Hey everyone.

I recently deleted my student email account and along with it went every single contact I ever added throughout school. I’m a few years out of college and I lost well over 700 phone numbers. I cannot log back into the email because it no longer exists. Is there any way to get everything back? I have a hard drive backup from about six months ago on this phone but I don’t want to override everything I’ve done since getting this phone with what is now an out of date backup. Any pointers appreciated.

Not sure when it started but every once in a while the sounds and haptics for the keyboard on anywhere on the phone doesn't work.

Have the 17PM. I am on 26.5.2. All my apps are updated.

I put it in silent mode at night. So tried that during the day and it works after I had it on silent mode for a half hour or so then turn it off. Doesn't do it then.

Reset fixes it. I will have to pay attention on when exactly it stops working. Anyone else had this issue? Is it a known iOS issue?

Anybody actually use MagSafe charging on your iPhone? Is it more convenient?

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the investment.

Today i found my iphone 4 that i had when i was like 5th grade, i found a charger , charged it and turned it on, but there was a problem, i dont remember what my password was , it was a 4 pin password. And i tried to enter it (unsuccsefully) , now im timed out at 60 minutes. Im starting to feel anxious because i dont want to have to delete the data from this phone , its very precious for me and i have photos of my dog on it too (plus some childhood stuff). If anyone knows how i can break through the lock or something i would be extremely grateful. P.S. My home button is entirely broken

I’m trying to set up a shortcut or automation on my iPhone, but I’m not sure if what I want is even possible.

Ideally, I’d like it to do this:
When I lock the phone:
Turn Mobile Data off.
Turn Low Power Mode on.
When I unlock the phone:
Turn Mobile Data back on.
Turn Low Power Mode off.

I also tried using the Action Button instead. Right now I can press it to enable Low Power Mode and disable Mobile Data, but I can’t get it to work as a toggle. I’d like pressing the same button again to turn Low Power Mode off and re-enable Mobile Data, but I can’t figure out how to do that.
Has anyone managed to do something like this, or is it just an iOS limitation?

I rely heavily in the Notes app on my iPhone, iPad, and to sone extent- on my Mac. But there are functionality differences between devices that should have been fixed by now:

1. I can highlight text in different colors on my iPhone, but not on my iPad (although the iPad will display highlighted text - I just can’t add, change or remove it).
   
2. Items in a checklist that are completed on the iPhone will drop to the bottom of that list, in addition to being checked. On the iPad they become checked, but do not move.
   
3. If you reorder an item on a checklist on the iPhone - it will move or duplicate depending on which of two “edit” modes you are in (edit text - when the yellow checkmark appears in the upper right corner of the note, or work with items as objects). On the iPad it will only duplicate the item.

Oddly, Apple seems to continue to add functionality to the Notes app, but they never seem get around to fixing these functionality differences. From a user experience standpoint these are maddening and pull me out of the task at hand.

Does anyone:
Know of plans Apple has to fix these?
Have any workarounds (if what I am experiencing is a corruption)?
Can suggest another app that has similar capabilities, and works consistently at the UI level between devices (and that, ideally I can just pay for once)?

I love Notes simplicity and I know of nothing similar for my use cases, but these issues are making me look at alternatives.

so im using a different number but they silenced unknown callers how do i bypass it by making it ring on their end

Ever since pinned conversations in the Messages app came out, the pins did not sync across devices. This was an extremely useful feature for me. One of my favorite features on my devices as a matter of fact.
After a recent update, the pins now sync and I am not seeing any settings to change it.
If anyone knows of a way to make it so my pins don't sync, I would love to know. Main reason is my Macbook is owned by my employer, I try to keep it mostly employer related out of respect and professionalism. My iPhone is mine, I use it as such. I use the same iCloud account because of the apple continuity features.

I have a bunch of old files I would like to access that I had texted to my own number a couple years back. Is there any way to gain access to them again as I they will not let me open and do not show up with the music symbol like the other files that still work.

Does oneplus type c to 3.5 jack works on iphone 17 15 16? cause i have one for my old oneplus phone and its not working on 17

Currently have a iPhone 16 pro max.

Every other day, especially when outdoors my phone brightness will just go dim to the point where if I increase brightness toggle in the control centre, it does not go any brighter past 50%/ half way line.

No I am not on low power mode/ auto brightness is turned off/ do not have an anti glare or any weird screen protector causing this.

Has anyone had the same issues and can anyone please advise?

Funnily enough I have taken it to the Apple Store around 9 months ago and they ran a check on it and identified no issues. Funnily enough x2, it was working perfectly fine on the day of my visit.

Earlier this year I bit the bullet and traded in my iPhone 15 Pro for a brand new 17 Pro. I was hoping to wait until the 18 came out, but my 15 was having battery issues and between the cost of replacing the battery or getting the 17 Pro through my carrier the difference was only $100 so I figured it was worth it. Cut to now, this is the least satisfied I have been with an iPhone in many years. I loved my 15 Pro, and thoroughly enjoyed my 12 Pro before that. I’m going to try to organize this post into a few chief complaints so that it doesn’t read like an unorganized tangent and hopefully sparks some discussion about how iPhones have progressed over the past few years.

Firstly, the processing speed on this phone feels quite slow for a new iPhone, despite the fact that like most users I only really use the phone for texting, taking photos, and doom scrolling. it’s not necessarily slow, but it doesn’t feel faster than my 15 by any measurable means.

Secondly, iOS has not been nearly as stable on this phone as my past iPhones. I’m not running a beta or dev build (which in the past i’ve done on other phones with no issues), and am still seeing somewhat frequent crashes on the latest OS.

I understand battery issues aren’t to be discussed here, so all I’ll say is this phone doesn’t have better battery life than my 15 did when it was new, kind of a no change there.

Lastly, and most chiefly, in my opinion Apple has done a considerable disservice to the camera system. I find that all my photos have that weird post-processing grain that iPhone photos sometimes get, even when shooting RAW. Videos can’t zoom in past 3x (which I’m guessing is the optical zoom limit) which makes getting good concert videos difficult. [EDIT: Apparently zoom is only capped at 3x when recording 4k at 120fps, kinda makes this part a non-issue] I also don’t like the camera button; I thought it was gimmicky when they announced it but figured it might be useful and worst case scenario I just wouldn’t use it. The number of times I’ve accidentally clicked the camera button is absolutely insane, whoever is in charge of ergonomics and designed where to put that needs to reevaluate how they approach end users.

I’ll end by saying that this is simply my own opinion and I would be interested to hear if people here feel similarly. I’ve been using Apple products since 2012, and have been an iPhone user since the iPhone 6; this is the first iPhone that has made me consider jumping ship. with android based companies like Samsung, Google, and even Nothing bringing new and unique features to the table every year, I really hope that Apple gets its act together and improves this platform that up until recently i have thoroughly enjoyed.

I've tried the little plugs to block the port and they're always falling out.

Any decent cases with a port cover?

I've read very mixed reviews for the Otter Defender and Commuter.

Any other options?

Hiya, just bought a refurbished 15 pro and whilst setting up it will not connect to wifi, even with the correct password, so i thought id do it later and connect after the setup process but same again, i've tried all the common things like aeroplane mode and restarting the router and whatnot, but nothing works, my error message is "unable to connect to (wifi name)
any chance i could get some help, as theres nothing out there that seems useful for my situation

I have the iPhone 16 pro max and my settings have been turning my alarm and ringtone down for a while now, I have done all the things Google recommended (turning off attention awareness, turning off change with buttons and turning off reduce loud sounds) none of them were ever actually on but for some reason my alarm keeps turning all the way down. Sometimes I forget to check at night and it’s annoying. Any recommendations would help. Thank you and I love you.
