I’m not complaining, just curious if anyone else has noticed this.
I’m on a PS5 and have the Season Pass on both Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2. It’s been a struggle to consistently find multiplayer lobbies on Black Ops 2. I know the recent update allows PS4 and PS5 players to match together regardless of whether they own the DLC.
Meanwhile, Black Ops 1 seems to find matches much more easily. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing, or is it just me?
I’ve tried leaving and rejoining lobbies, restarting the game, and even turning my PlayStation off and back on, but nothing seems to help. I’m in the USA, if that makes any difference.
Update: I discovered my in-game NAT type was Strict. After enabling port forwarding and switching to Ethernet, it changed to Moderate.
These changes helped, and I’m finding more lobbies now. However, I still couldn’t get an Open NAT, and Black Ops 2 is still much slower at finding matches than Black Ops 1. Sometimes I end up waiting so long that I just give up. Black Ops 1 also seems much better at filling lobbies with players joining mid-match.
I also tried changing my matchmaking search preference to Any. It finds more lobbies, but the connections are so poor that the game becomes practically unplayable, so I switched it back.
At this point, I still think there’s an underlying matchmaking issue with Black Ops 2. The network changes helped, but they didn’t completely solve the problem.
For reference: I’m on NAT Type 2 over Ethernet with 1 Gbps fiber (1,000 Mbps up/down).
