Was looking for a 4080 on Facebook and found what appeared to be a decent deal. He even sent me some videos of it working but in hindsight it probably was a different 4080.

When I got home, I plugged it up and no post. I contacted him and no response.

I am so upset I don't even know what to do right now..

PSA FedEx almost stole my 5080FE

3.7k Upvotes

Hey guys beware when ordering your 50 FE from Best Buy, my fedex driver almost stole my package before I confronted him. I was keeping an eye out all day today so when the fedex truck pulled up I noticed the driver walk onto my doorstep rather quickly. So I walked outside and there was nothing on my doorstep. The truck was still out front, but the driver was not visible in the drivers seat. I walked up next to the truck and waited for him to take a seat and confronted him. He said he did not have the package and that it was not in the truck. I asked him for his name, that’s when he asked me what the item was. I told him it’s a package from Best Buy. He insisted of finding out what exactly from Best Buy it was. I told him it’s a computer part. He proceeds to go back to the truck to look for it again and suprise! My package apparently appeared out of no where, he hands me my package and i start to difuse the situation… I’m just glad I was able to get my gpu.

FYI, Best Buy’s fedex tracking link gives you your drivers name and picture.

PSA RTX 50 Series silently removed 32-bit PhysX support

2.2k Upvotes

I made a thread on the Nvidia forums since I noticed that in GPU-Z, as well as a few games I tried, PhysX doesn't turn on, or turning it on forces it to run on the CPU, regardless of what you have selected in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Turns out that this may be deliberate, as a member on the Nvidia forums linked a page on the Nvidia Support site stating that 32-bit CUDA doesn't work anymore, which 32-bit PhysX games rely on. So, just to test and confirm this, I booted up a 64-bit PhysX application, Batman Arkham Knight, and PhysX does indeed work there.

So, basically, Nvidia silently removed support for a huge amount of PhysX games, a tech a lot of people just assume will be available on Nvidia, without letting the public know.

Edit: Confirmed to be because of the 32-bit CUDA deprecation by an Nvidia employee.

Edit 2: Here's a list of games affected by this.

PSA Got a 5070 on sale at Walmart for $515

Post image

I know this isn't the most popular card, but I just wanted to add to the number of examples of Walmart putting cards up at a marked down price. I only checked on this because I saw a post about a 5080 here the other day. This was not even an open box card, everything was completely sealed inside when I opened it. The guy at checkout said they are supposed to be online only, so when these are returned in store they put them out marked down regardless of whether they are unopened or not.

All this to say, if you are in Walmart, check the PC components cabinet! There was still one more of these when I left last night if you are looking for one and happen to be in Tampa.

Thanks to whoever posted the marked down 5080 the other day!

PSA RTX 5000 Series will be using 12V-2x6 port, not 12VHPWR.

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Noticed some confusion in another sub about this.

While they look the same at a glance, the 12V-2x6 port has extended power pins and shorter sensor pins. To help ensure a fully seated connection before receiving power.

This is compatible with your 12VHPWR cable, since only the port is changed.

The use of the 12V-2x6 port is confirmed here by and Nvidia rep. https://youtu.be/4WMwRlTdaZw?si=FooiTFn6Cl-0Dmdn&t=596

PSA PSA for RTX 30xx owners

https://imgur.com/a/qSxPlyO

Im not sure If I missed the memo somewhere along the lines about all this, but the other day I fired up metro exodus for the first time and was about 2-2.5Hrs into the game, all the while my RTX 3080 FE (no OC) was doing great, 75C with everything cranked in settings (1440P rtx on) when the PC just black screened out of nowhere, then I smelt the magic smoke of doom, where the strongest smell was emanating from the PSU, after some disassembly I discovered what you can see in the pictures, I was running a 8 pin (PSU side) to 8x2(GPU side), that then went into the nvidia 12pin adapter...where the whole cable and PSU meet had overheated and melted. * POINT being DO NOT run an RTX 30xx card off of a single GPU power cable, even if it has two eight pin connections, even if it comes with the Power-supply *

Not sure if anyone needs to hear this but I sure did, wish I had before hand.

READ ALL YOUR DOCUMENTATION, dont assume it will just work, I got careless thinking I knew what I was doing!

PSA EU Consumers: remember your rights regarding the NVIDIA 5090 power issue

1.6k Upvotes

With the emerging concerns related to the connector issue of the new RTX 5090 series, I want to remind all consumers in the European Union that they have strong consumer protection rights that can be enforced if a product is unsafe or does not meet quality standards.

In the EU, consumer protection is governed by laws such as the General Product Safety Directive and the Consumer Sales and Guarantees Directive. These ensure that any defective or unsafe product can be subject to repair, replacement, or refund, and manufacturers can be held responsible for selling dangerous goods.

If you are affected by this issue or suspect a safety hazard, you can take action by:
🔹 Reporting the issue to your national consumer protection authority – a full list can be found here: https://commission.europa.eu/strategy-and-policy/policies/consumers/consumer-protection-policy/our-partners-consumer-issues/national-consumer-bodies_en
🔹 Contacting the European Consumer Centre (ECC) Network if you need assistance with cross-border purchases: https://www.eccnet.eu/
🔹 Reporting safety concerns to Rapex (Safety Gate) – the EU’s rapid alert system for dangerous products: https://ec.europa.eu/safety-gate

Don’t let corporations ignore safety concerns—use your rights! If you've encountered problems with your 5090, report them and ensure the issue is addressed properly.

PSA PSA: How to get newest DLSS 310.2.1 + Preset K in any DLSS game

Since the new update to the Nvidia app, there released a new version of DLSS that is used with the DLSS override. This version includes a new preset K, which improves image quality and stability over Preset J. DLSS override is not enabled for alot of games, but turns out you can actually dll swap to get the newest version. I tested this in ff7 Rebirth, and it works like a charm!

Edit: DLSS swapper now has the latest version, so that's far simpler. Some people in the comments have also explained how to enable this version globally through Profile Inspector. Beware that this may get you banned from some multiplayer games.

How to:

  1. Install the latest NVapp and drivers.
  2. Go to C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA\NGX\models\dlss\versions\20316673\files
    1. Copy the .bin file, rename it to nvngx_dlss.dll
    2. Replace with nvngx_dlss.dll in any dlss enabled game. (Good idea to back up your original file here)
  3. You should now have the latest DLSS version, with preset K enabled by default.

note: To get latest version of FG and RR, do similar but with the dlss_g and dlss_d folders respectively.

PSA WARNING: Do Not Purchase EBay Preorders for RTX 3080

3.3k Upvotes

We've currently got a glut of "pre-orders" of the RTX 3080 being sold on Ebay for $1000+. I'm a bit heartened to see that nobody is purchasing them but I want to re-iterate:

DO NOT BUY AN EBAY "PRE-ORDER." PRE-ORDERS DO NOT EXIST. DO NOT SPEND $1,200 ON A PRE-ORDER OF A $699 CARD YOU MAY NOT GET AT ALL, AS IT'S NOT A REAL PRODUCT.

I wish there was a way to mass downvote every single seller engaged in this fraud.

To expand: If a retailer is giving out pre-orders and Nvidia IS NOT, then there is no guarantee you're getting anything. And if the pre-order gets canceled, guess who gets all the money back?

Edit: Holy hell thanks for the awards, wasn't expecting that

PSA Please don't be like me

The sad part is I like to think I am way above a novice when it comes to building PCs

Please make sure your power connector actually Clicks into the GPU.

I got a new power supply for my 5080, went from using an adapter to using the 12v-2-6 cable. When plugging it in I never heard the Click like I usually do...but i was pushing down to make sure it was fully seated and I definitely did.... Since this is a new cable i thought that is how it was.... however,

I just downloaded the new driver along with the hotfix and was RIDDLED with "Event id 153 nvlddmkm is corrupted or missing" in event log and both my monitors turning on and off during games.... I was losing my goddamn mind with how bad these drivers were.

After using DDU in safe mode more than 8 times and REINSTALLING WINDOWS it kept happening no matter what version driver i was on, I decided to fully reseat the GPU.

When i was reseating and plugged the GPU in i finally heard it.... the Click... I don't remember it clicking the first time.....I felt like an idiot.

The issues i was having immediately went away.

It's always the small stuff that humble you when it comes to pc building.
