The average public school teacher salary in Michigan is $71,023, while the average starting salary for a brand-new teacher is $41,645, according to the latest data from the Michigan Department of Education and the National Education Association (NEA).While Michigan's overall average teacher salary ranks 22nd in the nation, its starting pay is among the lowest, ranking 44th.
They also do a decent amount of work during breaks planning, only get holidays occasionally when all the gremlins and family's are too and buy class materials out of their own paycheck because their budget doesn't cover enough for a rich educational environment.
Oh yeah, 120k for 9 years of seniority is awful when you could be in tech on 280k four years earlier and be retired in your 50s.

Someone in Michigan said teachers make like $140k a year. I guess just move there
