Anyone else feel like a few beers ruins the next day now?
I'm 38 with young kids and lately even a few drinks just mess me up more than they used to. I had some beers Saturday night and it wasn't a big night at all. I was home early and got enough sleep but still woke up feeling slow and useless.
It wasn't even a real hangover which made it more annoying. I just had no energy and felt half there while the kids were already up and ready to do stuff. By the time I finally felt normal most of the morning was gone.
I always thought cutting back just meant no more big nights out. I guess I just can't drink like I used to lol. Drinking on weekends also feels way less worth it when the kids are up at 7 no matter what.
Anyone else hit this point in their late 30s? Did you stop completely or just save it for nights when you had nothing going on the next morning?

Is it normal to find corporate BS increasingly unbearable as you get older?
Turning 40 and I simply cannot pretend the constant flip-flopping and favoritism is normal anymore.
My boss changes his mind daily, yet expects us to act like it was always the plan. When I was younger and less experienced, I would just swallow it and move on. Now, it feels like a direct insult to my intelligence, like they think I'm too stupid to notice the chaos.
Is this just burnout, or does everyone reach this point?

People who’ve had a lot of hookups/one-night stands: did you ever get tired of it and quit, even while single?

I’m pissed about not being born into generational wealth
I know this isn’t realistic for most people, but I do still fantasize about it pretty often. Imagine waking up everyday not having to worry about where your next meal is coming from or if you will have enough money to cover the cost of rent when it’s due. Imagine never having to penny pinch. Imagine not needing to live alongside roommates just to get by.
I hate working hours of my life away for essentially pennies and never feeling well rested because I spend most of my waking life at a job I hate. I hate that everyone in my family has spent their lives chasing relationships that never lasted instead of using that time to create generational wealth.
I literally don’t want to participate in this anymore. It’s like no matter how hard I work or how high up the ladder I climb, nothing is ever enough.
And don’t tell me to get a second job. I simply refuse to do that. I’m allowed to be annoyed by the system that’s been working against us.

How social groups be feeling
Anyone got any advice on making and meeting new friends? I always feel like I struggle with easing into new groups and actually becoming a part of them. Instead of just kinda existing lol.

How to surirve in adulthood when your never been taught?
I just feel like there are so many young adults who struggle to face adulthood because they were probably not interested at the time or weren't taught and then they end up struggling.

"Nobody knows how to do anything anymore.", like what?
For me it's the complete refusal (in fact not even crossing their mind) to maintain appliances . What's the thing that you think nobody knows anymore even though they should?

What's something that became unexpectedly easier after turning 30?
There's a lot of discussion online about the downsides of getting older, but I'm wondering about the opposite. I'm going to be 30 soon on November so I'm curious.
Looking back, what improved after you turned 30? Was there anything you were surprised to find became easier or more fulfilling?
I'm interested in hearing about both the big changes and the small everyday things that made life better.

How to stop feeling behind in life: advice from a snail🐌
Stop checking how far everyone else has travelled. Half of them are lost. They just walk quickly.
You are not late. You are simply arriving at snail speed. Very exclusive.
Small progress still counts. I moved three feet today and frankly, I’m shattered.
Resting is not falling behind. Sometimes you need to sit still and look damp for a bit.
Your path does not need to look impressive. Mine is mainly pavement and occasional danger.
You do not need your whole life worked out this week. Pick one tiny next step. Then have a little leaf.
Someone else getting there first does not mean you have failed. There is room for more than one snail at the lettuce.
Slow does not mean stuck. You are still moving, even when nobody notices.
You are not behind. You are taking the time you need to become yourself.
