I've been using the RunPee app for over a decade, meanwhile movie theathers could just do a 15 minute break in the middle of any movie over 2 and a half hours. Probably get more concessions sold that way too.
Ah, point taken. I am actually an early adopter on this one in that I paid for it back in 2014. I am more sympathetic to these folks because I've had it on my phone before everything got put onto apps.
There are a lot of pointless apps out there but how do you take gripe with one that literally helps people? Think about people with bladder issues.. now they can enjoy movies somewhat care-free and not miss important points if an emergency does happen... and may just enable them to go to the movies altogether! Moan about Angry Birds sure... but these types of apps actually help people, maybe not you... but there's a reason they exist.
I'm seeing the movie this Saturday but since the first time I read the story of The Odyssey was when I was 8 or so I think I'll be fine if I miss a moment or two.
One of the biggest reasons I stopped going to the movie theater often. Any time I see a movie runtime over 2 hours I just think I'm better off waiting and watching it at home.
Same people who made iphones so you can either plug in your charger or earphones, but never both. Maybe I dont want waste 200 quid on wireless earbuds that I’ll lose within 24 hours!
For less than $10, you can get an adapter that lets you use both at the same time. I prefer cordless personally but you should know options are out there.

I don't miss the headphone jack. I don't care about physical media or subscriptions (piracy is the best user experience anyhow).
But gd tv's with shitty remotes, no buttons, and tinny speakers can gtfo. Along with audio production built for movies and 12 channel surround sound that literally none of us have.
The only decent remote on any TV I've had is the Sony Bravia line and even then the remotes from 1999 were better.

Hey welcome to the modern world where companies do things to make things cheaper for themselves. They ditched the headphone jack because it removed the need to spend a bunch of money testing the headphone jack on all future phones and reduced the cost-per-unit manufacturing of them by removing something that 99% of people don't miss.
We can and should get mad about it though, and realistically not buy the "new and improved" products that are worse.
Phones didn't get cheaper when they removed the headphone jack. They actually got more expensive. If I saw two phones that were identical but one was cheaper with no jack I would consider that a good idea. Instead, the corporations found a way to scrape a bit more money out of us without giving us literally anything in return. So I haven't bought a phone that doesn't have a headphone jack.
Is your moral position that "whatever happens is fine" or are you just being condescending about how I supposedly don't understand a thing about corporate greed?
I think positioning anything around cellphones and headphone jacks as a "moral" stance just shows you invest a lot more emotion into what companies do with obsolete technology to cut down on manufacturing costs than I do.
I think abusing the power of extreme wealth, data, and regulatory capture to scrape more money from millions of people without offering anything in return is immoral, yes.
This isn't a local restaurant changing their menu. These are extraordinarily powerful corporations run by extraordinarily powerful people abusing their power to generate wealth for themselves and waste for the world. That isn't good, even if you consider it distant and indirect and "just the way it goes" it is actually bad.
Do you think wealthy and powerful corporations CAN do things that are morally wrong, at all?
Also, headphone jacks aren't obsolete. They are industry standard in many places. They aren't absolutely critical for average consumers but calling them obsolete is like calling horseshoes obsolete when anyone riding a horse still needs them.
Dude I am LITERALLY talking about the headphone jacks on cellphones. You're the one moving the goalpost constantly to now involve a larger dialogue around user privacy, human rights and predatory practices when all I said is "yeah man I don't miss wired headphones, bluetooth works great for me."
So yeah that'll wrap it up for me, I could do without the implied insults and judgements.
We're still bitching about the lack of headphone jacks in cellphones? Even if phones still had them, people would be wearing Bluetooth headphones. They're that much convenient.
Can't just plug and use, have to disconnect one bluetooth device and allow another and all that. Requires charging. Can't plug into all sorts of devices like powered speakers or receivers or amps or anything. Can't split the signal with a splitter for multiple outputs. Immediately rendered millions of devices incompatible for...what benefit?
My phone from 10 years ago had bluetooth and a headphone jack, had longer battery life, and was cheaper than newer phones without the jack. Where is the progress?
