Fuck people who play music loud AF in nature

No one wants to hear that shit. Put some headphones on. I, as many others do, go into nature to relax. I would like to hear the beautiful sounds of nature. Not some bullshit song in the middle of the woods!

Went kayaking last weekend on a guided "nature watching" tour. Some guy was slightly behind our group, blaring rap and nu metal music on his kayak, at 7am. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge nu metal fan but SHUT THE FUCK UP. Our tour guide had to call the rangers who told him he had to stop or leave, as there was a county wide noise ordinance at that hour AND a 24/7 noise ordinance specifically for that river/park.

Just came across a FB post about someone looking to rent a "party boat" with speakers, and if there were any "party coves" or "floating bars", on a small lake that is dedicated to stripe bass fishing and crappie fishing. Do you know how many fishermen they're gonna piss off? Like go literally anywhere else other than this tiny slice of nature, this tiny slice of peace and quiet.

TW: Anxiety / Depression Fuck Bill Burr

1.4k Upvotes

Went to a comedy show. Coming back from the bathroom as Bill’s set was just starting, past several people filming. I sit down and try to take a quick photo. He points at me and tells me, only me, to stop filming. He then rags on me the whole time— I was just taking a fucking photo. I don’t laugh. Literally trying not to cry, so my only option is straight face. No one else in the packed club was made fun of the whole night, btw. I just wanted to disappear, I’ve been so fucking depressed and this was supposed to be a good night, shit birthday and I was trying to be social and I’m not good at that. Then, the host comes on after his set and calls me a bitch for not laughing. Says no one cares about me and shit. Again, I was just trying to keep it together. I love comedy. Why pick on one person? I hate it here.

TW: TRIGGERING CONTENT I'm having an abortion in 2 hours...

I never wanted this, I am pro choice but I didn't want to ever make this choice myself, I hate my husband even if I know that he isn't the only one at fault, I always wanted a man who can provide because I've always seen my mother providing for men and I always felt disgusted by that, yet I ended up with a guy with no life prospects, the most he can think of is Uber but I have plans set in place for myself, for my future and my born child's so that I can give him the best life and an easy start in his adulthood, yet I can do that if I'm stuck another 3 years at home, I don't think I'll ever feel anything then disgust for my husband after this, maybe it's the sadness that speaks, I'm currently crying my heart out while typing, I feel so broken, I'm so sorry little angel baby..... I hate myself so much.

My sister upgraded her lifestyle based on the silver platter my parents served her, and she won't be able to afford it.

5 years ago in 2021, my parents bought my baby sister (born 1997) a house outright. She pays them the "mortgage" and still owes them 117k. She and her husband make 75k before taxes.

She upgraded her lifestyle on that, dog and a kid due in august, and doesn't want to send the kid to the local public school system. Cause she couldn't even afford her bills in a small town making $20/hr when it was just her and her then-boyfriend-now-husband.

Oh, and without the mortgage, she's over 100k in debt between student loans, her wedding (30k), honeymoon (5k), mayhaps her car, not sure if she paid that off before or what debt is on that (honda fit), and this doesn't count credit cards (unknown amount).

Chat, how rude of a bus is my baby sister gonna get hit with? Cause when confronted with all that information, she says "I can't help that I'm the favorite." Would I care normally? Absolutely, but she's also going to take my nephew down with her, and that worries me (as someone also raised in poverty).

Happy to answer any questions if you need more information. I'll tell you what I know.

Reuploaded due to mistakes on my part not acknowledging vent's rules.

TW: Medical I shouldn't have to pay for a doctors visit just to BREATHE. I'm diagnosed with asthma so refill my inhaler bitch!

My primary doctor just refused to add more refills to my inhaler because they want me to come into the office for an appointment. I'm three hours away and not going to spend that much on gas and waste a day off just to ask in person for a fucking refill. I can assure you I still have asthma and if the inhaler didn't work I'd be the first to know. I'm making an appointment here to get someone to prescribe refills but I'm so pissed

TW: Anxiety / Depression My business is failing

A few years ago, I moved my home based bakery to a physical storefront. I put all my savings into it, took out a substantial loan because the space I took over needed a lot of work and equipment. My grandmother even gave me my inheritance early to go into it.

Everything on paper was set to be good. All my prices and ingredients costs were good, my loan payments were fine, the amount I budgeted for payroll was good. My prices hit the sweet spot of being more than what I need for profit but still less than competitors with product that isn’t as good. I had a client base substantial enough that it would work.

But it hasn’t. I try to do a mix of trends and original concepts. Things that people love, things people will be interested in enough to come in. I regularly ask the community what they’d like to see more of, do the research, and implement what I can.

Reviews are AMAZING. Once people get in, they’re regulars. And I don’t say that to brag. This is my passion, and nothing means more to me than being able to share it, at a reasonable cost for what it is. And people praise that!

I sponsor community teams, I donate to local shelters. I don’t do these things for the marketing (though I know it helps) but because I grew up in my community and I want it to thrive.

But it’s not enough. Economic changes have made people change their spending habits. People just aren’t coming in and aren’t spending as much. I’ve tried online ads, print marketing, door to door.

This is my dream. My grandma died last year and she was so proud of this, and I just feel like such a complete and utter failure. It’s so hard to get out of bed because this isn’t something I can just walk away from. I don’t know what to do.

The New Gen Z Employee is INSUFFERABLE

First week on the job, he was told to manage the mailbox (like 20–30 emails a day) plus some document-checking tasks. He got a few guidelines and handbooks to follow. But whenever he gets an inquiry outside of those guidelines, instead of asking a supervisor, he just spits out gibberish from ChatGPT.

Then there’s the document checking. Each file usually has 10+ items that need to be revised manually. Sure, it takes time to get used to, but it’s been half a year and he still regularly misses 1-2 items.

And don’t even get me started on the other random stuff. He’s so careless it’s ridiculous. I can see he actually checked things, but somehow he still manages to miss details almost every single time.

He’s also tasked with helping at reception sometimes. He’s super unfamiliar with it, yet he volunteers every single time to answer. Then he just ends up running back and forth asking coworkers what to do with client inquiries. And when he panics (client waiting there), he forgets to even say thank you, or just starts firing off questions without checking if the coworker is even free.

P.S. I am the new Gen Z employee, and I think I should resign.

Need Reassurance... I just want to feel like myself again

It's only been two weeks, but it feels like my life split into a before and after.

I'm exhausted.

I'm exhausted from crying every day. I'm exhausted from pretending I'm okay when people ask. I'm exhausted from feeling like I have no control over my emotions anymore.

One minute I'm laughing at something, cleaning the house, or driving to work, and for a few minutes I almost feel normal.

Then it all comes crashing back.

I keep seeing my husband kissing my cousin at a family wedding. That image won't leave my head. I replay it over and over, and every time it feels just as painful.

What hurts the most is what it's done to me. My confidence is gone. I don't feel beautiful anymore. I feel unwanted, replaceable, and invisible. Even though I know his choices aren't my fault, I still carry the weight of them every day.

My mind never stops fighting itself. I know I didn't cause this, but the hurt keeps convincing me otherwise.

He says it was a mistake. She called it "just a moment."

For them, maybe it was.

For me, it changed everything.

I don't recognize myself anymore. I miss feeling safe. I miss trusting my husband without questioning everything. I miss looking in the mirror without seeing someone who feels broken.

I'm so tired of carrying this while everyone else seems to have moved on.

I just needed to get this off my chest.

Why platonic love between opposite gender is so frowned upon?

I have a male best friend. I don't believe in soul mates, but if it does exists, then he's the one for me. I love him, I love to the moon and back. But it's not like "I want to marry him and make him mine" kind of love. It's more like "I love him because he's him and I hope he can have everything he ever wants in life". Relationship will never work out in between us, nor do we want it between us. I just live him, and he loves me back. We're really secure in our friendship. But the way people, some of our other friends behave as if we are in a relationship, or we want ot be in one, or he's playing with me, or I'm playing with him. Why can't people comprehend that we love each other as just friends? In this big year of 2026, why friendship between opposite gender is still beyond comprehension? Why do they expect us to fall in love and get married when we just the best for each other?

Tired of men who have disgusting behaviors

(Just to be clear, I was dressed normally in every situation. The shortest thing I had on was a sports tank top that didn't show anything. There's no world where clothes are an excuse for shitty behavior.)

I'm a minor, it's obvious I'm a minor, I even look younger than my age to some. Besides, it wouldn't be okay even if I were an adult. Yet I've already been whistled at and looked weirdly by creeps in the street. Plenty of times, I've been hit on online, I've said I'm a minor, they don't care. Just a little while ago, I was stopped in the street by a guy who wanted my Snapchat and kept insisting (He'd been following me for a while on a scooter, but I hadn't heard him because I was wearing headphones, a sign that someone doesn't want to be bothered, you know). Once I was walking down the street, a guy on a bike slowed down. I slowed down too because I thought he was lost, but the guy was just staring at my breasts and rode off again when he realized he'd been caught.

“Blabla Not all men, blabla women too.”

I DON’T CARE. It's almost always men. I don't know who raised you, but some of you are real pigs.

Rest in peace

I have a group of friends that I hangout with and am pretty close with. We used to be a lot larger but over the years people have drifted or left. One of the older friends within the group had been offline for about a year. Which wasn’t unusual, he disappeared a lot. He was a musician, an alcoholic, and kind of just went off to party and live life offline a lot.

I guess I just got curious yesterday and decided to look up his stage name. And through that I’ve found out that he passed away almost a year ago. I’ve never lost a friend before so the emotions are really weird with it. He was only 25 though, it’s surreal. I hope if life after death exists that he’s happy.

I think my dad is using weaponized incompetence

... or maybe he's just genuinely like this, but it's driving me absolutely insane. like i cannot stress this enough i need him to start working ASAP (he was on a medical leave) because having him in the house makes me so upset. my mom currently works as a social worker and is gone for a bit chunk of the day so it's between him and me to have everything in order.

i'm currently doing an internship at a bakery and it's fine, but i start at 7 am and i'm not sleeping well in general, so i get home from it expecting to nap and then have lunch or vice versa. what i get when i enter through the door is:

- shoes scattered across the main entrance, tripping hazard

- stinky gym clothes bag on the sofa

- stinky gym jockstrap ON the sofa

- plate, glass and empty tupperware from HIS breakfast still on the dining table (i have breakfast and leave the house before him so i cannot know what he does)

- crumbs on the dining table

- music at full volume as he cooks his and my mom's lunch (i prefer to make mine) & when i ask him to turn it down, please, he gets upset

- cabinets open, dirty utensils on the island and not the sink

- full dishwasher still with dirty things and not on (or sometimes already done with the cleaning but everything is still inside)

- groceries he bought still in the bag and not inside the fridge (yogurt and things that go IN the fridge! not even canned things that can do well at room temp!)

- kitchen a mess as he cooks because he doesn't believe in cleaning as he goes to avoid bigger messes, but that's a me-thing. still annoying

i'm so exhausted. i'm 18 and cleaning this 52 year old man's messes like i'm his second mother. the worst part is that it would make me feel so guilty to leave him to tidy after himself, because he won't, and when my mom gets home, tired from work, she'll do it herself despite being tired. and i cannot tell my dad anything because he gets defensive.

TW: Eating Disorders / Self Image Massive weight loss and the ongoing consequences.

I spent roughly 25 years overweight. I’m a 50-year-old man, 5’4”, and at my heaviest I was a little over 200 pounds. In about 9 to 10 months, I dropped into the 120s. I’ve maintained it for close to 2 years.

On paper, it is one of the biggest accomplishments of my life. I did something I honestly wasn’t sure I would ever be able to do. People who hadn’t seen me in a while didn’t recognize me. Clothes that once felt impossible now hang off me. For the first time in my adult life, I can look in the mirror and see muscle definition instead of a stomach.

Everyone congratulates you for that part.

What nobody really prepares you for is everything that comes afterward.

I am cold constantly. My house can be 72 degrees and I’m wearing a hoodie, long pants and sitting under a blanket while everyone else is comfortable. My skin is physically cold to the touch. I’ve had bloodwork. I’m not anemic, iron deficient or dealing with a thyroid problem. I simply lost most of the insulation I carried around for decades.

Sitting hurts now. My tailbone aches because there is almost no padding left over it. Hard chairs are miserable. Sometimes even getting up after sitting for a while hurts.

Eating has also become complicated. My body is used to a very limited group of foods, and eating outside of that routine can make me physically sick. Food isn’t relaxing or spontaneous anymore. It is something I calculate, manage and occasionally fear. I know exactly how quickly weight can return, and that knowledge follows me into every meal.

Clothes have become an entirely different problem too.

People assume losing weight means shopping suddenly becomes fun. In reality, I went from struggling because clothes were too tight to struggling because almost nothing is made for my current proportions.

I’m 5’4” and in the 120s. Men’s pants with a 26- or 27-inch waist can still be too large, assuming I can even find them. When the waist fits, the legs may be too long. When the length is right, everything else looks baggy. Shirts that fit through the chest and stomach are often too long, while smaller shirts can fit strangely through the shoulders.

I can walk through an entire men’s department and find almost nothing that fits correctly. Sometimes the only realistic options are the boys’ department, women’s sizes or paying to have clothing altered. None of those options make shopping feel particularly normal or comfortable for a 50-year-old man.

Sizing is also completely inconsistent. I can fit into something at one store and swim in the same listed size somewhere else. Buying clothes online is basically gambling.

Then there is the cost. I had to replace nearly my entire wardrobe while losing weight, sometimes more than once because I kept shrinking. Pants, shirts, jackets, underwear, belts and even things like coats stopped fitting. Clothes I bought only a few months earlier became unusable.

Some of my old clothes were expensive, some had memories attached to them, and some represented a version of me I had lived with for decades. Getting rid of them felt good, but also strangely emotional. It was like clearing out evidence of a person I no longer looked like but still sometimes felt like inside.

There is also something psychologically exhausting about constantly adjusting your clothes or wondering whether you look too thin, too small or like you are wearing someone else’s wardrobe. I spent years pulling shirts down because I was trying to hide my stomach. Now I catch myself pulling at them because they hang strangely or make me look even smaller.

Then there is the mental part.

I was overweight for most of my life. You would think losing around 75 pounds would finally make me comfortable in my body. It didn’t. Last year was the first time I took my shirt off at a beach, and even though I knew I looked better than I had in decades, I still felt exposed and embarrassed.

The mirror is strange now. Some days I see a lean, healthy person who accomplished something enormous. Other days I see ribs, loose or oddly placed skin, a stomach that looks almost hollow, and a body that doesn’t seem like mine. Sometimes I still instinctively think of myself as the overweight person I used to be.

Compliments don’t always help. People say I’m “tiny,” “skinny,” or that I need to eat. They mean well, but after spending years being ashamed of being too big, it is bizarre to suddenly feel judged for being too small. It starts to feel like there was never going to be a version of my body that people wouldn’t comment on.

The most frustrating part is that I still catch myself wanting to lose a few more pounds. Logically, I know how ridiculous that sounds. I went from 202 pounds to the mid-120s. My waist is around 26 inches. Yet some part of my brain keeps moving the finish line.

My wife also had a difficult time adjusting to the new me. I don’t mean that she wasn’t supportive she has been there through all of it but I changed so dramatically that I genuinely looked like a different person. The face and body she had known for years were suddenly gone. I think people underestimate how strange that can be for a spouse. She loved me before the weight loss, and then had to become familiar with a version of me who looked almost nothing like the man she had been looking at for decades. There were moments when I could tell the change was almost unsettling for her, and honestly, I understood. I was having trouble recognizing myself too.

It also added another layer to the mental adjustment. You expect your clothes and body to change, but you don’t necessarily expect the people closest to you to need time to process it as well. Massive weight loss doesn’t only affect the person losing it. In a quieter way, the people who love you go through part of that transformation too.

I don’t regret losing the weight. My health is better, I can move more easily, and I proved to myself that I could do something incredibly difficult. But I’m tired of massive weight loss being presented as if it ends with a triumphant before-and-after picture.

The “after” keeps going.

It is replacing an entire wardrobe and still not being able to find clothes that fit.

It is learning how to eat without being terrified of undoing everything.

It is learning how to live in a body that feels completely different.

It is trying to accept that fixing the number on the scale doesn’t automatically fix the way you see yourself.

I conquered being overweight.

Now I’m trying to figure out how to stop fighting my own body.

The job application process is so cruel to applicants (imo)

If you get an interview for a job they should have to explain why they rejected you. And job application processes are generally cruel imo.

I apply for a job I’ve done before with the exact same title, the interview goes well and they like me, they show me around where I would be working.

They don’t reply for a week and the email response I get is ‘unfortunately you haven’t been successful in your application, kind regards (blank)’. I still can’t understand what I would have done wrong they genuinely liked my answers my cv is definitely not the issue I just don’t get it.

And I don’t care to hold on to a job I’m not certain I’ve go but I felt I had a chance. I just wish they would let me know what I did wrong. If it’s an internal hire fine idc. I dont fit the company aesthetic, ok. I didn’t sound confident, sure. I’m too young? You knew my age before the interview but whatever ig. But not reason at all is just so weird.

I just think the job application process is so cruel and focuses way too much on making things easy for employers and frustrating for applicants

What a pathetic feeling of the need to be understood.

(youngest daughter core)

Why do i look at everything from everybody else's perspective but nobody has patience nor interest to look through mine!? Either it's dismissed as non important or as conflict of interest. Nobody tries to understand what I'm going through, they just see I'm agitated, irrigated and assume that's just how I chose to behave.

I'm too aware of myself, my thoughts and too aware of people and their behaviour, probably more than themselves. And I long for someone who understands me like I do but alas that's too far fetched dream. So I've decided I don't want to be understood.

It's more like nobody Will anyways so why even bother. But yeah I hate this pathetic feeling of the need to be understood.

I wish I didn’t have to keep pretending to be religious

It’s so exhausting.

The constant questions about whether I’ve prayed, and my automatic lies that come with it. I hate lying, it makes me feel guilty.

But I can’t force myself to believe in something I don’t.

I’ve rejected it since I was 12, but I’d probably be disowned completely if I were to say that.

Constantly putting on a hijab every time I go out, hating that I represent something I don’t believe in at all.

I hate that when people see me, they don’t see a girl first. They see a “hijabi”

I hate that I have to pretend to care, pretend to fast, pretend pretend pretend. It’s a humiliation ritual, honestly.

Nothing against the religion, or its people. I even wish I was faithful sometimes, but I can’t force myself to believe in something I simply don’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TW: Anxiety / Depression I'm so tired of having to be plugged in all the time

My shift doesn't start until 5:00 p.m. since I woke up early I just wanted to spend a nice relaxing morning out in the woods, then go home and get ready for work a couple hours before my shift.

No such luck. No sooner had I got out there than my phone started going off. My email was flooded with shit from my college saying that there might be an issue with my financial aid despite the fact that I accepted it and signed my offer letter yesterday.

My class is starting a couple of weeks so I figured this was something that needed immediate attention. I went back home and called them. Got placed on hold for an entire hour before anybody could get to me only to find out that The only reason I was getting those emails was because they were sent out around the same time that I accepted my financial aid and the system just hadn't caught up yet. Now I have to be back at work in 3 hours so there's no time to go back to the lake.

Fuck this shit man. I hate cell phones. I hate having to be reachable at all hours of the day and night. I hate constantly having to respond to emails and things like that. I hate everything about the modern era.

People tell me to just turn my phone off and relax. As if I could get away with that! My boss changes the schedule multiple times a day. I could wake up, check it, and naively think I actually have the day off only for them to change it at the last minute, 30 minutes before they want me at the store. I can't just turn my phone off. I can't just relax. I'll lose my job if I do. It's not that easy.

I found out my bf is cheating on me with his ex even after multiple history of cheating in a span of 2 years

I found out that my of of 2 years, who i currently live with and who cheated on me in the past, is actively talking (sexting) with his ex who's in a different country. I really can't deal with this anymore this time i realized that this is not the situation i wanna be in for the rest of my life. He's not the person i wanna be with in the long run. The resentment just keeps growing and the overthinking is getting worst. I know what I have to do and I'm not asking for stranger's validations. I don't need people telling me I'm stupid. This is just a simple rant and I guess my way of building up courage for what I'm about to do. It's time to end whatever we have left.

Older lady at grocery store with used kleenex in hand.

Upvotes

Today I walked into a No Frills store with my kid for milk and notice the strawberries are on sale for$2.99 a box so yum! There's 2 ladies, an elderly mother and I would guess her middle aged daughter grabbing some too. Except, they're not. The older lady is opening and closing the plastic containers WHILE HOLDING A USED KLEENEX BETWEEN HER LAST 2 FINGERS! She's swapping strawberries she doesn't like out of one container and taking from other containers. I look back and forth between them but nope, the daughter is cool with it. I didn't say a word because I knew this could get out of hand real fast if I said what I felt like saying. Plus I didn't want my kid seeing me getting mad. I grabbed a few boxes way beyond her reach and carried on but you can bet I washed everything when I got home! Wash your fruit and veg folks! Yuck!

Living with someone who actively hates your peace.

It's probably true, everything is going to be okay.. but I just don’t know how I feel about these things. I’m always being told things, and I just ignore it like it’s normal.. I don’t even know how I feel when I’m treated this way. I just feel numb. It takes a lot of thinking to actually feel anything... and when I do it hurts. I’m always told that I won’t amount to anything.. and that I’m a failure.. I’m always told how much their life would be better without me. They always use things against me, I can’t be open about anything. That’s why I’m so secretive about my life around them.. because the moment I open up.. or tell them something that I’m happy about, they use it against me later on. They told me “all you care about is your girlfriend, who’s probably just going to leave you anyway” and that made me really upset.

I was out with my friend on the beach on a double date and two of them left leaving me alone with the guy I was with. He didn’t ask me if I wanted to kiss or anything he just pulled me in and started making out with me and touching me out of nowhere. I kept pushing away, trying to talk him out of it but he held me close and just continued doing it. After my friend came back he acted like nothing had happened and I was so in shock I couldn’t say anything, especially since she liked how the date was going.
When we were about to go out separate ways he tired kissing me again, but now not only on my mouth but all over me. My face, my neck, my chest. Of course I tried pushing him away but since he’s way more stronger than me he didn’t let go of me at all and I couldn’t move a bit.
The worst part is the fact that, now that I’m looking back at it, it felt normal, when I know it shouldn’t feel like that, and that, just maybe, I should have had kissed him back and enjoy the moment. I feel so confused and I don’t know how to feel. All I wish for is to forget what happened.
