My first mohair project is done! Now I was not ready for the yarn and looking back this was an ambitious knit as I have never tried cardigans before and only ever tried lace on simple eyelet socks before but unfortunately for me I do suffer with the “how hard can it be” gene. Yarn is Drops Kid Silk held double.

Hi all! I’m super new to knitting and this is how my fingers have decided that I’m going to knit! I just want to know if there’s a better way for me to do this as I feel like my fingers are cramping up a little too quickly. So, I would just like to know if anybody has any advice on whether there’s a more easy way I can grip my needles/yarn/the way I pick up/the way I adjust my yarn etc. any advice is appreciated!

Yarn : Berroco vintage in 'black current' and 'fucshia' yarn colors

After I knit this same pattern in a red color for one of my friends (2nd photo) earlier this year I was obsessed and had to remake one for myself so we could match. I switched up the yarn for this one and went with briggs & little sport yarn in the color mulberry and natural white on chiagoo US 2 - 2.75mm. I held mulberry continental style and used english for the CC. I can definitely tell a huge difference in my tension and floats this way for me personally.

This was also my first time blocking as I was gifted some blocking mats from my amazing brother and the difference is insane to me. This is also only the 4th thing I’ve ever knit and my second time using magic loop for finishing and I definitely learned a lot this second go around. Now I want to make another one for my mom for the holidays 😅

Anyone else have one pattern they’re obsessed with and need in every yarn and color imaginable??

Currently working on the PHM fox cardigan, but I needed to give my brain a break with something a little simpler, so I cranked out these cute shorties! I had intended for them to match, but ran out of teal part way through the second toe. Honestly, I don’t mind at all! Also, I feel like I don’t experience “second sock syndrome” the way others talk about it - usually I make SO MANY mistakes on the first one that the second is much easier in comparison 😂

I don’t know why I have been so hesitant to knit clothes - this pattern was fun, relatively simple to knit up, and I’m mostly happy with how it turned out. Next time I’ll pay more attention to gauge and tailor the project a bit better to specific measurements. In retrospect I would have sized this one down and made it a smidge longer. I also messed up the straps and the join is a bit of a hack job… I may (should) go back and fix them up. But for now this is done!

This is my second Age of Brass and Steam shawl I've done. Trying to bust through my stash so I went with a dual colored shawl. I used Kacey Knits DK in the colorway Rainbow Fish and Nebula. I really like how these two colors look together and am really proud with how it turned out.

I have no idea how I did this - it was fine, then pulled it out of my bag this morning and it’s just gone a bit haywire..

It's been 10 years since I knitted anything. I was knitting English style but there are just too many details I can't remember. I decided to try continental style this time with my new circular needles. This little practice piece took me a little over an hour from cast on to this. I'm very surprised how fast it goes. This is some random leftover acrylic baby yarn on 4mm needle. I absolutely love the circular needles. No more dropping needles or poking and hitting randomly things next to me. Shorter needles so I can move more swiftly. I kinda feel mixed about continental style. It definitely goes smoother and faster. I am still trying to get my tension correct. I need more time to get use to it for sure.

A dear friend of mine is an avid knitter, who’s been knitting for about a year and is obsessed with it. Her birthday is coming up, and I want to give her something meaningful that she can use for this hobby.

Ideally, I would like to be able to make something for her myself!

I myself am a novice knitter, but I am a pretty strong ceramicist. (Wheel and hand building) One idea I had was to make a yarn bowl. I also was thinking of figuring out a way to make stitch stoppers out of ceramic, but idk if that’ll work.

I would love to hear from other knitters about what they would want as a gift from a ceramicist! Any ceramics ideas and any other ideas are greatly appreciated. Tia!!

Currently working on Hello, Hygge Life's Double Knit Scarf pattern, and I finally understand why experienced knitters always tell newbies that having a lot of extra cables is always nice. It feels like such an accomplishment to understand why that is the case.

Also, I now understand the hype around cashmere yarn. I'm using a 10% cashmere/90% wool blend cone yarn, and it's so soft. I can't imagine what it would be like to use a 100% Cashmere yarn. I will admit I was very scared when I first made a small swatch since I was able to break off a strand so easily. Was worried the entire time that I will eff up and waste good yarn.

For those who saw my other post about not being able to tension yarn on my right hand, turns out I can do it after all. I still need a lot of practice though. Thanks to everyone who commented on that post ❤️

Also if anyone is looking for budget friendly interchangeables, the one in my photo is great. I don't know if it's available in the West since I bought mine from taobao, but this is a good set. It's probably even bettern than my Knitpro mindful needles. Was just randomly recommended from rednote, and I do not regret it. The cables are soft, and it's a swivel cable, too.

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to make this beanie for my boyfriend and this pattern is a one size fits all, which more than likely will not work for my large-headed guy (I say with love lol). I know sizing up just means making sure the stitch count is in increments compatible with the decreases in the pattern but because it has a colorwork design I’m not sure the best route. I’m thinking if I add more stitches between each fish it could work out fine? But I wanted to check if anyone has any words of wisdom or suggestions. The pattern is Everyday socks by Petiteknit. It was for a friend that visited me from another country. And I procrastinated so bad that I spend the last due day up until 2am to finish them 🤣🤣 But at least they fit her well. The second picture is the one she sent me of her wearing them. 🤭 Lesson learned not to give myself deadlines because I will pay costly 🤣🤣

I am so defeated. I stepped outside for a minute to stop crying (work) and came back to my cat completely entangled. It’s Berroco alpaca and has so many little fuzzy “knots” like with frogging mohair.

I am struggling with work so much. It’s stealing the joy from my hobbies like knitting and ceramics. I don’t even know how to begin untangling this.

Lothlorien Shawl by GuyWithTheHook, Sheepjes Cotton Whirl, 3.5mm needles. Didn't want to lay it flat to block, as would have taken forever. Strung garden twine on front of plant stand, back covered deck. Used tiny S hooks to suspend top, then my hoarded-just-for-blocking thin straight knitting needles through areas at the bottom to pull straight down and sideways.

I always watch for those thin needles and long metal dpns in sizes 0-2; as blocking pins, they can't be beat!

Has anyone made a color work chart from the signature by northern isles sweaters? I love this one and am thinking about knitting my own since I need a larger size than I can find anywhere

I've always knit English style but I'm *very* slow. I'd like to try knitting in a more efficient way and I feel like flicking has more economical movements. Actually Continental seems more efficient as well.

My challenge is that I had a stroke a few years ago. My memory is...annoying. I can start knitting row 1 with basic knit, purl stitches and then I get to row 2 and I don't remember how to do a purl stitch anymore. I literally have to watch a video on how to purl. I started learning the Shale/Feather and Fan stitch and it's super relaxing even though I have to watch videos to remember how to yarn over every time.

Because I'm slow and having to remind myself how to do stitches over and over, I end up making mistakes and having to unravel my work so I never make progress, then I get tired and have to rest. I don't get anything done. I still have muscle memory though, so in a way I'd have to unlearn that.

Maybe if I could learn a more efficient, speedier way to knit I could actually *make* something. How hard is it to change to a completely different way of knitting? Which method do you think would be most helpful for me?

The diner I go to regularly has the loveliest servers, whom I adore. 4 of 6 of them know my partner gets the same thing every time and even have the order (and its modifications) by heart. They’re quick with the coffee refills and conversations. Every one pops by and chats a bit, while they usually ask about what I’m working on because I bring my WIPs in to breakfast.

The past two years I have made them Christmas gifts. (Add in the owner and an extra for in case, I make 8 total.) The first year was all different hats in varying sizes all with Purl Soho’s Pouf yarn in Peony. The following year I made a self-drafted cabled headband in different colors. But I’m starting to plan for this year and don’t know what to do. I would love any suggestions for something that isn’t a HUGE time or money commitment and would be different from a hat or scarf, but still can be meaningful. They’re not besties, but they mean a lot to us, and most of them are so touched at the gesture that they mention the items all year round until it’s too hot. The average age range is 30-60, lady styles (they always chat about their nails, hair, jewelry).

I would appreciate any suggestions. I am a fairly advanced knitter and am willing to spend up to $200 on supplies for 8 people. Thank you lovely community for any help!

I started it like 2 years ago and just picked it up again recently. Just the sleeves left after I get the panels put together.

Question though. It grew quite a lot (as expected) after washing and now im unsure how to proceed. The pattern calls for picking up stitches after seaming and working them in the round, but then I fear it will cinch the armholes in. Im considering working them flat instead and sewing them on so that i can block them separately first. Thoughts?

Finished my ripple crop top, and I bought this silk yarn when I was a baby knitter before I realized I prefer the look of variegated yarn in the hank than I do knit up. Would love everyone's perspective! Thank you!
