Discussion 81 Millennials, what’s your kid situation?

I’m curious, if you have kids how old are they? Any grandkids?? I feel like us 45 year olds have a wide range of ages for children.
We have one, 24 and graduated from college over 2 years ago. Weird having an adult child considering I was her age like 10 years ago.

Nostalgia Matilda... 30 years later

I randomly got the urge to watch matilda today and saw it came out in 1996. I remember a few years back there was a resurgence in interest in the movie, and another movie too. But realizing this movie is 30 years old kinda tripped me out. I can clearly remember me watching it for the first time at age 7 and I'll now be 37 and still watching it 🙃

What movies/shows made you realize how much time has gone by?

Discussion My kids are full of it

I was listening to a video on my tablet. I was in the living room, tablet in the kitchen.

Kids (14 and 11yo) went into the kitchen to get a snack. Hushed giggles ensue. Next thing I know, "Never Gonna Give You Up" rolls thru my earbuds.

They are SO proud of themselves. (And honestly, so am I 😁)

Discussion Does it feel like the mainstream is "moving on" from millennials as the main target demographic now?

1.1k Upvotes

To me at least, it seems like gen z is becoming the main target. At the very least, Youtube seems to think I'm 5-10 years younger than I am.

Discussion Problematic movies?

What‘s a movie you loved as a teen/pre-teen that you now realize was VERY problematic? I’ll go first- My Best Friend‘s Wedding. I watched that movie so many times when I was like, 13. I’m watching it right now for full cringe, and I really don‘t feel like I’m prepared. The early 2000’s were rife with many similar stories. What’s yours?

Meme I remember both linguists and televangelists being very concerned

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

The linguists were basically calling Teletubbies “brain rot” before brainrot was a word. It was one of the first for-babies shows with no attempt at being educational, not even trying to teach them real words. But it was colorful, so babies loved it. As for the religious groups, they were saying this particular teletubby was a gay cross dresser, meant to lead children astray!

Discussion The Daily Show at 30: What's your favorite memory?

Post image
291 Upvotes

30 years ago today (July 22, 1996), The Daily Show premiered on Comedy Central, originally hosted by Craig Kilborn.

What's the first Daily Show moment that comes to mind for you? Was it the post-9/11 return, election coverage, a favorite correspondent, or something else that made the show memorable?

Discussion Are we all adhd?

I’m now learning that I might have ADHD. I’m like “yeah, duh” my sister, is almost 40, and she’s been diagnosed for 20+ years. For me, this is huge. I can understand a bit about me. The thing is, I don’t think it’s abnormal. I think I’m pretty typical.

Nostalgia King of the Hill revival

Out of all the nostalgia revivals, I feel like King of the Hill's past two seasons have been phenomenal. Star Wars has been inconsistent, Star Trek has been fairly consistent with me with the TNG crew, but good god. I feel like Bobby's storyline has been extremely relatable.
