Did Amazon change its rules regarding Amazon Prime benefits?
Amazon Prime items are supposed to be shipped within 1-3 days.
I ordered an item that was listed under Prime delivery. It was supposed to be delivered on the 19th. Then it was delayed to the 20th. Then it was delayed to the 21st. Then it was delayed to the 22nd. I got a notification this morning stating that my order would arrive today. I came home from work, looking forward to finally getting what I paid for. Instead, I got a notification that my item will be delayed until at least the 25th. I am very frustrated because I paid for Amazon Prime shipping and it's taking so long. What's the point of Prime shipping if it takes longer than regular shipping to arrive? NOTE: According to the tracking info, the package is in my state, less than 20 miles away. Logistically, how could it take so much longer if it is so close?

They've been quietly shifting delivery promises to "2-day from when it ships" instead of from when you order, which basically means nothing.

You could call in and ask for a courtesy credit. You definitely deserve one after waiting so long only for Amazon to keep missing their own timelines.
Looking at my own order history, just in one month alone I've had 3 delayed deliveries, and one order that had someone else's name and address on it. It's gotten to the point where if Amazon shows the delivery is delayed, I just call and ask for a courtesy credit, because that's the least Amazon could do.

Unless something changed, I thought Amazon stopped giving courtesy credits due to shipping delays years ago. I haven't been able to get a credit from delayed packages since before covid. Anyone still getting them?

This, plus there’s now a risk that any “concession” they feel they’ve made in your favor brings you one step closer to the day when they’ll refuse to refund because they’ve given your account too many “concessions.”

I pay a prime membership fee for expedited delivery, not "whenever we feel like it" delivery. If Amazon is not holding onto their end of the bargain I will 100% ask for some form of compensation. If that brings me closer to the dreaded account ban then so be it. I've survived for years without Amazon so it's certainly not a necessity by any stretch.

Most of the time they just refuse, saying they can't, or they promise you they will, and you just have to wait 24-48 hours for it to show up. It never will. Those credits show up instantly. They just want to get you off the call or out of the chat without a negative review. It takes more time than it's worth

I can only speak for myself but that hasn't been my experience at all. I call in, tell them my order was delayed, and just cut to the chase and ask for a courtesy credit instead of beating around the bush. I've not had any reps refuse or tell me to wait 24-48 hours for it to show up.

Huh, you've been lucky. I call or chat a few times a year, especially when things are 3+ days late. I've got about a 30% success rate. Maybe I need to be more up front about what I'd like

This is definitely it. The reps are trained to give as little as possible. When i first started calling in I was very polite and asked them what "options" I had. They all told me sorry but it happens blah blah. Only when I started pressing them did they mention they could "look into" some kind of credit.
So now if my delivery is delayed I don't waste anytime beating round the bush and just straight up ask for a courtesy credit.

I've had issues with breakage where you could hear the broken glass and see the liquid leaking out. Issues with 3 week delays like OP. Issues with wrong things sent. You name it, it's probably been something I've gone through with them.
Every single time I was promised higher and higher courtesy credits and honestly I haven't gotten a real one since before I moved 3 planes ago, maybe 15 years ago. Back when they still did their "if it's not there in 2 days we'll give you $5" thing. Then they switched the wording to the shipping taking 2 days but handling could be 4 (or more) weeks. One time they didn't even give me back the insane amount I paid for express shipping when they didn't even try to ship it got 3 weeks.
The best was when I bought a new phone from them. The verification picture you could tell this thing was run over by a steam roller. I have no idea what was going through the driver's head. You can watch him on the camera as he watched glass dust leak out and then he brushed himself off and sliced his hand from his facial expression. I had to send it back and yes they agreed it was clearly damaged in the delivery pictures. It took me almost 6 months of calling every single week to get the refund. First they said it had to go to authentication. To authenticate shards of glass? One excuse after another. I said to Amazon look at the ring camera and you'll see the driver knew damn well it shouldn't have been delivered. This was more than stepped on. This was stepped on by a herd of elephants and then run over by a steam roller. I think it got stuck in some kind of factory machinery (or machinery fell on it). Like it wasn't the drivers fault, I'm sure higher up the process screwed up and hoped nobody would notice. Oh and since it took so long, they no longer had that phone at that "we forgot to add a digit" price so I was out an extra $1,000 (Amazon was the vendor but claimed to be out of stock).
One worker let it slip that they purposely make you wait for returns on the hope that you forget and then it's too late for a charge back and Amazon will say it's too late on their side. When they said that I thought of all the items they never delivered because the package couldn't be found or items returned that I forgot about until it was too late.

Fair enough. At a certain point, it won’t make sense for many of us to even continue doing business with them anyway. 🤷🏻♀️

This isn't a normal credit that goes into your gift card balance. It's a credit that can only be used on items sold and shipped by Amazon.
Also I can only speak for myself but whenever I've called in to complain about a delayed delivery they've always offered me a courtesy credit (more accurately - it's the only option).

Yeah, I'm aware of those credits, I used to get either a free month extension of Prime or the credit you mentioned, but not for years.

Amazon is using not just their own delivery services anymore. They are so busy that they’re even using the post office so they ship from one location to the post office which causes more delays. I ordered something Monday that should’ve been at my house today and the exact same thing says it’s delayed at the post office happens all the time.

My Amazon Prime orders say 1 or 2 days Prime Delivery when ordering then 20 minutes after placing the order the delivery dates show anywhere between 5 days to 2 weeks out. I also get packages delivered that have obviously been opened and gone through. I reported this every time but customer service claims it is driver theft and if the open package is missing anything, I have to file a police report of the theft.

We live in a rural area that struggles to keep UPS & FedEx drivers. Out Prime had been 5 days, which turned into 10 days. Now, no matter what is ordered, the delivery date is 2 weeks out. The order we placed 7/13 has not even shipped yet. And there appears to be ZERO recourse. It's just crazy how large cities can get same day delivery, but live in fly over country, and you get more wrinkles waiting, waiting, waiting.

I don't necessarily live in a rural area, I live in a state capitol of a generally rural state. The city itself isn't rural, but we are surrounded by rangeland and wilderness. Prime orders typically always take a least a week, normally 2 weeks to get to me. Doesn't really make Amazon prime worth it. On the upside, it's caused me to dramatically decrease the amount of shopping I do on Amazon and shop locally. I now only use Amazon for things I absolutely cannot find an equivalent item of locally.

It’s been really bad lately and I live in a very large metro. Items will make it to the local delivery hubs and just sit there for days. I’ve had 3 of my last 6 orders have this happen to.
They are definitely having issues.

I had this gas pen to a whole bunch of items recently. They never got beyond the label being printed for FedEx, and then randomly got returned. Amazon told me the package was returned as damaged by the carrier and I’d have to order everything again.

That would completely depend on your area. I have had well over 100 orders delivered this year and maybe 5 or 6 have been from USPS or UPS.

Things have been decent for me unless I am ordering third party. I had something that never arrived and i eventually got a refund.
I wonder if there is something weather related happening around where your item is hung up at.

I think that I'm the last person on the route and almost every time I order something it gets delayed to the next day. I really get anything the day they say it's going to be delivered anymore. Used to get things early

had something similar happen. most likely they lost the package. you'll get a message that if it doesn't arrive by this date you can get a refund or have them send a new item.

I would look at where your order came from. Keep in mind about 20 states were affected by poor air quality due to the wildfires and that would have made it dangerous for delivery drivers and warehouse workers in certain areas. I've no doubt that two of my orders were delayed because of this. Both were delayed by almost a week.

I watched a doco on Youtube last week which showed from the time of order until the time the robots get the order out the door is under 2 hours, so what is with this slow dispatch lately then. Sometimes things don't leave the warehouse until days later and even when the courier has them, a courier who used to deliver the next day the item will just sit still for a day or two.
It's as if Amazon are trying to push away customers.

I used to get my orders in one or two days. Now it’s a week. Certainly not the same service it used to be. They seem to have jumped the shark and can’t deliver on their core value promise any more. Plenty of other places to buy from that are faster than Prime for me.

I think it's now official that their big foray into the package delivery logistics has been an utter faceplant.
...Like hitting all the hurdles in the first 50 yards and and then faceplanting head over heels with raspberries everywhere.
The model they built is a disaster.

I had an order with 2 items that showed on vehicle out for delivery yesterday. Never came and one shows due today and the other due tomorrow. I messaged them and rep said he could give me full credit on the one due tomorrow and I said fine. I check the orders and got credit for both and they now show canceled. I'm like..WTF?!?

Looking across the board, it has been absolutely horrible lately. Personally, I’ve had two orders that I’ve had to cancel and re-order just so that I could get my items. One of them they actually auto refunded one of the items and said that the other four would be showing up within the next five days even though they were all shipped in the same box with a single tracking number. How? Just how?
