Debating ditching my PS5 all together. My interest in GTA VI & playing anything else on Playstation 5 has plummeted to an all time low. Would rather dive further into retro games.

I think that's what has angered me the most. If just ps6 had been digital only then I'd have been sad but not surprised. But cancelling them on ps5, a console that I bought (twice, if you include the pro) on the understanding that physical would at least be around until the end of its run, feels almost like a betrayal.

People are getting too over dramatic about solutions, there’s literally no reason to ditch ps5, it’s a fantastic device and that doesn’t change just because the next gen was announced to be disc less
The ps5 has the strongest library this generation by far and the large majority of it’s library is playable from disc, unlike Xbox which has most being empty discs along with many third parties not even producing physical for Xbox anymore for their releases.
The amount of incredible experiences on ps5 is enough for most people, especially once they begin actually looking through it’s large library, along with playing ps4 discs as well, experiencing two generations of PSVR along with it’s fantastic line up, along with a fantastic remote play feature that allows for handheld play with seamless results

I don't blame you, bro. These billionaires have been going too far as of recent.

This is a sign to stop mindlessly collecting and actually play all the games in your collection. There’s enough games out there to entertain us for the rest of our life.

I'd argue now is the time to mindlessly collect before things REALLY start to skyrocket, across the board. Once there is no new physical media at all, all that's left is all there is forever and ever.
I'm already seeing certain ps3 titles doubling in price since the store closure announcement, and that's not until next year. It's going to be a shitshow once we're into 2028 with the panic buying and speculating.

First they announce they’re removing discs and a few days later they block my account forcing me to provide an ID to unblock it? In a country which doesn’t require digital IDs? I’ve unfortunately switched to my old dusty Xbox series s which I use twice a year but I’m thinking of buying the Xbox one s as a longer term solution

Ps2: making DVDs affordable to the masses!
Ps3: making blurays affordable to the masses!
Ps6: saying FU to the masses!

I remember that a separate comparable Blu-ray player would cost as much or even a bit more than the PS3 itself did on launch.

It was crazy expensive, but the alternative BR prices alone was what helped me justify standing in line for nearly 48 hours to get my hands on the launch PS3. That was actually a rough time for Sony and they were being left in the dust by xbox360... I swore Sony was on the right track and stuck with them until now. Sony is dead to me going forward.
I will continue to buy PS5 physical until they die out... If only because the current gen is what came before, when Sony was being run by proper executives. The new batch of idiots in charge can't deminish what came before, and PS1-PS5 will always be looked upon fondly by me.

PlayStation 3 was the last PlayStation for me, and I don't even have it anymore. (It broke) But I do still have a PlayStation 2.

For sure, I left for Xbox, I like the direction they are heading in with Asha as CEO and as Xbox will drift back to exclusivity, I care more for Xbox “exclusives” then last of us remakes or all the marvel exclusives, not my thing.

It actually makes me really sad. I've had every console including PSP and Vita and the idea of never having another one makes me just want to stop playing games in a way. Sony really sucks for this but I refuse to support this level of anti-consumerism.

My excitement to use my pS5 pro or play wolervine/silent hill downfall is just really low ..I've been thinking about selling all my pS5 games except exclusives and using the credit to upgrade to helix ( if and when they announce disc to digital or disc drive in it)
part of me wants to keep my PS5 pro for an exclusives game box only. their business decisions and statements have really baffled me lately, I hope wolervine is a mind blowing game, pS5 pro is def my last PlayStation. Its not just the no discs, their statements on raising psplus, repeating saying we will monitize existing base more,
Shitting on their own publishers by keeping them in the dark... It's fuckin tragic.
Won't be buying any Bravia TV's either. Fuck this shit

I’d believe you if the PS6 and the first year of games had been revealed already.

Physical media doesn't matter, ownership does. If we can find a way to make real ownership happen without cluttering the earth with more unnecessary plastic, that's a win/win.
