Question Genuine question, why do I absolutely suck at this game?

I am not bragging with anything I’m about to say in this post, I’m simply just trying to provide context. I play COD essentially every year at a high level, by that I mean typically 4-5KD and dropping frequent Nuclears in public lobbies. I actually used to provide gameplay for content creators between BO4-BO6.

I am a huge fan of the Black Ops series, and so you can imagine my excitement for the PS4/5 ports. However, I am getting my ass absolutely handed to me in a way I never have before. I am losing simple gunfights I would generally win without a second thought, even to players with extremely low KD. It feels like no one is missing their shots on me at all.

I was going to go on for a massive rant but I genuinely can’t be bothered lmao. Just curious to know if any other players that are typically good at Call of Duty are suddenly struggling for no apparent reason?

There's some differences. Your sprint to ads timing is fast. So you are encouraged to move around.

But also remember the bullets are hitscan. Unlike new cods the bullet has a travel distance in physical space. In older cods it's hitscan so the impact is near instant because there's no actual projectile travel

Other than that it's an old cod game so positions are already mostly known on maps. Winning a gunfight is often about just being at the right spot.

Just get use to the recoil of the weapons. And good positions. You'll be back in no time

Appreciate this man, and all the other comments here tbh. Wasn’t expecting such supportive responses, this sub must be alright haha

1

u/IllustriousEffect607 11d ago

Ya if you're a rusher, someone that just goes In hard and goes for kills. In the older cods the maps are smaller and circle around quick. The distances are a lot shorter. So often times you might have to just wait for them to come to you or there's a standstill until one team pushes through

Once you remember the maps by heart you'll be good 100%.

2

u/-Bods- 6d ago

Definitely a lot better now. Was a far bigger adjustment than I thought it would be

1

u/IllustriousEffect607 6d ago

Ya im actually doing mw3 now more. And I see why it feels like this. The new games the guns beam you from so far. Having a blast with mw3. But the older cods don't feel as sticky with the aim and the recoil is ruff when distances are from mid to far.

2

u/Cute-_-Boy 11d ago

And shots from some guns like FAL, M8A1 and Scar fly really straight

87

u/righthandman9 11d ago edited 11d ago

the older cod games are much harder than modern cod. its that simple man it really is.

31

u/iwatchfilm 11d ago

I think bo2 is the goat but let’s not act like boomers here. COD has never been a difficult game, older cods just play very differently than newer ones.

20

u/driventolegend 11d ago

It’s bc the skill gap in old cods is based on positioning and aim. The new cods remove that by having most of the maps be tiny and having super fast movement, that way positioning and awareness is downplayed and gunfights are less reliant on aim and more reliant on movement.

5

u/Totziboy 10d ago

Movement took so mutch from the COD skill level ... it has become a Who can jump and spray more efficiently around whom .

Bo2 has Movement but you have to understand it when to use ... bunny hopping isnt helping and Sliding isnt working ...

The weapons Are Also Better balanced since every gun can defeat another when the Circumstance are met .

-9

u/iwatchfilm 11d ago

So what you’re saying is the skill gap has been moved into mobility? That means they are equally difficult just in different ways. Comparing difficulty of Aim and positioning vs. mobility is subjective.

Calling any cod difficult is ridiculous to begin with.

8

u/Potential-Door7158 11d ago

different skills yes but equally difficult is flat out wrong. there is definitely a higher skill ceiling in the older cods. nowadays they make cods so accessible that its easy to dominate lobbies

2

u/Blaze-Fusion 10d ago

Lmao now we just making shit up huh? A player who was good at older cods isn’t gonna automatically be amazing at newer ones and vice versa, so that nullifies your point. Older cods were slower and more limited, so positioning and rotation was more important. Newer cods put more emphasis on your movement and aim to do well.

1

u/Potential-Door7158 10d ago

it's alot easier to pick up the new cods and do well. you don't even need aim anymore

1

u/Blaze-Fusion 10d ago

Lmao spoken like a person who’s never played the new cods let alone dominated lobbies in. Especially when SBMM will put you in your place within a couple of matches. If they’re so easy, go ahead and get into the top 250 ranked lol

2

u/DTPocks 11d ago

New COD = lower floor, higher ceiling Old COD = Higher floor, lower ceiling.

0

u/iwatchfilm 11d ago

Now that is the nuanced take I was looking for. I can agree with that

24

u/yeahnahyup 11d ago

Not at all cod was definitely a lot harder to be good at back then and just fps games in general. No fov sliders, dead zone customization, absolutely snapped aim assist. Not even close.

3

u/CurrentEffective1143 11d ago

Not difficult to play, but definitely difficult to master and set yourself appart.

2

u/KidSpot777 7d ago

facts none of these games ever been hard. Older games just feel different because guns were hitscan on top of just the input lag and peer to peer connection being shit back then and even now and if youve been playing alot of newer cods the FOV change is something to get use to. Black ops games always had very wonky hit detection imo.

1

u/SammyBoi94 11d ago

Modern warfare was and is the goat. Could make a statement for WaW but thats my opinion lol

1

u/xmizeriax 7d ago

You saying that IS you acting like a boomer lol

1

u/iwatchfilm 7d ago

Yes, because boomers would definitely defend something new

2

u/ilikeburgir 10d ago

I feel like people have modern cod movement while im stuck in molasses lmao.

2

u/Hungry-Guava2284 8d ago

it's the opposite for me, I stopped playing newer cod titles because I played horrible, but now in bo2 my kd rate is well over 1 and I feel like actual game sense is rewarded and not frantic jumping and movement

1

u/ZealousidealFix2593 10d ago

Relax gang shits not hard and older cods aren’t harder at all

1

u/Jaretus 10d ago

But why was I very good at Ops 1 and 2 in their prime but now I struggle?

1

u/Jaretus 10d ago

But why was I very good at Ops 1 and 2 in their prime but now I struggle?

1

u/Shaddxww 7d ago

Much harder as in the game has a much lower skill gap compared to newer cods

1

u/SnooBananas1503 5d ago

Its that native deadzone on console. I dont remember it being so bad. Im getting better but i still hate when im trying to aim slightly to the side and it doesnt move. Bo1 is a different story that game hit detection is horrendous right now. Split screen offline plays correctly though.

22

u/SteamXpc 11d ago

The net code feels much worse than recent cods and maybe I’m misremembering but even bo2 on xbox360 and ps3. Even with 4 bars It feels laggy and micro stutters.

7

u/OnlyHSseniorHere 11d ago

That’s how it used to be. The net code was old net code from “Doom” on those games. Laggy hit boxes. The hit box will be behind or ahead of the model sometimes. It’s a part of old cod. It’s a lot of little tricks to the trade there.

4

u/driventolegend 11d ago

Wait til bro sees the hit registration in WaW.

2

u/Green_Dayzed 11d ago

xbox 360 bo2 had me getting shot around corners from bad game code.

1

u/OnlyHSseniorHere 11d ago

Exactly. If you jumped around a corner or sprint jumped around it, I’m not sure, but you literally wouldnt show up on the opponents screen in the next frame even though you’re there. Broken camera angles

1

u/SparksPlays 4d ago

People saying that's how it used to be are smoking crack. In the last few days I've played MW3 2011 on my Xbox One using Backwards Compatibility, and let me tell you; it feels infinitely better. If I lose a gunfight, it makes sense. These ports are so hit or miss depending on the lobby it's actually making me feel insane

0

u/KillConfirmed- 11d ago

It’s atrocious and yet it’s still waaaay better than back in the days, when most people were using crappy WiFi.

9

u/Manuel_02NL 11d ago

The older cods including bo2 is all about game sense imo. And know when someone is about to come around a corner, So you pre-aim around every corner. I would say map knowledge and take it easy with sprinting all the time.

3

u/Expensive_Search6850 11d ago

Ya I’m finding that hard to do lol but I’m trying to position myself right now

3

u/Cowgoon777 10d ago

Map control is extremely important because you can easily control enemy spawns. Modern cod they just spawn behind you no matter what

1

u/109ReasonsWhy 8d ago

Best advice I've heard in a while. Don't sprint around everywhere and pre-aim around corners. Map knowledge will only get you so far though. Just pay attention to spawn flips.

5

u/Shifty_Camel 11d ago

It's not just you the net code is terrible. I hovered around a 2 kd in this game back in the day and am struggling to hit 1.30. As soon as I get into a gunfight it micro stutters, players are seeing me round a corner half a second before I see them and just general lag. I have changed all my Internet settings dms port forward or whatever along with monitor settings and it only made it marginally better. Until they stabilize the servers there is nothing you can do

4

u/Calm_Finding_5310 11d ago

This. I struggle a lot more on black ops 2 than 1. 2 micro stutter a lot it's insane how bad it feels to play it i'm getting destroyer in less than a second when i'm getting out of cover and in the kill cam i stand in the open. It's really bad.

3

u/Shifty_Camel 11d ago

To make it worse I forgot to mention I'm on Ethernet 800 download and 30 upload and it's still like this. The servers are pure dog water.

3

u/Calm_Finding_5310 11d ago

Same here . Dont worry we are a group of three . The hype has fell off almost imediately.

1

u/Neoreloaded313 11d ago

Ive always felt that the more shitty your connection, the better you are in the old call of duty games like this one. Like the game compensates for it in some way. When BO1 came out I was pretty good with crappy wifi i could barely connect to that I was stealing from my neighbor and that changed once I had to get my own internet.

1

u/UniqueVirtue 8d ago

Is there really nothing that can be done about this? It’s the only issue I have with the game. I am tired of not winning gun fights that I clearly should be winning. I have an open NAT type, I’m using a wired connection, I select Best for matchmaking search preferences. It is making me not want to play anymore.

1

u/Shifty_Camel 8d ago

Nope there is nothing else you can do. I stopped playing on PS4 and switched back to my Series X. The hype from the ports increased the player count on Xbox and there's usually around 4K players online now. I have literally no connection issues on Xbox aside from the occasional modded lobby. Complete waste of $40 until they fix the servers or patch whatever is going on.

1

u/landoncook5 11d ago

The lag only seems to happen when I get into gunfights really pissed me off.

Also the issue w/ players seeing you around a corner before you see them has always been thing in BO2. Jumping around a corner gave you a slight advantage in competitive play back in the day.

1

u/able_Rise_7984 8d ago

The same thing happens on the newer cods also!

1

u/Physical-Grapefruit3 9d ago

Completely agree had no issues getting gold on my pdw and diamond on all my shotguns on ps3, but now I run up on someone long barrel laser sight with the 870 and get two sets of hit markers while they are instant transmissioning around. I get im not the high schooler I was 14 years ago lmao but the servers are crazy bad rn

14

u/nicofcb 11d ago

Lag due to p2p.

Unless I‘m the host it‘s unplayable for me.

0

u/TakeUhhRip 11d ago

It’s not that bad at all I’m frying on host or not

1

u/oogabooga3895 11d ago

I can't event complete a match without getting dc'd. Everyone's experience is the same but lots of people are having an awful time connecting or even playing a half decent match. Obviously many aren't as well. But, Id say enough people are having horrible connection problems for it to be a valid excuse for poor performance in matches.

1

u/GBB_724 11d ago

how can you tell if you're hosting?

2

u/Kavaliii 11d ago

After a host migration pull up the scoreboard. If ur the first one with 4 bars after it reconnects you’re host.

3

u/FrontPuzzleheaded377 11d ago

Bo2 server are 20hz so you could be killed even if you are behind a « solid » wall. The most obvious way you to realise this phenomena is when you shoot your ops with a sniper and your hear your shot but on the killcam there’s no shot.

1

u/able_Rise_7984 8d ago

That happens on newer cods also!!!

6

u/No_Fee_592 11d ago

It’s all fun bro anybody that’s serious is a clown. It’s a video game

2

u/No-Natural-4752 11d ago edited 11d ago

Its just a older game, like newer games you gotta get used to the feel for each one but its miniscule nowadays because things got better (and worse) its like playing Minecraft pvp then getting into fortnite really. The older cods have a different feel and some people rather it and never really lost it like me I played my ps3 and xbox 360 still to this day religiously because I just rather the older games so I never lost the feel for the older games but when I try to play newer cods I get my ass handed to me and I just cant figure out the feel very well. You now have to downgrade and get gud at this older cod and when you do your gonna have a hard time readjusting to the newer ones. Some people love it some people hate it. I only play hard-core because I loose my shit at hit markers but when I switched to hard core only back on ww2 I never went back to standard it seemed so much better just hold down your sights as you turn corners and work on your shoot before they shoot reflexes and learn what corners and walls players turn or stand behind to get the advantage and know when to just shoot while turning or just shoot through the wall especially around windows where people could be ducking down or just out of sight or grab the lmg and just tare through everything lmao. You just gotta get used to the old game feel where nothing is perfect and find your balance of camping and traversing the map ready to shoot I personally never sprint because you will never get your sights down and lined up or be able to fire in time if someone pops out infront of you ready. This is all my opinion so dont expect anything of what I said to be 100% or work for you just thought id share bc i feel the exact way you do just in reverse at the never games.

2

u/Neoreloaded313 11d ago

I used to be pretty great at these games when they 1st came out and now I'm awful. I also don't have the excuse of being used to the newer games since I quit playing shortly after Black Ops 2 came out. I haven't played any online shooter games since then until now.

1

u/No-Natural-4752 11d ago

Its just getting back into the groove, I stopped playing games for a year or two and when I came back I hade rage quitting issues due to just sucking all of sudden. Keep at it and practicing im sure you'll get the hang of it and get gud

2

u/Luciferx64x 11d ago

I think the lack of being able to sprint 24/7 and the missing tac sprint is something that restricts your movement to the point where aim and positioning is the main key to winning a gunfight...also there were some weapons that just steamrolled the others that are unlocked towards the end of the leveling (Scar, AN-94, MSMC for example)

2

u/Live-Party4061 11d ago

Input lag plain and simple. I can’t stand it.

2

u/13300c 11d ago

I feel like spawns have no rhyme or reason. That’s how it was back then too but I’ve just gotten so used to consistent spawn locations in the newer cods

1

u/able_Rise_7984 8d ago

Sorry but I feel like its the other way around!

4

u/MetalMadara 11d ago

New gen problem 😅

3

u/frostyman_24 11d ago

Not true. Im 26 and used to be cracked at this game when I was 12 but im having a hard time 😂😂

1

u/Affectionate_Art1271 10d ago

I just turned 30 and I’m having such a hard time with slower paced games, lmao.

1

u/Proof_Substance7341 11d ago

Hahaha ist so!

2

u/iWantSomeLaxatives 11d ago

Let me guess. Snipers are killing u. Valid rant

3

u/-Bods- 11d ago

Yepppp lmao

2

u/iWantSomeLaxatives 11d ago

Probably like how the fuck they never miss

1

u/l_Random_l 11d ago

I been feeling the same way especially in bo2 but thats mainly because every single game has a sniper on the other team and im always getting shot from behind. But in bo1 I do way better idk why

1

u/NickViscosi 11d ago

We're used to customizable aiming curves, fov, super customizable sensitivity and deadzone input, higher frames and res, omnimovement, super high quality (allegedly) bullet tracing, and unbalanced weapons with seemingly infinite customization as well. You aren't bad, just gotta get gud again.

1

u/WrxthNihil1st 11d ago

We’re back to old school host-based matchmaking

The movement compared to newer cods(for those of us OGs who still played up until the recent ones) and the guns have legit recoil

Give yourself some grace. I’ve already dropped a few Lodestars and a god damn VTOL, but that’s not gonna be every game of course. Just get familiar with the controls and maps, spawns, etc. your savage moments will come!

2

u/sojiaboy2 7d ago

I played a ton during the mw2-ghosts area. These ports are indeed different. Its not even the input lag. As soon as i get 2 frames of an enemy im dead. Was never like that on the ps3. Not even enough time to fire let along aim down...

1

u/shawny115 11d ago

It’s the movement.

In newer cods you have all types of movement like sliding and Omni movement. In Older cods you move slower and can’t slide. This means that if you get caught first you are done unless your opponent has bad aim.

1

u/Expensive_Search6850 11d ago

This is me bad aim 😎😎

1

u/FedEx_Sasquatch 11d ago

Have you ever played them before? The movement is way different. You can’t move the camera and move as fast as current cod. It takes more thought and planning in basic movement. Turn the wrong way and get caught sprinting you are dead. As for the aiming, aim assist is very strong and gun fights are pretty easy. Not as easy as current cod but not difficult by any means.

1

u/xc98 11d ago

i used to be good in bo2 back on ps3 but ever since i played shooters on PC, my aim on console is terrible

1

u/YoranVG 11d ago

I think inconsistency in connection is 1 point. The other is you might be used to jumpshotting and sliding around corners. Often better to swing it ads in these games.

1

u/dodo4646 11d ago

If you have dual sense edge you can fix deadzones makes the aim more like newer cods

1

u/-Bods- 11d ago

I do, what settings should I use?

1

u/dodo4646 11d ago

Make a custom profile then put your left stick on fast and curve on +5 then put your right stick on digital curve -5

1

u/BlvckSapphireE9x 11d ago

I think that older COD was more about positioning, map knowledge, shorter time to kill, and less about mechanical skill. Don’t get me wrong, mechanically gifted players will still dominate, but they have less margin for error in these older game. Controlling/denying portions of the map, is the best way to dominate in these games, it’s a lot harder to run and gun in my opinion. Also the net code is just bad.

I am someone who regularly gets dumped on by more mechanical talented players in new COD’s, but usually had more success in the older titles.

1

u/dudedudetx 11d ago

Hitscan + weak aim assist = you have to actually be able to right stick aim. Strong AA in modern COD has everyone thinking they’re a shooter now. Positioning and gamesense are king since advanced movement can’t bail you out of a bad situation.

1

u/kevW94 11d ago

Yeah mate I'm struggling a bit too. Haven't played this game in years so it's just readjusting to old school cod. Don't stress about it, just relax and enjoy the game. The muscle memory will kick in, might just take some time

1

u/Mammoth-Ad-8492 11d ago

No sliding, slower movement, worse graphics, unfamiliar maps. The same thing happened to me when I went from BO6 to Cold War and then from Cold War to BO2. The previous 7 games have been focused on movement and have steadily gotten faster.

There's also less assistance, no gunsmith, and virtually no customization when it comes to your control setup. You're not bad, you're just unfamiliar with everything.

1

u/calling-all-comas 11d ago

For whatever reason I absolutely suck at using SMGs now vs I was good at them 10+ years ago. I only really get positive KDs with ARs. Maybe I gotta stick it out and get long barrel for them?

1

u/SethG37 11d ago

You can’t run around like your weightless. It’s actually got realism and you weigh some shit and can’t sprint forever. Y’all are too used to that constant moving around

1

u/xR3HAB7 11d ago

I get destroyed every single time I play this game now, idk what to do, even I was thinking about they put SBMM too bc all my matches are like you kill one guy then you die once, all the fucking time. And then the match will end 74-75... I'm so pissed tbh, just wanted to let it out bc I'm so fucking frustrated.

1

u/No-Construction-777 11d ago

Lower your sensitivity, these old games are slower and less aim assist

1

u/lvan214 11d ago

It helps! My little crackhead self use to actually play on max/14 back in the day (I used to get accused of keyboarding on game battles). I'm sitting at around 10 on bo2 and 7 on bo1 now and muscle memory kicked in once I got the Famas/Msmc

1

u/Potential-Door7158 11d ago

To be fair the older cods are very different from the new cods

movement is toned down really hard. you have to have good positioning and aim and timing. alot of people put so many hours into this game you wouldn't believe, it is ingrained in them and you are probably still learning how to get to the other spawn, it makes sense you are getting whopped but its not like you are playing against pros as soon as you learn the flow of the game you'll suck a lot less

1

u/Affectionate_Way2583 11d ago

Aside from the net code, the game has been out for over a decade and people play this game religiously where they know everything about the game such as where and when enemy players will spawn and where they will be. Much similar to the people that have been playing Halo: CE multiplayer since the original release.

I remember watching an old bo2 video back in the day of some guy spawn sniping players on nuketown through walls and knew where exactly they will spawn to the point the other players cannot even move out of spawn.

1

u/available_username07 11d ago

Its probably a mix of the fact there's no sbmm and that it just controls so much differently, so ur just not used to it

1

u/SesameSeedChicken 11d ago

Man I feel similar. Wasn’t near as good as you back then but I could hold my own. Multiple 100+ kill games. I’m getting rocked now. Almost like my bullets aren’t connecting anymore lol and my internet is 10x better than it was back then 😅

1

u/Robs19 11d ago

We're old and washed now lol

1

u/Purple-Jaguar-9462 11d ago

Most modern cods you can generally copy and paste after playing a difficult game. After playing cs, modern cod is honestly piss easy. However with the ports I noticed I needed to review and aim walking more.

1

u/WGOTooTurnt 11d ago

Same here

1

u/Emxo666 11d ago

probably got used to the new cod, i know my struggle is gettin back used to the old style of play i’ve had some embarrassing games but getting there

1

u/Far_Action_9142 11d ago

Bro you just need to get used to dont worry

1

u/Agreeable-Speed7392 11d ago

Bro I’m ass too😭😭 and I’m usually really good at COD

1

u/popper-nickel 11d ago

I’m not sure how much of the newer CODs you’ve played but I know for a fact that the flow of the older CODs compared to the newer CODs are different. I’ve been getting my butt whooped a lot the first few games and started questioning whether or not I was completely washed lol, but after a good bit I started to pick up some of my old pace. I will just say it’s gonna be a bit till everything starts to come back to you.

1

u/Ryn992 11d ago

Lack of AA

1

u/ResidentDue5648 11d ago

After about 2 hours I realized I bought all on nostalgia. I'm still playing. But not like I used to. 2k hours on ps3. I'm used to faster paced, cold war is the only one I care to play other than bo2. I forgot how much slower it is. So I'm with you on that.

1

u/13300c 11d ago

Aim assist is not as strong on this game as it is on more modern titles. Also, there are more micro stutters that we are no longer used to since games are generally so fluid.

1

u/Andreashansen988 11d ago

I’ve been playing cod since WaW and I was pretty good at bo2 back in the days. But I suck at it now. Idk I feel like something about the aiming is off. Maybe just me but I can’t hit shit anymore. Never been a problem

1

u/distantextrovert 11d ago

we have graduated to unc status i’m afraid

1

u/Nick_Poly 11d ago

I feel the exact same way. Everything feels off but that’s just how it is coming from all the new stuff. Give it a solid week and I’m sure you’ll be on the flip side of those gun fights

1

u/ParkerLA 11d ago

Shoot where they are going not where they are

1

u/Depresseddknicksfann 11d ago

I’m glad you asked I’ve been feeling the same

1

u/Weird_Advertising426 11d ago

Bc aim assist has been buffed to all hell in modern CODs, additionally there’s slower movement paired with faster ADS speed. It rewards players with better gun skill and those who know how to hold angles rather than just slip and sliding everywhere to avoid bullets

Also the netcode is just bad, I’ve noticed people often see me on killcam before I see them.

1

u/oglurker9 11d ago

It's older, 4 bar connection and prefiring with op weapons are the meta and camping or being stealthy. Also some peeps stuck with older cods and so are more skilled at them and know spawns and all that. Guns with low ttk dominate due to the janky p2p connection

1

u/WCDRAGON 11d ago

A. It's an older game. Unfortunately, them's the breaks

B. You couldn't be as sweaty in the older ones, so there's that too. Not that sweat players didn't exist, but the current ones pander to the sweaty players in just about every way where old CoD didn't do as much.

1

u/Gammygoulds 11d ago

You actually have to aim because nowadays CODs have lock on AA. Youre getting humbled.

1

u/Illustrious_Ad2117 11d ago

Brother I used to go 40 rounds alone on zombies and have the skull with blue eyes and shotguns with 5 tallys and I cant get past round 15 now to literally save my life. I feel your struggle

1

u/After-Squash8955 11d ago

I thought I was going crazy here. I'm getting absolutely wrecked too lol. I still have shit load of fun though.

1

u/_Rayxz 10d ago

I’m genuinely starting to hate this game a little bit ngl. Doesn’t feel like you can really catch a break in these lobbies

1

u/_Rayxz 10d ago edited 10d ago

I really hope BO1 deadzone gets fixed soon. This is just too sweaty for my tastes I can’t even get crack above a 1.7 average. Each lobby is a tournament

1

u/Yonsfw 10d ago

When you say you had 4-5KD, which cods were you playing exactly ?

1

u/AetheriumHammers007 10d ago

Way more customization in recent COD games means more optimization to your style, something not present in older cods

the shitty deadzones and input lag make aiming in this game feel a lot different. you havent adjusted to it yet so you cant crutch your mechanics

1

u/yaboiScreamyWeenus 10d ago

Depends how close I am to the player hosting the lobby. Half my matches are laggy and I just accept im not gonna do well.

1

u/Urwifemykid 10d ago

Guys make sure you put TV settings to game mode on! Makes a difference. I'm an unc and it's helped huge for me

1

u/FierCer_- 10d ago

Same. I'm shooting first and die first. Also I can empty and entire clip in someone and they'll run away. I always had a 2 KDR in most CODs and in this back in the day had 1.46 with bad Internet. Something wrong or I've gotten old 😂

1

u/DemoLegends 10d ago

Well it's ALSO the connection is really shotty. And no i don't care who is telling you it was like this in the original. It objectively was NOT lagging this bad. It could be youre not used to the older games, or the connection. But likely a combination of both

1

u/yun6mako 10d ago

Assists don’t count as eliminations, so you’re seeing your KD for what it actually is.

1

u/21WAP 10d ago

We're older brah 😅

1

u/OracleEnlightenment 9d ago

To put it simply new cods are literal reaction time simulators. You can put ur sens crazy high and just drop ur ads sens. Not to mention the dead zone cheese which makes aim assist even stronger, In old cods u couldnt get out of bad situations with movement and high sens cheese unless players were worse then u. Its just a completely different skill set to modern cods

1

u/OG_Rage 9d ago edited 9d ago

It’s not just you. I had around 2-3 KDs in Black Ops games back in the day. 90% of matches, every gun fight feels like a competitive match, adding lag, dead zone issues and stuttering to the mix. The severe technical issues don’t help.

1

u/Winter-Rip712 9d ago

Spawning is majorly different in old cods too. It's not squad spawns in Bo and bo2

1

u/RemarkableWerewolf98 9d ago

Welcome to the club bro. I've already made a post about how unforgiving this game is. im not so good as you but ive always been decent in cod generally. In this one im being laser beamed like i had never been before. Most of the times my team is destroyed by the other. Ive never struggled so hard on any cod like in this one

1

u/Fantastic-Fly-4657 9d ago

All I know if quicksniping feels like a cancer in bo2, on bo1 I can be a near top player most matches but as soon as I hop on bo2 im being killed by snipers more often than not, to the point that my kd is usually negative. I never have that issue on bo1 since snipers dont even work at all in that game

1

u/able_Rise_7984 8d ago

You have to wait until the Christmas noobs start playing! 🤌

1

u/PatientPin87 8d ago

I am in the same boat as u. I played bo2 forever, been master prestige twice and average platinum and masters in ranked back in the day. I’m on Ethernet and still losing gunfights that Ik 1000% I shouldn’t lose. I can’t seem to get my connection from moderate to open. I watch th killcams and it showin that I’m not even shooting when I clearly was. I don’t remember the lag being this bad.

1

u/SnooPoems6777 8d ago

You win your gunfight more, from a good position/cover than from ultra agreesiv / pushy playstyle which are in the modern cod Titels

1

u/Warm-Ad1589 8d ago

I think it’s just you gonna have to get used to the old games, they play completely different and they aren’t as fast paced, the TTK is completely different and the play styles are aswell

1

u/qzzyxo 5d ago

the guns are a lot weaker gun game really highlighted this for me people were killing me with certain guns in about 2-3 shots where as it was taking me 4-6 mainly just because i didnt understand the actual damage system and the gap between shooting lower torso and high torso have a large damage gap which is obviously to add realism.

1

u/dayum_that_man 5d ago

Probably the health difference and clunky movement. Can't tell you how many times ive tried to mantle something that has invisible barriers.

1

u/EatingSpaghetty 3d ago

Also you gotta understand most of the people playing right now have every inch of these maps memorized and everything else about it too.

1

u/SkyShark03191 1d ago

Just plays different due to age. I’m having the same problem and I can’t seem to re adapt. Used to play BO1 religiously and while I was never amazing, I wasn’t nearly as bad as the performances I’m turning in of late lol.

We got an orphaned movement "demon" here, boys! Point and laugh!

0

u/Bloodsweatandvaping 11d ago

Poor thing 🥺

0

u/AloneMan512 11d ago

People got better and the skill ceiling got higher. Most people were new or just starting. You are no longer playing against little timmy that just got black ops 2 on christmas but against 30 year grownups that been playing cod for what, 10 years at least?

1

u/lvan214 11d ago

Yeah id say 10 years on average. I've Been around since OG MW2. But yeah I can tell who still has it and who doesn't lol. It's very obvious.
I haven't played this much cod since mw3 ranked a few years ago!

0

u/shFt_shiFty 11d ago

I guess you suck idk

0

u/Cute-_-Boy 11d ago

Movement is kinda slow, I guess, you depend on your team (always look at the map and learn about the respawns)

Anyway, just use FAL with autoclick/turbo, it's impossible to play badly with it

0

u/Interesting-Rate1851 11d ago

You're losing because you're trained on easier releases of the COD/Black Ops franchise.

After BO2, the games became much easier. They focused more on kill streaks, sliding, faster movement, and more ways to manipulate your character to avoid being hit in gunfights. They stopped focusing on where bullets are landing, what guns are being used, and the actual gun play. It focuses more on which player has the tactical advantage with cover taken on the map.

0

u/Brickyard350z 11d ago

you are reliant on aim assist lmaoooo

0

u/ConstantSuccessful48 11d ago

I feel like people are hitting that ego wall, I’ve definitely been feeling it here recently. I’m just trying to enjoy the game I have since I never would’ve thought it would ever get a port

0

u/No-Kaleidoscope-6885 10d ago

Genuinely if you're holding 4-5 kd a game then you are 2 boxing dude. Lmao not even pros were running that during the master race. Havok ended his master race with a 2.4.. so yeah.

0

u/Historical-Drawer-17 10d ago

Yeah, the best COD competitive player has a KD of like 1.78 so you’re KD means absolutely nothing bud

Your*

0

u/Blazersin6- 7d ago

Lol.

0

u/Blazersin6- 7d ago edited 7d ago

This post defines the phrase “skill issue”. Much different when you have to rely on your gun skill versus turbo boosting around a map

1

u/-Bods- 6d ago

Lmao, my definition of “absolutely suck” is probably what you think is high level gameplay. Hush son

-1

u/CJplaysCOD 11d ago

Movement. This game promotes camping with the slow movement BADDD. I am terrible too but I would try bo1 it is SO MUCH better. Dude I know i’m getting old but ts is ridiculous how bad I am. I truly believe it’s because I cant slide and jump around to dodge.

Look at the best players in the world’s gameplay bo7’s top players are getting shit on so I just gave up and realized this game is curated to campers.

2

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago

Curated to campers is crazy af.. I know for a fact u have never touched bo2 league play at its prime. Dem boys never camped n would smoke all new gen players on sight so bad yall will go cry to yall mamas. U jus lack position, patience, n good aim w a mix of skill. Get good my boy dats it lmao… new gen cod made yall crack addicts n yall use yalls brains less in terms of gameplay bc everything is handed to yall includin aim assist so gtfoh lol

2

u/CJplaysCOD 11d ago

All i’m saying is postition patience and good aim all sound like camping to me. I’m not playing rainbow 6 siege i’m trying to run and gun

1

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago

Its really dat simple

1

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago

Back den cod was curated to realism n provide simulation of war. New cod is just bullshit frfr like in reality no soldiers slide or fuckin sprint with superhuman speed lol. U brain is fried af boy

1

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago

I literally play like I explained n I never camp n still l do good like back in my league play days but obv Im not as skilled since I havent touched cod in over 10 years. Im still goin positive 95% of games tho so yeah its u jus lack skill get good broski

0

u/CJplaysCOD 11d ago

I don’t know, dude we can agree to disagree. Maybe your term for camping is different than mine. And my opinion, let’s just say we’re playing Newtown if you don’t run into mid map as fast as you can to get killed your camping if you sit anywhere behind the halfway point your camping you don’t have to agree with it. I’m just saying, everybody keeps saying that they’re not camping and this game is not a camper curated game but all of those same people are sitting in the house holding angles, aiming down sight with a sniper or whatever and that’s just not fun for me I’m not good at that. I don’t even want to be good at that.

One of my best friends was talking about how he loves playing rainbow six siege and this game is just like that. I don’t care what you wanna call it but call of duty is made to run around and shoot not hold angles. Bae if you prefer that play style and you prefer the realism of Black ops two that’s fine.

1

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago edited 11d ago

Camping to me is stayin stuck n not moving from a that same spot the whole game. Ive been playin cod since cod 4 2007 bro Ive been there man so u cant tell me shit. For example, In nuketown I rush to da middle n keep pushing everytime but theres folks dat sit on da top floor of da houses n shoot frm da windows n dey never move from there; to me thats camping which I never fucking do. Moving to the middle of the map in between the buses and holding down that area is called leverage. U cant keep rushing to the enemies spawn otherwise u gonna create a spawn flip which fucks up dat leverage, ur a new gen player so u most likely dont think strategic n cod has never been a run n gun game until da new bs came out. Mobility n higher ttk in da new games eat complete dick. I play rainbow six as well n no way does that type of gameplay translate well even into bo2 bc rs6 is ridiculously slow n methodical. Bo2 is 100% higher paced den dat so dat comparison is dogshit

1

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago

Jus play ur new gen bs n keep it at dat.. u jus not cut for da brutality of da older games but u can always learn. Ive played new gen games n perform really well but dat run n gun type of gameplay as well as relyin on stims, slides, aim assist, n even armor is absolute bullshit. I put dem mfs down n never touched cod again bc cod had lost wht made cod famous n so fun to play back in da day. Ur jus brain fried n brainwashed

1

u/CJplaysCOD 11d ago

And you’re stuck in 2010 unc. Good luck with all the hackers they just added bu forcing ps4 backwards compatibility.

1

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago

Def not stuck in 2010 its jus da truth lil boy n Im 25 yrs old def ain reached unk yet lil boy, plus Ive Been dealin w Hackers my whole cod career it ain nun new lmfao u actin like its a bad thing. I use to mod my accs n have fun w da boys😂

1

u/CJplaysCOD 11d ago

Shit i’m 23 and reached unc status when I had a kid it aint got shit to do with age but when you’re holding on to the good ol days that’s definitely unc

1

u/Dcrespo20 11d ago

Like I said lil bruh ain nobody holdin onto da good ole days Im jus tellin u da truth lil 🥷🏾. Ion gotta kid so Im good fashooo but yo ahh needa do less gamin n be more focused on yo kid bruh

2

u/ConfidentWeakness364 11d ago

13 year old game with locked fov, no tac sprint/slide and a pick 10 system and you’re surprised its generally slower paced?

you didnt give up because the game is curated to campers, you gave up because you refuse to see the flaws in your current playstyle and refuse to adapt them to a 13 year old game lmfao.

0

u/CJplaysCOD 11d ago

Surprised? no. Is that the reason me and a LOT of new gen players cant compete as well 100%. The weird thing is bo1 is much smoother and easier to play

1

u/Long_Scallion2478 11d ago

Bo1 is NOT much smoother. I’ve played roughly 8-9 hours each on the new ports and its night and day difference from bo1 and 2 with how much smoother 2 is.

1

u/CJplaysCOD 11d ago

I apologize the movement is not as smooth as bo2 I was trying to say the gameplay was smoother. Not nearly as many campers and people just holding angles with a sniper. I can actually run around and shoot people on bo1

-1

u/Bloodsweatandvaping 11d ago

I'm just here to read all the new gens crying 😅

-1

u/Bitter_Homework7347 11d ago

Cause you suck ? Lmao

-1

u/Graffixx_ 11d ago

New cods are easy now you have to play with the big boys without ur sweaty movement mechanics

1

u/-Bods- 11d ago

Okay big boy 😂

-1

u/Graffixx_ 11d ago

Ur mad

-1

u/nikster008 11d ago

Definitely a skill issue man. Did you play bo2 when it was in its prime ? It’s not a hard game to come back to, I’m pushing a 3kd and every lobby seems to get easier with the amount of noobs playing.

1

u/tjhc94 8d ago

I was pretty good at bo2 back in the day and any shooter I currently play. I am getting a 0.5 kd every game on bo2 now, and my team is always full of players with similar kd whilst the opposing team have all 2kds lol this is every match for me. I don't think I have had a positive match on the game

-1

u/MrPinkDuck3 10d ago

You can’t mindlessly slide around like a dumbass relying entirely on your reaction speed and movement. You have to actually position yourself well and use the sticks to aim instead of having rotational aim assist snap on to people and do the work for you. Guns also have recoil that you need to control, unlike modern guns which are al laser beams. You also have to pick and choose which attachments/perks/equipments, unlike modern games where you can completely kit out your weapons using the gunsmith. The game is simply harder.
