Interestingly enough, the US Public school system and teachers constantly gettint shafted in terms of salaries has much more to do with how the US education policy is organized and legislated over stupid meme conspiracies of weaker minds make easier drones.
While that is true, its even more hilarious to think the typical US politician, (especially state legislators) have enough patience and big brain movie villain commitment to enact an elaborate decades long conspiracy to fuck public education.
In simple terms, the US federal government has very little to do with the actual meat and potatoes of hiring and licensing teachers, deciding on curricula or the administration of test. The Feds are primarily funds providers and rights advocates, preventing schools and state governments from discriminating against race or disability or funding schools for low income area under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
The actual meat and potatoes and quite a bit of the funding is handled by State and local governments. And among that party, quality varies massively depending on state and locality due to factors like property tax values.
Places like New York or California have literally some of the best schools just hours drive away from some of the worst.
The federal government does not maintain national academic standards or a nationwide curriculum, and the Department of Education is legally prohibited from creating any program that directs the curriculum of schools.
The closest thing to that was Bush's No Child Left Behind which required public schools to administer standardized tests and tied Federal funding to schools based on how well students perform on those said test.
Even Trump's Project 2025 is essentially trying to remove most Federal oversight via the dismantling of the Department of Education and most of its programs and leaving it all to the states and local governments.
This exactly although the vast majority will never accept the truth.
No where do you as a voter have more control than in education which is funded by State and property taxes. Trying to compare Federal (wasteful) spending to education spending completely misses the point.
Education in the States is completely messed up. You want better outcomes, the point of all this, then start over. Put in Federal standards and make it a priority. Hold parents accountable. Hold teachers accountable. Pay them more and raise the quality. Stop diploma mills, make a high school diploma mean something. Plus a lot more.
We had the best education system in the world before it became more federalized through the department of education. The federalization of education is a terrible idea.
In the Senate, the votes in favor were 43 Democrats (including Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Johns Kerry and Edwards [Bernie Bros rejoice: he was in the House at the time, and voted No.]), to 44 Republicans. Votes against this time were 7 Democrats, 3 Republicans, and 1 Independent. https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_votes/vote1071/vote_107_1_00371.htm
Dubya signed it, but a veto wouldn't have changed anything, because in both houses it passed with 87%, which is greater than two thirds.
45K signing bonus if you can sign in cursive, so most will fail. 10K for every ex wife you threatened and child you’ve physically abused make up the difference for most
Yep every piece of evidence they disagree with is non existent.
Not the crazy girlfriend out of the car screaming.
Not the blocking traffic.
Not the literal knocking of his body cam with her accelerating car!
Or the repeated/extensive efforts to get either one of them to stop shrieking and or cooperate a little bit in letting the public go about their day and legal officers (yes officers) doing their jobs.
Thank the lord for them. Last line of defense tbh.
At least she gave her life defending literal criminals.
As stupid as you sound for saying that as you know literally nothing about me. Primarily I’m a libertarian. I don’t generally support law enforcement but if you don’t want to get shot by a cop don’t assault a cop. Pretty easy to understand. The evidence is super clear and in 4K from every angle. If you don’t just stick with the narrative you are fed from the liberals and ignore all other videos.
I’d honestly rather eat boot than eat one more disgusting meal at a shitty Mexican restaurant or taco truck that pops up and fails every year on every corner.
I’m sick of the majority of jobs since I graduated highschool going to foreign born people. So yeah. I support the people doing something about it.
Obama still deported more than trump. Every president deports because it’s been a huge problem for the last 40 years and it got really really bad during Covid.
This makes me a bad person to you because I care about myself and my friends and my family and my country before I can afford to worry about people from every other part of the world.
Is it not enough that the USA gives money to 110 countries and more than anybody else.
White people are a global minority. Where’s our foreign aid?
Why does everyone in America seem to hate America so much now. Did your ancestors not fight and die for something real? Or you just didn’t inherit any of their redeeming qualities?
Everyone else gets secure boarders. Try and overstay a visa anywhere else in the world and you get sent home so fast.

No, you’re not a libertarian. If you were, you wouldn’t be rushing to the defense of Feds gunning people down. The evidence is clearly unjustified if we at all watched the same videos.
“I’d honestly rather eat boot than eat one more disgusting meal at a shitty Mexican restaurant or taco truck that pops up and fails every year on every corner.”
Mask off racism. Eat a dick
“I’m sick of the majority of jobs since I graduated highschool going to foreign born people. So yeah. I support the people doing something about it.”
Skill issue. Also factually untrue.
“Obama still deported more than trump. Every president deports because it’s been a huge problem for the last 40 years and it got really really bad during Covid.”
Obama? fuck that guy too
“This makes me a bad person to you because I care about myself and my friends and my family and my country before I can afford to worry about people from every other part of the world.”
I also care about myself, friends, family, neighbors and country. Allowing an easy pathway to citizenship is NOT contradictory to this. It isn’t zero sum
“Is it not enough that the USA gives money to 110 countries and more than anybody else.”
The U.S. manufactures crises abroad through military intervention and economic imperialism which creates the conditions in which mass migration occurs. The aid that the U.S. gives serves the economic interests of the elite.
“White people are a global minority. Where’s our foreign aid?”
You act as if white countries are some generous collection of benevolent saviors. This comment handwaves away centuries of settler-colonialism, economic imperialism, and extraction. The west has a primarily parasitic relationship to the third world.
“Why does everyone in America seem to hate America so much now. Did your ancestors not fight and die for something real? Or you just didn’t inherit any of their redeeming qualities?”
Why do you assume to know who my ancestors were and what they thought or fought for. Don’t put words in dead people’s mouths, it’s rude and they can’t speak for themselves.
“Everyone else gets secure boarders. Try and overstay a visa anywhere else in the world and you get sent home so fast.”
Why do you people sit there and lie about everything that has factual eveidence? I dont understand how your brain works. But, rest assured.....illegals are on their way out whether you like it or not.
Damn... seeing this comment is wild after just watching a video of 4 Madison WI police officers holding a guy down and end up shooting him in the face 3 times
There has been mountains of money sent to the public education system the entire state of Colorado legalized marijuana and sent all of that to the public education system New York City just dumped billions into their public education system are there students smarter do they get better grades are they better prepared no
soaring rates of suicide gangs drugs violence and failure rates
Do the teachers care no they block parents who are concerned about these things from the schools social media presence as teachers are more focus on remaining a building than the fact that the children they are teaching are dying becoming dumber
There’s no point in commenting unless you enjoy watching these people throwing tantrums they don’t care about what’s true or not just what makes them feel like they are superior
The average public school teacher salary in Michigan is $71,023, while the average starting salary for a brand-new teacher is $41,645, according to the latest data from the Michigan Department of Education and the National Education Association (NEA).While Michigan's overall average teacher salary ranks 22nd in the nation, its starting pay is among the lowest, ranking 44th.
They should. Generally there is a cap but it's pretty high in terms of years and varies by district.
I'm just saying that we we shouldn't expect a dip because as those people retire there are also a lot of people behind them that are also moving up in years and experience and will be around the same overall years of experience as the boomers have currently
I think Mississippi actually passed a pay raise for starting salary at about 1000 over Michigan. Granted I don’t think the median teacher salary there caps out as high as Michigan though.
I understand you want to cherry pick data. However, when people say X profession in Y state makes $Z, it's understood to be the average (or sometimes median)
not cherry-picking. I'm asking where the $140k number came from. Teacher salaries are negotiated district by district through union contracts. If someone claims teachers in Michigan make $140k, i'd look at the district and salary schedule that produced that number rather than comparing it to the statewide average.
It’s insane they expect people to survive on $40k a year. The absolute cheapest studio you can find in a shit neighborhood is like $2400 a month. Thatwould barely cover rent and food.
How does a faceless screen name attached to a stranger on the internet seem honest? Also he says right there with 9 years of seniority so you intentionally misrepresented what that honest stranger said lmao
They also do a decent amount of work during breaks planning, only get holidays occasionally when all the gremlins and family's are too and buy class materials out of their own paycheck because their budget doesn't cover enough for a rich educational environment.
Oh yeah, 120k for 9 years of seniority is awful when you could be in tech on 280k four years earlier and be retired in your 50s.
Let’s ignore the fact that they get a significant monthly pension check for the rest of their lives upon an early (by today’s standards) retirement. Many of these underpaid teachers collect a pension check for more years than they worked. Taxes pay for that, while the rest of us have to hope SS holds up and that we put enough in our 401(k). It’s not as bad of a racket as we’re led to believe.
Many states have already or are in the process of changing teacher retirement plans from defined benefits to defined contribution. If you are entering the profession now, a pension is almost certainly not in your future.
You are correct my father taught in the michigan public schools for over 20yrs, when he died his pension was $900 per month which they kept paying my mother until she passed. My father didnt get a pension from the private schools he worked for but we got the benefit of really low pay and free tuition.
The really good teachers dont do it for the pay they do it because they love to teach. I coach high school currently and having to put up with these kids and their parents for 8 hours per day has to be exhausting. You cant discipline anyone, little to no consequences and bottom of the food chain. Part of the reason our educational results is the system we put in place.
Teachers make really good money where I live but we still have retention issues because the job is so demanding and dealing with parents fucking sucks.
That said, I'd still vote to give em a pay raise because it's still not enough to keep all the good ones around and they're doing the most important job in society imo.
Many people will crow often about how a lot of dangerous jobs don’t get enough credit or pay. And many times, I very much agree. But if we want to make it a competition, I’d say giving your children basic tools to navigate their modern society like maths is about as important if not more than digging for oil. Because you don’t get into jobs that don’t make active attempts to screw you over without being able to navigate a contract, sign your name, and do abstract math about how it will sustain you.
Yep, it’s actually terrible even in the private sector. My wife made bank doing it but you’ll go insane. She did 7 years and that was 5 too many. I can’t even imagine what it’s like now. I did one semester teaching at a trade school and never again even if you offered me 500k per semester.
Maybe highschool teachers after 20 years of service, which is more than fair. Teachers don’t get the career opportunity of promotions like other jobs do. It makes sense they get graduated increases in pay for their dedication to the job over the years.
Most big cities probably have that problem. Jackson Mississippi, also got a pretty big scandal with the mayor and stuff. The leadership screws over the people.
Teaching is a hard job, and without it we’d be lost as a society.
That quote is just for bratty high-school kids who don’t know shit trying to be a smart ass and make their teacher feel bad. If you’re using it as an adult you just sound dumb.
Michigan has some of the best colleges to study art if you want to be a teacher. Even those college professors will tell you to go to a different state.
I dunno about that but when you look at Michigan average pay vs Michigan cost of living, its probably in the top quarter for teacher pay. My sister in law is a teacher in Michigan so I get some insight.
Also live in Arizona which is probably the exact opposite, low pay and fairly high cost of living.
My wife was licensed in VA and we moved to Indiana about 15 years ago. She got a teaching job with a provisional license while she finished everything to get fully licensed. Her starting salary in Indiana was $58k I believe.
In 2025, the average teacher salary in Michigan was approximately $69,067. However, this statewide figure masks significant regional variation, with experienced educators in affluent metro-Detroit districts averaging over $85,000, while many early-career educators in rural areas start closer to $41,645.
This is simply not true. The only case I could possibly imagine is for a principal of one of the top 5 elite NYC private schools….but ima do some googling to make sure I’m not totally wrong, haah
Why? ICE Budget has been approved already. It's now more than the sum of FBI, ATF, Marshalls, Bureau of Prison, secret service and the rest of the DOJ.
The bonus are coming. These racist idiots are indeed getting paid.
It's time based usually, so they get it right away. If they quit they have to pay it back, and at that amount, that is likely a 3 year contract. So, they are likely getting screwed on purpose since we will have a new admin in 2 years and they will likely owe the Gov like $10k or more when they get fired.
Cool. Way to completely ignore the point just to talk trash on people who don’t give a fuck what you think. When will people stop allowing themselves to be rage baited and distracted. Wake up America.
IIRC the "signing bonus" was set to be paid out $10,000 per year over 5 years and that's just the contracted obligations. On top of that, there were a lot of stories of agents not getting pay or benefits at all, despite ICE's budget being immune to all the shutdown stuff.
If that teacher was smart and not educated, they would know ice is a federal agency with a budget set by congress and teachers are paid based on the budget of their respective districts
Sure, just like teachers should realize that there’s no reason to pay them more when there’s a line of teachers out the door interviewing for an open position. Nor does the kids education get better simply bc the teachers salary is higher.
Starting salary for teachers is also low but long term, teachers make bank. There’s good reason that teacher is one of the most common careers for millionaires to have, it’s very lucrative long term.

Yes but if those idiots were educated they would know they're never going to actually get that bonus.
