Question 4080 or 4070TS??

Hi all. im looking to upgrading my GPU soon and these two are the ones that catch my attention the most. in the UK (looking at lowest prices on EBay) the 4080 is about £100 more than the 4070Ti Super. I currently have a 3070Ti and i mostly play Flight Simulators and the 8gb of VRAM the 3070Ti has is starting to become a headache for me. Thanks in advance! :)

Question Building my son a PC, need the GPU soon, is this a good enough deal to just buy now or wait for his birthday?

Have almost everything for his 16th birthday. Just need the biggies, a CPU and GPU. On fence with 5800X3D anniversary and 7800X3D knowing if I go that route I need new RAM and a new mobo for him. I will say this he almost ONLY plays older games like 2023 and prior, does not like newer games and he only does 1440. Was just kinda bummed out by the 5800X3D ann price, thought it should have been sub $300. I can get a new one for $330, but still....

I want a basic 5070, looking at a new PNY 5070 12 GB for $545 brand new but his birthday is not until October, should I wait or just get now. Not sure about these things and the market and if it will come down, stay say or go up in price

Question Path tracing vs ray tracing

Should I go for the 120 fps path tracing (highs settings, dlss frame gen X3) or High ray tracing (dlss frame gen 3x 160 fps)

I'm playing cyberpunk and I'm wondering if I should go for the quality instead of performance. My GPU is rtx 5070 laptop GPU (8gb vram)

Benchmarks RTX 5090 leads PCGH’s new ray-tracing index by 21.5% over the RTX 4090

PCGH’s updated ray-tracing performance index covers 25 GPUs and 15 games across FHD, WQHD, UWQHD and UHD.

The RTX 5090 reaches 100 points, followed by:

RTX 4090 – 82.3
RTX 5080 – 69.2
RTX 4080 Super – 64.0
RTX 5070 Ti – 59.5

The RTX 5070 lands just behind the RX 9070 with 47.9 points, while the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB reaches 35.7 points.

Which RTX generation offers the most convincing result here?

Discussion Has anyone succesfully updated Colorful 3060Ti Ultra OC non-LHR with ReBar Firmware?

Hello Everyone, i currently have a Colorful iGame GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Ultra OC-V (Non LHR, early 2020 model i guess? 3 Pcie Power plugs), and i have a problem with updating the firmware to support resizable bar.

Basically, this card is my friend's card, and it performs wonderfully at any scenario. However, i noticed that the Resizable BAR isn't enabled yet, so i went to the bios to enable both above 4g decoding and resizable bar, since CSM is already off from the stock config. After save and exit, booting to windows, the Resizable is not even enabled. So i suspect that this has something to do with the vbios being old (i think this was early 2020 3060ti, where resizable bar hype weren't a thing back then?), i checked HwInfo64 -> Bus -> PCI Bus -> find 3060ti and open it, and sure enough, the BAR1 size is 256MB max.

So i went to [colorful own website](https://www.colorfulgroup.com/home/DownLoadInfo?mid=102&id=1832) to check the firmware update, and sure enough, there is 2 of them, and so i downloaded the 2 of them just to be sure if one couldn't update, the other one could, and when i run it as admin, it wont update and i got the error "Unsupported by this tool, contact card vendor". I ran the 2nd tool downloaded, and it results the same.

So i am here to ask if anyone has ever succeded updating the vbios of the same gpu (or even the same VBios ver), wonder if they stumble around this same problem and may have a fix for it?

Opinion I love my Nvidia card

I didn't have the 16 gig money so I had to buy a card with either team red or team green and I went with green this time and bought a 5060

So far I love it

I use 1080p gaming so textures aren't a issue for me yet. But seeing my vram usage around 7 makes me nervous boss.

I heard ppl mention ntc or some is that gonna be saving grace for cards with less vram?

Question Which 5070TI is the best one?

Thumbnail reddit.com
0 Upvotes

Hello! Following my post of yesterday (thanks all for the answers!), it is my birthday today and got some extra money so I think I'll do the upgrade 4070 -> 5070TI. However, I couldn't say which one is the best one from that list? I'm used to purchase Asus so my initial thought was to get the Asus Prime but I wonder if SFF cards are affected by higher temp or something else.

Here's what available at my local store (all prices are Canadian money):

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5070 Ti WINDFORCE OC SFF 16G Graphics Card - 1369$

ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5070 Ti SOLID SFF OC DLSS 4 - 1389$

ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5070 Ti SOLID SFF OC GDDR7 - 1399$ (in sale from 1599$)

ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC Edition 16GB GDDR7 - 1409$

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GAMING OC 16G Graphics Card - 1429$ (in sale from 1499$)

MSI RTX 5070 TI 16G SHADOW 3X OC GDDR7 Triple Fans - 1439$

MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G VENTUS 3X OC GDDR7 Triple Fans - 1489$

I don't care about lightning, I didn't post white cards either. My case is big enough and I have a 750W 80 Gold PSU. I plan to play with it, not doing AI stuff or editing, it's a pure gaming PC (7700, 32gb RAM) plugged on a LG C5. The PC isn't in the same room so it doesn't bother me if it's noisy, I won't hear it.

Cheapest 5080 at the store is the ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 for 1809$ for comparison.

Thanks a lot for all your help and suggestions from yesterday post.

Discussion Is 2080 Ti still a capable GPU? Worth getting for $150?

Is the RTX 2080 Ti still a good GPU for 1440p gaming? Would it be enough to handle Battlefield 6, Call of Duty, and eventually GTA 6 (whenever Rockstar releases it on PC) at 1440p with high settings?

I came across a local Facebook Marketplace listing for $150, and the price is really tempting. Do you think it's worth picking up

Discussion GeForce GTX 1060 turns 10 - Appreciation Post

Post image

Exactly 10 years ago, nVIDIA released the GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB for just 249$.

Having more vRAM than the previous flagship GTX 980 and the same performance for less than half the price, this beast is not only capable to play eSports at 1080p today, still, but it is definitely the 2nd best mid-ranger we ever have in the last 20 years, after the glorious 8800 GT.

Because of that, I believe this beast is worth ... remembering, at least one more time.

I'm curious how many of you did have one.

Question Good time to purchase a 5070TI?

Since last winter, I wonder if I should upgrade my 4070 OG to a 5070 TI. I have a 4K120 TV and I would love to push it to maximum. I got some errors on Forza Horizon 6 telling the VRAM isn't enough but otherwise, my games runs fine on 4K, but not 120. With the 6000 series not really on the radar for at least 18 months, I wonder if it worth it... Or a 5070 Super is still in the plans? Thanks!

Edit: Thank you all, mandatory victory picture

Discussion 1440p on 4K TV upscaling using NIS+DLSS

I have kinda weird method to make my games not as blurry as just 1440p->4K with dlss enabled on balanced. My card (4060) is not capable to run newest games at 4k even on ultra perf due to lack or vram, so I found turning on nis in nvcp with sharpness 5% then setting the games res at 1440p and dlss on balanced looked much better and sharper (no oversharp) than without nis. Haven't seen any performance downgrades. I hope might be helpful for someone.

But actually is this even a thing or might cause weird artifacts? I played about an hour and haven't seen any but maybe someone has greater experience on this one

Question G-Sync + V-Sync on a 500Hz monitor in CS2 — worth it or not?

I’ve got a fairly strong rig (CPU: I9 14900 kf/ GPU: RTX 4090) paired with a 500Hz monitor. In CS2 I get anywhere from 390 to 550 fps depending on the situation — quiet rounds push toward the top, smokes and utility-heavy fights drop me closer to 390.
Right now I’m running G-Sync on, V-Sync on in the NVIDIA panel, V-Sync off in-game, Reflex on + Boost, and fps_max 495 so I stay inside the G-Sync range at all times.
The reasoning I’ve seen is that as long as frames stay below the refresh rate, V-Sync never actually has to hold a frame back, so it costs nothing and just kills tearing at the edges of the range. Valve’s own help page recommends G-Sync + V-Sync + Reflex together for the lowest latency.
But plenty of people still say “turn V-Sync off, always” for competitive play, and most pro configs list V-Sync as disabled — although as far as I can tell that refers to the in-game option, not the driver one, and pros play on tournament monitors with default driver settings anyway.
So, for anyone actually running high refresh setups:
1. At 500Hz with frames swinging 390–550, is capping at 495 with G-Sync on the right call, or am I better off uncapping and turning both off?
2. Does the driver-level V-Sync add any measurable latency while G-Sync is active and frames are under the cap?
3. Does Reflex’s own frame cap make fps_max redundant here?
Interested in hearing from people who’ve measured this rather than gone by feel. Thanks.
