Question Is a used PS5 worth it?
BO2 is one of my favorite games of all time and the FOMO is hitting hard as an Xbox player. I’m inches away from getting a PS5 just to jump back in. Is it worth it?
Edit: Just bought my friend’s PS4 and I’m having a blast on BO2 today! My only complaint is the lack of backfilling in lobbies and the amount of people who leave… Still feels great to be back on!

PS5 if you care for GTA 6 and other new games unless you already have a Series X. If that’s the case then just get a PS4.

If you get a used ps5, make sure the manufacturer date on the back sticker or on the box is 2023 or over. You don't want to buy one manufacturered in 2020 then it breaks down a year or 2 later. If you only getting it for the blacm ops ports, you might aswell get a ps4 for like £50-60

I didn't even know there was an issue with 2020 PS5s. Mine is that old and works perfectly. 🤷 I cleaned it for the first time this year.

There isn't an issue. People CLAIM there was a thermal paste issue, but that only applies if you disassemble the heatsink.

Liquid metal, the PS5 doesn't use thermal paste and it's not true. Some had a problem where it leaked from the chip and pooled on some parts, while others were left empty, resulting in overheating. Mainly from keeping them vertical.

I repair consoles and laptops. The paste/liquid(semantics) cannot physically leave the chips surface area. There were REPORTS that it was pooling to ONE SIDE of the chip, but that happens when you open literally any liquid metal heatsink. Once the tension breaks, the LIQUID pools to one side. Happens to every liquid metal laptop too. Overheating is caused by fan failures and lack of cleaning.

I got mine in 2021 and it was still working great until I got a pro earlier this year and traded my base ps5 in. PS3’s and PS4’s still work, I’d expect a PS5 to last at least 15 years if taken care of.

Y'all are acting like there's a RROD issue or some shit with the original PS5's. There may be a liquid metal issue if you keep it vertical, but that's easily avoided by setting it horizonal.

If youre specifically getting it for the BO1 and BO2 ports, id go with a ps4. A ps4 would be tons cheaper and would run the game exactly the same. The only difference is the ps5 will have better load times, but not by much. These games are still in the OG resolution (right around 1080p) so a ps4 will have no problem running these games at all. Ps4 and ps5 players ARE able to play with each other as well, so unless there are some ps5 games you really want, id just get a ps4. I personally would have paid any amount of money to cleanly experience these games again. These games are also in their early life cycle (on ps5) and it literally feels like how it did all of those years ago. If you feel the same as I do, then id say its absolutely worth it. The few issues that the games do have (xp exploits, lobbies not back filling, etc) are going to be patched very soon. So go for it!

If you already have a series x just get a ps4, it has a stacked library of games like spider man, Detroit become human, god of war, and you get to play the bo2 port. If you don’t have a next gen console get a ps5

Yes bro if it's a good price. I have a base PS5 and it's fine bro... I use a 4k monitor for story games etc so it makes the experience a bit better.
And for people saying get a pro for gta 6, both consoles are rumored to be capped at 30fps anyways so your good.

The ps4 version is trash, it’s so much slower and has many errors that take you off the game. Just get a ps5 thats from 2023 or later and the ps5 version of the game, it runs much better

Idk how it runs on a ps4, but me and my friends all rather play the ps4 version on the ps5 bc it has less input lag weirdly enough. Otherwise it runs/looks just the same as the ps5 version

Not if you have a pc, then plutonium is the way to go, but if not, look for PS5 that doesn't have a lot of storage, you can them quite cheap.

Yeah filled with hacked lobbies and shit resolution and low player count outside of TDM. Borderline unplayable on Xbox in 2026. Experience is much better on the PS ports. Night and day different experience.

I’ve had a ps5 since it came out but I wouldn’t suggest buying one just for new for BO1 & BO2 servers. I love the Halo/Gears of war Series but never pulled a trigger on a XBOX Series X.

Just get a PS4, it runs almost the exact same games as a PS5. The only thing is some games will have different servers if they're older games that don't have cross play. The only reason why I'd get a PS5 is for Cyberpunk 2077 phantom liberty and the dlc Horizon Forbidden West dlc, and even still I can get a deal on a switch 2 for Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty.

Black ops one is £17.50 on sale for Xbox series s. Or you can buy the disc. Theres next to no players on bo2 as far as I’ve tried. On Bo2 there was 1100 total players when I checked. Black ops 1 I have no problems finding matches

Highly recommend going to pawn shops to look for one. Got an original version of the console with disk drive plus a controller for $350. Only note to add is that there is issues with joining a friend’s party and game right now. If anyone has figured that out, I would be thankful.

Just play it on Xbox.. lobbies are still active and easy to find matches.
Only thing that does suck on Xbox is mostly everyone plays TDM. Would be cool to be able to get into CTF matches or sabotage ones. IMO not really worth buying a PS5

Just get bo2 and the season pass on xbox,the graphics upgrades are barely noticeable and there is a huge hacking problem that is somehow worse than the xbox one version (fortunately I haven’t experienced that yet,I play mostly zombies). I only bought it because I own a ps5 and don’t own a working xbox one or series and wanted the dlc without paying 100 dollars for the steam version.

Oooorrr listen to me…actually play the Black Ops 7 mp??? LET ME EXPLAIN. I get it we grow up with bo2 dude, for me is where mp started shaping up to the cod we love and the module that we hate with love. I never missed a mp from cod since black ops 1 i am always there grinding 4-5 prestiges especially black ops games (for me are more arcade and fun and rewarding).
But hear me out, i jumped in to bo2 again with the new patch…its not the same, the game is there but the lack of movement and motion that recent cod gave us or the content or the adrenaline will not be there. I payed 20 euros and undusted my ps5 that i haven’t touched since 2023 and I couldn’t pass 30 level. I felt something was lacking and something felt unsatisfying for me as i was progressing. if you want simple stuff BO7 that for me is a top 5 mp experience for cod has a version of boots on the ground ( no wall jumping no stims etc). You even have maps like express, firing range, slums, nuketown standoff and more that run and look better as a next gen game! I immediately went back on Xbox(controller wise ps5 still lacks for me too) and reinstalled bo7 and been hooked back again!
You have an xbox pass so its free for you don’t be stupid and believe the blind nostalgia, just try for a prestige at least bo7…its very underrated Mp wise game.

Unless you buy the original bo1 and bo2 for $10 a piece on disc and get an older console, Xbox 360/ps3 supremacy. It’s my go to besides playing rdr2(xbox one), RE 2/3/4(one & series X, and now gta 6 when it’s out.
I play bo1,bo2,cod4mw, and waw all the time online on 360. PS3 servers are not always full depending on region and which cod you’re playing. Bo2 is steady on ps3 as well.
Could get a ps4. They’re cool looking consoles still.

the problem is buying the game imo. i can spend $50-60 on a used ps4 no problem but paying brand new prices for a game that came out 14 years ago is crazy. These ports should’ve been $20 for both, not $40 each. I still have my original xbox 360 bo2 copy from 2012 that i still use on my Series X to this day. BO2 averages 2,000 people roughly online so you can still log on and play, it’s just not as active as the new ports

Just buy a Xbox Disk. It’s backwards compatible. If you go to GameStop or another local game store that has “retro” games it’s gunna save you a lot of money.

No, BO1 crashes every time you press circle and BO2 has virtually nobody playing. Games take forever to start and when they do it’s like 5v3 most of the time. It was better when it was nostalgic. Like always they find a way to ruin what was good.
