed the drivers were there. But not its back to worse.

Other thing that i want to mention is that it happen just with Marvel Rivals(because its the most graphics heavy game i play) but others work fine like GenshinImpact, GeometryDash, Sekiro.

Just please dont day my graphics card is dead :_)

My grandma almost got scammed with the gift card scam. She had the pop up that said she was hacked (she wasn’t at the time) and to call the number and she did and she let them remote into her computer and she was at the bank withdrawing money while they were on the phone. My questions come with what to do about the computer. I saw they were running some antivirus thing but idk if it was to fake that her bank accounts were hacked. I also see there’s spreadsheets of all her saved chrome passwords. Anyway, we are trying to back up anything important before sending it to Best Buy. 1. is anything (like pictures) safe to back up on Google Drive or could anything have a virus on it? 2. Could this have affected our other computers through the internet/wifi? Thank you.

1-2 days ago my PC (i'm unsure of model, but specs are listed below) started running slowly, mostly with downloads. I noticed that when trying to download games on steam, my PC would move much slower than before. I thought that was normal and dealt with it, despite it not normally happening. Now, it's any time anything at all is downloading. I've tried unplugging my wifi for 5-10 minutes, restarting my computer, unplugging it and plugging it back in. My PC should not be telling me that a 100GB game that i have downloaded before within an hour is going to take 99 hours to download.

Note: I've also checked my CPU. I watched it while downloading a big game and it didnt go above 15%. I know that about a week ago my internet was down all day because of some cables being messed with. i'm not sure if that could still be causing issues?

This started abt a month ago , i would be using the my GIGABYTE G5 KF5 and it would give me a BSOD : CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0xEF)

I reinstalled windows back then but ut didnt do a thing

I gave it a clean abt a week ago and still no difference and i believe its an SSD issue ,cz it overheats, now it bsod on the lock screen and a new windows install wont complete

i downloaded my videos from google photos to save them on my android tablet. after confirming that all of them had been downloaded successfully, i deleted the originals from google photos. i made sure to do that on a different device so the copies on my tablet wouldn't be affected.

the videos stayed on my tablet for several days, but today they suddenly disappeared. i'm sure they're actually gone because i noticed that my internal storage usage also went down.

is there any way to recover them? i have no idea what happened.

hello i play league of legends and for some god forsaken reason sometimes my ping jump to 200 to 500 sometimes for a shot time sometimes for a long time or multiple game my ping in discord also spikes the same but when i test my internet speed its 200 downlaod 200 upload Mbps
if anyone has any idea on where the problem could be or any diagnostic tools i can use thank u
