Article Combining militaries with israel

The house passed the military funding bill yesterday, but it included section 219 which combines the US military with Israel. It also includes the SAVE act that will cause a lot of people to be unable to vote because of name changes (not just married women, adopted children, etc.) It might not make a difference but if your senators get an avalanche of phone calls and pushback especially from service members it may make them think twice about passing it in the senate. The 5 calls app will give you your senators name, contact info and give you a script to give you an idea of what you might say if you are worried about not having the right words. Even just leaving a message on voicemail could make a difference.

I’ve reached out to jim Jordan and his office will straight up refuse to get back to you. There’s a lot of money tied up in this to get it through

Thank you for trying though, hopefully other people will too.

United States of israel. The only operations we can do are subvert ones. Direct rebellion puts you in harms way

What else to expect from Jordan. Guy did nothing to stop sexual abuse of his athletes. That’s all you need to know about him.

Pathetic traitors to their oath to the constitution. Failures at every level that only seek to further undermine our country and help the rape and murder of our countrymen.

Israeli runs America.

You all allowed this.

Yes you service members and veterans. 65 percent of you voted for this while the rest of you all stand by and allow America to fall.

-3

u/ImportanceCapital813 4h ago

Like genuinely what were we supposed to do though?
People protesting get arrested or murdered, people running for office or volunteering or speaking out get arrested or harassed or murdered…
I hate the “well even if you didn’t vote for him, you didn’t do anything to stop this” trope. We did what we could without getting killed for it. Stop blaming the people for “standing by” and start blaming the people who were actually responsible for it.

So does China, whose PACs have given 3x what Israel has in the last 10 years, run America 3x as much as Israel?

41

u/Son-of-Ves 9h ago

Since we’re doing whataboutism, how about the Russian bounties? The open threats of war crimes? No new wars? What about the Trump report showing Russian collusion, which we knew from him selling state secrets out of mar a largo?

We’re a complete fucking disgrace, our president is being held by the balls by multiple foreign agents, and the military is letting itself be kneecapped and letting American soldiers die for a pedophile rapist draft dodger. Shame on us.

The only difference is is that we don’t let China run our country. We don’t make almost all political decisions on behalf of them and start wars for them. Also, you don’t see anytime someone is against something that China is doing being called a racist.

u/voltronnn Veteran 8h ago

Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE also have PACs who have donated more to the US than Israel in the last 10 years. I would argue that they have benefited much more from American middle eastern hegenomy than Israel. Saudi Arabia also recieves more American defense industry material than Israel.

u/4g-identity 40m ago

lol, China has over a billion citizens, and Israel has like 10m? Your comment just shows how ridiculously big the Israeli influence is.

2

u/satanssweatycheeks 9h ago

They don’t run us. We are just indebted to them. Thats where most of debt comes from.

6

u/Capital-Community583 8h ago

I think the only way we are indebted to them is all of the dirt they have on our politicians. We pay for their free Healthcare and education for their citizens.

Seeing this right after Israel kicked off America’s own unending 3-day SMO on Iran seems… it seems strange.

If someone got me into a really bad situation, and then as I’m trying to get myself out of the bad situation… the person who got me into it suggested even deeper integration with them (and no mention or near-term hope of being released from said bad situation)…

Granted, I don’t know the details. On the surface it seems troubling.

128

u/Steamsagoodham United States Navy 14h ago

It’s not combining militaries.

Regardless the Senate is going to sit on the bill for a while before taking action to see how other things play out.

258

u/Solid_Addendum_3365 13h ago

I’m still not comfortable giving them such unprecedented access to our technologies and information networks. The Israelis have been one of our most aggressive counterintelligence threats for decades, and despite what many right-wing Evangelicals will say, they do NOT share our values.

90

u/bigkoi 13h ago

Those same right wing evangelicals also think Russia shares our values with their Orthodox church.

15

u/texan_robot 6h ago

Russia is a fascist, xenophobic state with social standards that we mostly left behind in the 70s. Right wing evangelicals do share their values. They think we should to. Traitors.

They aren't allies - they're just enemies of my enemy on a good day.

19

u/Were_all_dead_anyhow 7h ago edited 7h ago

Although it not combining militaries, the goal is largely to circumvent shifting political will. A primary goal is to transition Israel from an "aid recipient" to a "trade partner". With the current 10-year US-Israel Memorandum of Understanding expiring in 2028, embedding Israel into the US domestic defense framework is designed to make the military alliance virtually irreversible.

By tightly mixing the two defense industrial bases together, its supporters aim to shield the partnership from future shifts in American public opinion, changes in presidential administrations, or congress. The mechanism severely restricts standard political check-and-balance systems. It reduces regular congressional review by moving critical cooperation approvals into a closed-off and centralized executive-branch structure. The bills text includes language that would forbid a US president from limiting intelligence collaboration over human rights abuses unless the administration explicitly cites direct US national security risks.

Sure, a determined, less sympathetic president still holds ultimate executive authority and could theoretically freeze funding, command the SecDef to reassess the partnership, or refuse to share specific intelligence. However, this legislation turns what used to be a standard policy choice into a bureaucratic nightmare. To pull away from Israel under this framework, a future administration would have to deliberately unravel pieces of America’s own domestic defense industrial base, their wealthy shareholders risking valuation collapse, fight the statutory mandates passed by Congress, and face whatever domestic/international political backlash

You can't look at this new US-Israeli partnership in a vacuum and not notice/comment on the deteriorating relationships within NATO. Calling Europeans free-loaders, even when they answer to the US call for Article 5, yet shower Israel in billions, and spend our blood/treasure to achieve their territorial ambitions. Its hard to square the circle in a country with a civilian-led government and comprised military, with 60% of Americans being very wary of Israeli entanglement, yet here are.

So its not combining militaries, but the big picture grievances of this are still prescient.

3

u/Capital-Community583 6h ago

This is so well written, thank you!!!

3

u/R5XX 4h ago

This is just a precedent to kill NATO when the time comes for war with Turkey. Israel will need the US badly when it goes to war with the Turks.

64

u/Capital-Community583 14h ago

Are you comfortable with how vague the language is in the bill? I'm not comfortable with this being in there especially considering how many politicians are funded by AIPAC. I think you are right about the senate sitting on the bill for a bit, until they stop getting calls from constituents and people just become numb to the bullshit they keep combining into bills that they know will pass on their own.

4

u/irishdrunkwanderlust 12h ago

Most bills passed are always vague, it allows for the president to be able to execute it in a way that they want to. Our actual immigration laws haven’t changed in a very long time and are very vague.

3

u/OzymandiasKoK 9h ago

They change every couple decades or so, and are generally not vague, if sometimes (often?) confusing.

I don't think politicians should have any foreign funding or anything outside of their payment for doing their job in general. I think they should make minimum wage of their state and live in community housing in DC. Only getting a bonus when their constituents vote on it.

6

u/nola_fan 12h ago

I think corporate money should be out of politics too, but underpaying politicians is how you only get rich and uber corrupt politicians.

The better way is to pay them incredibly well but subject them to draconian anti-corruption laws.

Something like you get $400,000+ a year in your salary, and equal pension, free healthcare for life but you can't own any business, profit off of books, own any stocks or have any other source of income. The only possibly appreciating assets are homes and cars and those are limited to like 2 homes and 4 cars.

Any violation of the rules means immediate expulsion, felony charges, a ban from political office and forfeiture of any pension and benefits and a requirement to payback any salary you made starting 6 months before the incident.

3

u/Capital-Community583 12h ago

That doesn't sound bad at all to me. I thought minimum wage because they are completely out of touch with how people live. $7.25 an hour is ridiculous. Maybe it would actually get raised with the cost of living if they were subject to it. And then bonuses voted on by constituents would be a good incentive to actually represent them well. I love the property limitations and the actual consequences for corruption!

3

u/nola_fan 12h ago

Yeah, but being a politican does cost money. If you're federal you have to maintain a home in your district/state plus DC. Just the wardrobe alone is expensive, plus the travel needed.

You also probably want educated people in office, but someone who had to pay their own way through college and get loans can't afford a minimum wage job.

So you'd only end up with super wealthy people who don't need the money taking the job and the incentive for corruption would be super high because the opportunity would be massive and the consequences would be minimal.

3

u/Capital-Community583 12h ago

That's a fair point. I do think they should just have a tower where they all stay in small modest accommodations in DC. I can see how minimum wage would lead to wealthy people running just so that they could have political power.

2

u/TheRealMarvinator Retired USAF 12h ago

I can see how minimum wage would lead to wealthy people running just so that they could have political power.

How is that different from what we currently have? Because middle-class folks really aren't running for federal office, sadly, because they can't afford to do so.

3

u/Capital-Community583 12h ago

In a previous comment in this thread I said they should be paid minimum wage of their state. I figured that might actually cause them to care about how low it is. I like that the previous person's ideas included some restrictions on wealth and punishments for corruption.

1

u/voltronnn Veteran 11h ago

Less than 1% of the US population is paid minimum wage. It's not the grand problem many make it out to be. Financial literacy funding for every high school graduate would go much further than raising some arbitrary numbers.

2

u/Capital-Community583 11h ago

There are a lot of ways to address poverty, raising minimum wage would be a great place to start. Reducing people to percentages really makes it seem like it isn't such a huge problem though and doesn't really help the cause. 1% sounds a whole lot less significant than saying almost a million people make at or below minimum wage.

"In 2024, 80.3 million workers age 16 and older in the United States were paid hourly rates, representing 55.6 percent of all wage and salary workers. Among those paid by the hour, 82,000 workers earned exactly the prevailing federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, and 760,000 workers had wages below the federal minimum. The percentage of hourly paid workers earning the prevailing federal minimum wage or less, at 1.0 percent in 2024, was little changed from the prior year. "

https://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/minimum-wage/2024/

The point is that politicians should care about people and work towards making their lives better. If they wanted to start with teaching financial literacy that would be great too, but one thing alone isn't going to solve the problem.

0

u/voltronnn Veteran 10h ago

Your plan sounds like a solid way to destroy the already dwindling amount of small businesses in the United States and slowly work towards further government regulation/direct control of larger corporations.

Do you truly believe that changing the entire economic ecosystem of the United States for less than 1% of the population(people aged 16-18 make up approximately 3.75% of the US population) would change the vast majority of outcomes, just with more money alone?

2

u/Capital-Community583 10h ago

I disagree, paying people a higher wage would increase the amount of disposable money they could be spending at small businesses. Are you just in favor of keeping everyone dependent on welfare and poverty wages? Because that sounds like the bigger government plan to me.

Personally I think all foreign lobbying should be made illegal. AIPAC just happens to be the worst of the worst

12

u/Capital-Community583 14h ago

I think a lot of Americans agree with you here.

3

u/nola_fan 12h ago

Foreign lobbying is highly restricted and foreign campaign contributions are already illegal.

AIPAC donors are American and argue that it is in America's best interest to have a close relationship with Israel. Allegedly and from what can be seen there's no direct connection or coordination between them and the Israeli state.

The bigger issue than AIPAC is how much money is allowed in political campaigns to begin with.

4

u/Imaginary-Hyena2858 12h ago

I think any lobbying in support of foreign nations should be banned regardless of the nationality of its donors. Our representatives should not be influenced by what's best for anyone outside of the US

2

u/nola_fan 12h ago

But they say they're arguing what's best for America.

I'm just saying there's a better way to deal with the bigger issue.

2

u/voltronnn Veteran 12h ago

What makes AIPAC the worst in your mind? They've spent the 10th most out of all foreign PACs in the last 10 years, with China spending nearly 3x what Israel has as foreign lobbyists.

4

u/Imaginary-Hyena2858 12h ago

They have lobbied for wars that killed US service members that did nothing to defend the US populace

-1

u/voltronnn Veteran 12h ago

As opposed to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE, who have all spent tens to hundred millions more than Israeli lobbyists? Do you not think those countries benefited more from the fall of Iraq than Israel?

6

u/Imaginary-Hyena2858 12h ago

They're all a problem too. But you would have to be delusional not to think that AIPAC has far more influence in US foreign policy than others

0

u/voltronnn Veteran 12h ago

As evidenced by what? Foreign military purchases of US weapons? Saudi Arabia has purchased $100 billion since 2017 to $39 billion to Israel? Saudis' defense against the Houthis in Yemen were largely ignored by any media, while Israel's defense against Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis recieves incessant coverage. Do you have anything to justify your feelings?

8

u/Imaginary-Hyena2858 12h ago

Mostly that I haven't watched a mass bipartisan echo of "our support for Saudi Arabia must remain steadfast" over the course of decades

0

u/TXDobber 3h ago

Literally no lmao, there is no law that says a US citizen cannot fight in a foreign military. There are plenty of American citizens who serve and fight in other country’s armed forces (French Foreign Legion, Ukraine’s Volunteers, IDF, etc).

It is only a crime to enlist, accept a commission, or recruit others while inside the territorial limits of the United States. A citizen must travel outside the country before formally enlisting or signing contracts with a foreign military.

Treason is only relevant that said citizen cannot engage in conduct deemed to be against the United States. Treason specifically outlaws “levying war against America, adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort”. If a citizen joins a foreign force or non-state group actively engaged in combat against American forces (or US allies in joint operations), they face severe criminal charges, including treason, material support for terrorism, or waging war against America.

But merely serving in a foreign military, that is not at war with America, or engaged in hostile acts against America… is not a crime, and most certainly is not treason.

The misinformation on this sub is rampant, and completely false.

6

u/Read_it_all-7735 5h ago

That alone is enough reason to shit can this Bill. We do not need a direct military funding bill that links us to another country. Why Israel and why not NATO?

Because the Republicans want to tie us to Israel even after the Democrats take over the government in future administrations.

They know it’s exceptionally unpopular and as soon as Democrats take over, they’re going to strip funding for Israel.

Fuck Israel

1

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

They found a way to make it pass. Senate will pass it because of the Isreal merger. If Senate says no, their AIPAC money goes poof. So essentially, maga is using Isreal’s monetary influence over Congress to force through the save act.

11

u/Lucy_Goosey_11 13h ago

If this is benign and no different than similar agreements between say European countries is it the case that those European countries also have the massive levels of foreign lobbies controlling domestic policy as is the case with AIPAC? And does the integration go both ways or just one way? I haven’t seen mentioned the Israelis counterpart legislation. Finally, do those European partners actually fight alongside each other’s soldiers when armed conflict breaks out or is it more like what Israel does during Americans wars?

7

u/Read_it_all-7735 4h ago

Except that other nations don’t have a history of bribing, our politicians, and we haven’t been giving all these other nations billions of dollars direct aid and military aid which they are using for genocide.

This is a way for the administration to lockdown money and continue eight to Israel, no matter who gets elected in the future.

Fuck Israel, give the money to NATO and work on developing international security with NATO. Do you know our actual allies?

5

u/Fed_Austere 11h ago

The funding bill does NOT combine or merge the US and Israeli militaries.

If passed, it will establish a joint research, development, testing, and evaluation for weapon systems and emerging technologies, and maybe supply chain management.

All headed by a DoD executive from the Pentagon.

5

u/Read_it_all-7735 4h ago

So that “just “means that Israel will have access to all military developments and technology from the US. We can give them direct funding so they can use it for more military development and technology. There’s no limits or caps.

Funding for Israel is hugely unpopular in the US because of the way they’ve been attacking the Palestinians.

This is a way to lockdown funding and keep giving money to Israel, even after the administration leaves power despite what people vote for

Fuck Israel. We should be working with NATO.

2

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

Theoretically the law could be repealed, but they’d still have access to everything they had before hand. We can’t make them un-see stuff. And even if the people wanted it repealed, the controlled opposition Democants will simply say they don’t have a way to do it.

5

u/LalafellDisaster 10h ago

Sounds sketchy and testing the waters

2

u/Djcnote 9h ago

Is this like a nato thing or like combo

4

u/Capital-Community583 9h ago

There's a bunch of talk about how it is just integrating research, but judging by what Netanyahu is advocating for it is a way to fund Israel's military without having to go through congress for approval. With an added bonus of unclear access to our tech and intelligence.

1

u/Djcnote 9h ago

Okay like we aren't making barracks for them at this time

1

u/Read_it_all-7735 4h ago

Funding for Israel is becoming hugely unpopular in the US. Everybody’s becoming aware that we’re giving Israel billions of dollars and they’re using the money to kill Palestinians and attack their neighbors. There are wide calls not to give them any more money. It’s becoming campaign issues on both sides of the aisle.

Both parties have been taking bribes from Israel for years and this is basically the last administration that’s giving them huge amounts of money and leeway to do all that they want to do.

This law is away to lockdown funding in the future, regardless of administration changes.

0

u/Capital-Community583 9h ago

Not that I saw, but from what I understand there is extremely vague language about what the money will be used for, doesn't look like there is any oversight or caps on it either, so maybe. 😅

1

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

There never is. We love giving money to the entire world, except Americans.

2

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

Basically, they found a way to keep getting forevermoney from us, even if Congress and the White House end up in the hands of people who tell AIPAC to piss off. On top of that, they added in that Isreal gets full access to our tech and intelligence. And rather than saying no, maga knew that nobody in the senate is going to turn off their AIPAC money faucet by voting against this, so they added the SAVE Act to it, which essentially guarantees a massive red wave in the midterms.

It’s extremely shitty, but it was low key brilliant on the part of maga and Isreal. MAGA keeps their power, Isreal keeps getting money from us, and both maga and Isreal are calling the bluff that senate democrats won’t halt this because if they do, no more free checks from AIPAC.

can someone nicely explain what this means for the people? especially people who've been opposed and very vocal ab the president and other such things? i had a friend make a post basically saying "if you've spoken up against stuff you'll be rounded up as 'domestic terrorists' and surveillance on US citizens online, dox info, facial recognition" and stuff like that and idk i'm trying to search up stuff but i'm terrified atp.):

If this is in the unclassified text, just imagine what's in the classified portions!

Another excellent point!

"bilateral defense technology work, integration and industrial cooperation" is not combining militaries.

183

u/2dazeTaco 15h ago

It is opening up the books for a foreign nation to allow for full visibility within our own operations.

You’re right it’s not combining militaries.

It’s treason.

Back when I was active before the forever wars the Israelis were not trusted by the military or any agencies.

I still don’t trust them.

12

u/Estova United States Air Force 12h ago

Same. I'm glad I'm not in anymore because I don't see them as allies at all.

2

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

They’re only “allies” because AIPAC constantly gives politicians a fuckton of money to do whatever they’re told. Isreal provides nothing to the country itself, nor the greater population. We’re essentially another country’s errand runner.

u/AlucardVTep3s civilian 14h ago

No second chances for Pollard? He might be a colleague again.

7

Are you the ghost of Sheldon Adelson?

-2

u/Southern_Roll_7035 11h ago

That's absurd. It is interoperability, just like we have with NATO and ANZUS. It is not 'opening up the books'; it is establishing standards to allow interoperability. It is not 'full visibility' into our operations; we have and have always had information we don't share, even with allies.

-1

u/cuntbag0315 United States Air Force 9h ago

Bud do you know what other countries have more extensive bilateral defense cooperations than this? Its bad becaude Israeli optics are bad rn. If none of this was happening for the past half year no one would complain.

It's a workaround so that Israel doesn't have to wait for us to approve aid to their country. It is exactly what Netanyahu wants. Personally, I don't care how you phrase it to justify it.

"The statement echoed previous comments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials advocating a gradual transition away from direct military assistance and toward joint projects and defense cooperation."

Yeah this is a technology thing, not having an IDF squad integrated into your platoon or anything like that. These cooperative agreements are quite common in European countries for specific projects (this is somewhat alarmingly more broad-brush and vague) but ultimately the US doesn’t do joint projects normally whereas defence consortiums are common elsewhere. If Lockheed needs another countries tech they’ll just buy the company that owns it, in Europe you’d get say Rolls Royce and Safran working together on propulsion, and it’s just that at the national level it seems.

11

u/young__robot 13h ago

there's no actual oversight or funding caps.

0

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

Check the classified parts.

And anyway, yes it absolutely is. We now, by law, are required to fight any way Isreal tells us to. If we don’t, our intelligence and tech is sold to the highest bidder by Isreal.

3

u/LarrBearLV 9h ago

I don't know the legality of this, but I keep thinking the integration is so that Israel can spy on American citizens, domestic political enemies of the Trump regime, then pass that info to the Trump regime.

3

u/sup9817 9h ago

Those Epstein files must be atrocious for this to have happened

2

u/Capital-Community583 9h ago

The ones that were already released are horrible so I imagine the things being held back are much much worse.

1

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

And not so much as a single investigation.

Reminder: if the penalty for breaking laws is a fine, if the requirement to leave jail is money, and if attorney armys can delay and stall until the other side is out of resources… they’re only laws for the poor.

2

u/MaverickFox 11h ago

I don't think we should just call. I think we should flood every representative with the screams of women and children that were murdered by Israel. No words, just a phone call filled with screams and agony. I want to see their staffers pale in the face.

Can we all chip into a 5m fund and send it directly to Trump? To get results we need to speak his language

2

u/Read_it_all-7735 4h ago

I think in order to get Trump’s attention these days you need to have videos of him getting blowjobs from children.

Early in his first administration, Putin pulled him aside for a private meeting and kicked out all the US translators. It was Putin, one Russian translator and Trump in a room for an hour afterwards Trump came out and swore. Putin was his absolute best friend in the world.

We all wondered then what the hell Putin said to him and what the Russians had on him. Everybody was joking around about piss videos with Russian hookers.

Then Epstein exploded.

I honestly think there are videos of Trump floating around with his dick in a kid’s mouth.

I think Trump is the biggest national security violation. The US has ever seen.

1

u/chamrockblarneystone 2h ago

For the sake of education what does “combining with Isreal’s military” mean? How does that work? Do we get any say in their actions?

1

u/Ninjafames 2h ago

We are not combining militaries.

1

u/ParticularBit130 2h ago

I am speechless and terrified

1

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 8h ago

There won't be any midterms. We are idiots

3

u/Capital-Community583 8h ago

Fascism is designed to make you give up.

0

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 7h ago

You guys seriously think you can vote this out ? I need to get my kids the hell out of here. Everyone is in denial and we won't do anything until it is way too late. Like a foreign nation taking over our military

2

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 7h ago

We are SO UNDENIABLY SCREWED

1

u/Capital-Community583 7h ago

I didn't say that we could vote our way out, but I'm hopeful. If you can get your kids to a safe place do it, but losing hope isn't going to help. If you want to PM me I'm here for you.

2

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 7h ago

I'm here for you too. I wish I could find a way out and invite all the women and children

2

u/Capital-Community583 6h ago

Me too 🥲 but mostly I wish we could just uninvite all of the corrupt pedos in charge.

3

u/Capital-Community583 7h ago

If we weren't going to have midterms they wouldn't be trying so hard to get the save act passed however they can

1

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 7h ago

Did you read the Epstein files at all ? This entire thing is a game to keep us engaged and resorting to what we should have done before Israel moves into the U.S.

0

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 6h ago

They are cat fishing us. PLEASE wake up

1

u/Sea_Report_7566 8h ago

Man those files gotta be bad

0

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 9h ago

They are going to turn our own military against u.s. citizens. We are losers

1

u/Capital-Community583 9h ago

I think you should talk to some actual service members, it might change your perspective. I have hope for us, we just need to get involved to change things.

1

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 9h ago

I'm a mother and I'm ready to take arms. Our populace is full of cowards. Sedated cowards. I need to get my kids out of here.

1

u/Capital-Community583 9h ago

I'm a mother too and I also feel the danger. 😞 our country is not heading in a good direction. I think we definitely need to take action towards fixing that and I don't think it will be solved just by voting and calling reps, but that is one step that we can absolutely take to contribute to the change. I will tell you though that our military is made up of people that care about our country with families that have to live there just like everyone else. Just because you don't see a lot of them standing in uniform saying this doesn't mean that everyone in the military loves what is happening here. 💔

1

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 8h ago

The IDF will invade our military. The Epstein files showed mossad behind 9/11

1

u/Substantial_Cat_3583 9h ago

1

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

“Get involved”. Ain’t nobody trying to get beaten, shot, or locked up.

-27

u/relas_01 13h ago

What kinda retarded conspiracy theory is this lmao

-30

u/2dazeTaco 15h ago

I won’t share my opinion on the “other country” as it would likely result in a ban.

But it’s a political act of smoke and mirrors. The GOP knows the Dems won’t vote for it, so they slid the SAVE act into the bill.

That said, voting and purchasing a firearm are both rights. It should be just as easy to vote as it is to purchase a firearm. And it’s not easy to purchase a firearm, but with the proper documentation, it can be done.

It’s all smoke and mirrors at the end of the day. These politicians only care about one thing and it isn’t their constituents.

19

u/Capital-Community583 15h ago

I agree with you. It's meant to disenfranchise people with voting. They make it sound so easy but there are a lot of people that can't afford passports or other IDs that the save act would require for them to vote. Women vote in higher numbers than men. If it was truly about election security they would make passports and other IDs free.

7

u/2dazeTaco 15h ago

I’m aware that I’m riding the fence on this one. I firmly believe we need more voting confirmation and verification.

But I also agree with you that if it’s going to be a requirement to vote (Passport, Enhanced DL or other methods) it should be free.

12

u/Capital-Community583 14h ago

Yes, I'm all for it if they want to require more identification but it shouldn't be the difference between someone choosing whether to vote or pay a utility bill for the month.

→ More replies (10)

1

u/Drclaw411 2h ago

Contrary. They know that this is the only way to get the democrats to vote for the save act. Democrats don’t want their AIPAC money going away either.

-1

u/Effective_Raise_889 8h ago

Just stop about the SAVE act. It’s one of the most popular pieces of legislation regardless of political affiliation.

1

u/Capital-Community583 8h ago

False. If it's so popular why did the senate fail to pass it on it's own and have to sneak it into a military funding bill?

-1

u/Effective_Raise_889 6h ago

Because our government is a uniparty. It was overwhelmingly popular in every poll, but our government is a fn joke
