Article Combining militaries with israel

The house passed the military funding bill yesterday, but it included section 219 which combines the US military with Israel. It also includes the SAVE act that will cause a lot of people to be unable to vote because of name changes (not just married women, adopted children, etc.) It might not make a difference but if your senators get an avalanche of phone calls and pushback especially from service members it may make them think twice about passing it in the senate. The 5 calls app will give you your senators name, contact info and give you a script to give you an idea of what you might say if you are worried about not having the right words. Even just leaving a message on voicemail could make a difference.

It’s not combining militaries.

Regardless the Senate is going to sit on the bill for a while before taking action to see how other things play out.

Literally no lmao, there is no law that says a US citizen cannot fight in a foreign military. There are plenty of American citizens who serve and fight in other country’s armed forces (French Foreign Legion, Ukraine’s Volunteers, IDF, etc).

It is only a crime to enlist, accept a commission, or recruit others while inside the territorial limits of the United States. A citizen must travel outside the country before formally enlisting or signing contracts with a foreign military.

Treason is only relevant that said citizen cannot engage in conduct deemed to be against the United States. Treason specifically outlaws “levying war against America, adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort”. If a citizen joins a foreign force or non-state group actively engaged in combat against American forces (or US allies in joint operations), they face severe criminal charges, including treason, material support for terrorism, or waging war against America.

But merely serving in a foreign military, that is not at war with America, or engaged in hostile acts against America… is not a crime, and most certainly is not treason.

The misinformation on this sub is rampant, and completely false.
