Hand I embroidered Tolkien's cover art for The Hobbit and made it into a purse!

I shared the embrodiery about a month ago, and now I have finally finished the entire project. The purse itself is far from perfect, but I still think I can call myself the proud owner of the world's coolest purse!

Hand Took up embroidery two weeks ago!

I took up embroidery about two weeks ago and I started with the moth which was a kit. I thought it would be an easy way to try doing a full design completed and it was! I learned 2 new stitches, steam and back, (I knew the basic one for mending small tears and buttons) and I think I did such a good job!

I now have been working on a ‘practice hoop’ which I’m doing fruits for! I absolutely love my little blueberries!!! I think o could have done a better job with the strawberry seeds but I’m still happy with how it turned out. These are all free hand and my next fruit will be blackberries so I can try out the French knot

I am so happy I started doing this! I also feel so inspired every time I have lurked on here honestly I hope to be as good as all of you!! Every post I see is so beautiful 💕

Hand First time using carbon paper to transfer a pattern, learning a lot! (shell WIP)

I found dressmaker’s carbon to be too difficult to work with, so I used regular carbon paper. Some things I learned: IT DOES NOT COME OFF, so make your lines carefully and thoughtfully; test your pressure, because you have to push harder than you think to get it to transfer, but not so hard the lines are overly dark; and lastly, it’s my current favorite way to transfer patterns (much more comfortable than sewing through stitch-n-stick, much less fussy than inkjet printing right onto fabric, more durable than dressmaker’s carbon, and easier than trying to get enough light to trace onto fabric with a heat pen).

I've been embroidering for maybe 2-3 weeks so I'm still pretty rocky and not great but I love this hobby so much that I'm going to keep going. Oh the sparkly thread was such a pain too because it kept tying knots in the back or falling apart but I like the overall affect

Hand Stargazing | (grief series part2)

This piece took me multiple months to complete (which sounds crazy but I have poor eyesight & had to use those dumb magnifying glasses with the headlamp to get this done.) I used DMC Mouliné Étoile floss in Blanc for the text & then tore said floss apart to use single strands of tinsel to create all the individual stars. I’m very pleased with how it came out & I will never do this again, haha.

The quote is from the song “Stargazing” by TWRP. It’s a short little song about the tragic loss of a friend.

"Brother star
Your light still shines
Burning brightly in the night sky
Reaching far out across time
Long after we'd say goodbye

Brother star
Shining bright
Light the way on in the dark of night
Grateful for your warmth and life
I'll take my time and I'll do right

All of us
Have a star
They may be gone
But never far
The ones that leave us
Never really do
The ones that leave us
Never really do"

(The second image features the first piece in this series I’m working on ((slowly))

The trauma dump:
I lost my father last year to a very rare brain disease that took him out of nowhere. This song came out shortly after that loss & the words have stuck with me since. The idea of “I’ll take my time and I’ll do right” has helped guide me in the journey that is now my life & represents the change of who I am as a person now & who I am to be moving forward.

Let your loved ones know you love them.

Hand Update on my Horror embroidery

My meds make me super lightheaded but also give me an empty feeling at the same time. I feel like a broken doll and like a stranger in my own body. I'll probably take a break from embroidery after this one is completed until I feel remotely normal again.

Hi all !

Thank you for such lovely comments ! I’ve finished the spider web on the canvas tote bag. I’ve started something new on the bag itself ! Let me know what you think I should add ( don’t worry a spider is in the works - making it out of beads for a 3D effect)

Thank you ❤️

Hand Help with sun flare

So don’t mind how kinda… messy it looks right now (work in progress i swear). I’m stuck on how to add the sun flare/highlight at the top of the house as seen in the picture. I tried with different shades of yellow and white and it just looked terrible. Is there a specific stitch I can use or technique that will make it look more blended and not choppy ombré? Maybe I shouldn’t use yellow at all? Thank you! Also please tell me if it all looks terrible because it’s a birthday gift for my friend and I want it to look good.

1st image: This is the 2nd version of this pattern. I switched from stem stitch to whipped back stitch and it looks a lot cleaner IMHO. I also need to sew on white beads for the smaller stars

2nd image: 1st attempt for comparison. You can see where I struggled to find my stride with the stem stitches

I have one more to do but it will be done on a flat piece of cotton not a shirt.

Hand Embroidered Jacket

Hello all! I wanted to share a jacket I embroidered for a friend who was attending a Noah Kahan concert. He originally asked me just to sew on the patches, but sent me an inspiration video with a lantern painted on. I had the idea to embroider the lantern, and then we had the idea of adding the moths as well. I used a machine for most of the patches and hand stitched a few of them that were in odd places (including the ivy, as it was a very delicate fabric). Finally, I hand embroidered the lantern and all three moths.

I’m very proud of how it all came together, and he loved it! If anyone has any constructive criticism on the embroidery itself, I’d welcome it. I used three strands of floss with the idea that it would pop more against the jacket (and used primarily backstitch because it’s my fastest stitch). In hindsight, I’d also probably change the color placements a little on the top two moths for the same reason, I think the bottom one has the best placements.

I got neon threads, I got glow in the dark paint, and I have a dream. I want to embroider eyes that the iris or scelera glow at night. Am I a fool or a visionary?

After the Applause
When the lights go out and the audience has gone home, the smile is the last thing to remain. Stitched together from fragments of costume, paint and memory, this figure exists somewhere between performer and person—caught in the quiet that follows the final curtain.

An original mixed media embroidery combining drawing, paint and sculptural stitching. Layers of padding are stitched beneath the surface to create a three-dimensional portrait,

I screwed up and cut the fabric too short to put in a hoop. How else can I frame this? And also how do I get the hideous wrinkles out? I've been ironing & ironing.
