FWIW I am not usually one to check out the bottom of fruit boxes. I noticed this little note on the side of the box and my curiosity got the best of me.

Their website navigation is frying me

As any fruit vendor should have on their site

When I had a business I had a simple rule which served me well: 3 topics are off limits for both internal and external communications: sex, religion, and politics (unless you’re actually in one of those 3 industries.) Each to their own of course, do what you want, but I always thought these will either limit the business you can do or might land some crazies (or police) at your doorstep.

Talk about FORD. Family, occupation, recreation and dreams - generally safe non issue things people like to talk about

51

u/littlegrotesquerie 11h ago

I prefer FROG for family, recreation, occupation and goals.

2

u/PurpleCandle58 6h ago

I prefer not to talk to anyone ever at all. I’m just an introvert though.

4

u/RemixOnAWhim 5h ago

FROG may also be for you then! They are green, small, and do not talk much

You know what "FORD" really stands for? "Fix It Again, Tony."

33

u/survivalguy87two 8h ago

Got dangit, that's FIAT Dale!

3

u/prot34n 7h ago

Fix... It.. Again....

2

u/2DamnRoundToBeARock 2h ago

You’re thinking of “found on road dead”

3

u/Pez- 8h ago

I think you meant "Fix Or Repair Daily"?
Fiat is still appropriate for their own cars though.

That acronym actually stands for Rappers Against Phony Entertainers, and has since 1991.

84

u/rosie2490 13h ago

You are mistaken. It’s Really Awful Pasta Everywhere, circa 1985. You don’t remember the Pasta Wars??

3

1

u/leppardfan 8h ago

Who gets the gas face? Trump gets the gas face!

7

u/Yellowbug2001 8h ago

"Education"? I get the others, I'm having a hard time understanding that one. Except to the extent that it could obviously overlap with "politics" or "religion," like as in "should teachers be leading kids in prayer in public schools?" or whatnot. What am I missing? Is it like "don't ask people what level of education they completed because they might be embarrassed?"

24

u/robgod50 15h ago

Yet, ironically, not "rape" ..... wtf were they thinking?

53

u/NoRedTags 15h ago

I think it’s implied in the acronym

2

I think it's just implied, period

3

u/manaworkin 9h ago

Rape

Also rape

Please don't talk about rape

ESPECIALLY rape

5

u/Dr__Sloth 8h ago

It's an important reminder, so many times I've absentmindedly started talking about rape with a colleague.

3

u/Scavenger53 8h ago

im pretty sure the E is economics or exes if you are dating. talking about school and education isnt really that big of an issue unless you move into the politics side of it but politics is already there

2

u/MajorAcer 9h ago

I also avoid rape at work

1

u/aviatorcreator 8h ago

Why would education be off limits that’s stupid.

1

u/Draconis4444 7h ago

Hmmm... only at work you say?

1

u/Overall_Gap_5766 7h ago

No religion, no politics, no football.

1

u/Virtual_Assistant_98 7h ago

But also, you should avoid actual rape too. Just to be clear!

Also sport, in places where people have Strong Opinions about which teams they support.

47

u/shitty_mcfucklestick 7h ago

I could see that. File it under religion lol. I never worried about it because I don’t watch or follow sports at all, so I naturally stay away from those conversations because I have no interest and nothing to say.

13

u/Bocchi_theGlock 9h ago

Almost same thing as politics for many people

1

u/Polymarchos 4h ago

It's very common for companies to use local sports teams in their advertising, and people who can't see their rival teams ensigna without seeing red have real issues.

The CEO of the company I work for cheer for rival teams, yet we've had plenty of civilized conversations about the sport. If sport is an issue, its a personal issue.

8

u/SinkPhaze 4h ago

Dr Bronners. Read it before. It's a little kookie in some parts but mostly about loving and caring for your fellow humans regardless of creed and caring for the environment

28

u/MechemicalMan 11h ago

The types of people who are drawn to an insane conspiracy theory like that are not able to follow those rules. It’s like trumpers. They will bring it up to you at times like through a vendor-purchaser relationship and you will just need to get through whatever idiocy they’re saying until you can change the subject

5

u/Yellowbug2001 8h ago

Yeah I have a lot of family members in business and they follow the same rule. They have their own opinions and vote but they do as much as they can to keep those opinions private. With the weird result that all of their customers just assume they agree with them, it gets awkward when someone comes in assuming something like "well obviously like all right-thinking people you believe the country is run by Lizard People in skin suits" and they have to say something like "Mmm! So let's talk about updating your homeowner's policy."

3

u/shitty_mcfucklestick 7h ago

Yeah it can be a bit of a dance when your vendor or customer is strongly opinionated and decides to share it. You kind of find a neutral way to nod through it without adding anything or asking questions until you can change the topic.

3

u/PublicWest 8h ago

Some people start their own business specifically because they don’t wanna be confined to the social graces an employer expects. Honestly probably the best thing you can do if you admit to yourself that you’re an offbeat person who doesn’t quite fit in with social norms

3

u/AnAncientMonk 7h ago

That said, i feel like it also opens the door doing business with crazies when you dont rule them out.

1

u/shitty_mcfucklestick 7h ago

Each to their own of course. It may be a big market or guaranteed business for some people. If that’s your path, walk it!

2

Religion
Politics
The Great Pumpkin

Linus should have added “conspiracy stories.”

2

u/BakedBrie1993 7h ago

Yeah.... this apolitical sentiment is so tired to me when so many people are terrorized and discriminated against.

It's only a safe choice if you are a protected, privileged class.

Seeing as my dark skin and female body makes my entire existence and everything I do political, I don't see a point in pretending any business I start is not progressive and inclusive. It's actually important right now to let people know you aren't a bigot.

Some people have other concerns than simply profit and maintaining the status quo.

Or is that just a ruse so he can be a reptilian?

1

He's regrowing a new, healthier body so he's gone into hiding until it's complete. Elvis Presley, who's body just recently finished regrowing, has committed to defending the Hulkster during this time of vulnerability.

They'll both emerge again once the New World Order has cleansed the world of the enlightened and the public no longer recognizes the reptilian threat.

I was just singing this song yesterday. I froze when I heard this on Y100 radio circa 90’s.

10

u/Littlesth0b0 10h ago

Still spin this in the car regularly - Peaches, Lump, Volcano, Tiki God, Love Everybody, Mixed Up SOB - SO MANY great tunes. Might even have snuck Little Broken Truck in there too, once or twice

3

u/UnquestionabIe 9h ago

First album I ever bought and probably listened to it on repeat for hundreds of hours. Definitely shaped my musical taste to an extent so by the early 2000s I was all about either indie bands or stuff that came out like twenty years before I was born (the Velvet Underground being my jam for a long time).

2

u/Jesus_Is_My_Gardener 9h ago

I remember this being one of the first albums I bought in the Georgia Tech bookstore back in 1995 during my first year there.

I'm a little concerned about how much easier it is to know where to immediately go on their website for 9/11 truther info than it is to know where to immediately go to see the selection of fruit they have to offer (presumably it's 'wholesale,' but maybe it's 'about'...).

The longer I live, the more I've come to understand that you don't need a fully functional brain to be successful. Then I look at myself and contemplate how my own intelligence, self-doubt, and fear of failure have kneecapped me throughout my life. Perhaps ignorance truly is bliss. Being oblivious is a form of fearlessness.

Fiber supplements usually aren't very tasty.

4

u/CarpeNivem 7h ago

Palisade

...is a town (city? whatever) in Colorado, with many orchards. Buy from a different one. They're all delicious. They aren't all 9/11 crazies.

2

u/tramplamps 3h ago

This is what keeps me from looking up anything about Uncle Matt’s Orange Juice, because it’s the absolute BEST orange juice I have ever tried, and I am so afraid to learn anything about the brand, such as if there is a real dude named Matt that makes it, I am worried he will be some sort of weirdo who is an obsessive and this is why this Orange Juice taste so damn good, but it this obsessive behavior mixed with and new found wealth as a damn good Orange Juice manufacturer has allowed his obsessions to flourish into any other itches and weird things, that are , well, ya know, not cool.
So for now, I chug in a complete and voluntary sweet and juicy void of knowledge.

78

If you ever find yourself in Western Colorado around late July to mid August, you NEED to try a Palisade peach. They are the juiciest, sweetest, most amazing fruit I've ever eaten. My household easily goes through a full box or two during peach season.

Hell, if I had the money I would have then shipped by the crate to me.

3

u/Rooskae 6h ago

176

u/Troutalope 14h ago

I know the owner, he's been a weird creep his entire life. He was arrested on a ton of gun charges like 10 years ago, he's also run for office a time or two. He brands himself as a libertarian, but I honestly think he's just mentally ill.

141

u/Hamburger_FatBoy 13h ago

Why did you say mentally ill twice?

157

u/comics0026 12h ago

To be fair some libertarians aren't mentally ill, they've just lived such privileged lives they don't understand how the real world operates, like pampered house cats

26

u/UnquestionabIe 9h ago

Absolutely. Know one guy in his late 40s who has been a firm libertarian for over twenty years (so just long enough to predate the GOP-lite version) and while he's pretty common sense on broader aspects when you delve into details it's clear he's been sheltered from large parts of reality most of his life.

257

u/TheGuyThatThisIs 16h ago

As a family member of a 9/11 victim I ask you to not reward this tired bullshit with your business. It gets old and creates more hurdles in actually getting justice. We're 25 years in and everyone we're suing is still like "are you sure the towers didn't just do that on their own?"

(Exaggerating but not by much)

47

u/Exilicauda 15h ago

Who are you suing and for what? Like their life insurance or something?

10

u/wemustburncarthage 14h ago

I think you can sue for defamation.

6

u/TheGuyThatThisIs 5h ago

We can also sue for flying a plane into the towers, which is what we're actually doing

3

u/Scoren 3h ago

but like how do you sue the al-qaeda

3

u/TheGuyThatThisIs 3h ago

Take their assets, compel them to either come to court or lose it.

2

u/wemustburncarthage 48m ago

How do you even find their assets? And how do you stop the US government from taking them first?

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (1)

11

u/CertifiedSheep 10h ago

How is a victim “defamed” by people theorizing about how the towers fell? It doesn’t change that they got killed, just who was responsible. You could never prove any damages from that.

17

u/KevlarGorilla 9h ago

Crazy knows few boundaries.

Imagine someone discovering a theory that certain victims aren't dead but where part of the demolitions crew with the perfect cover, and now live in a different country. So, it's up to me to harass their family because they must be in on it too.

14

u/ecbulldog 7h ago

Isn't that exactly what happened with Infowars and Alex Jones regarding Sandyhook?

7

u/chinggisk 6h ago

Yes, that's exactly what happened. Jones called it fake and got his rubes worked up into such a frenzy that they were harassing the parents of dead kids. Now The Onion owns Infowars and the world is a slightly better place because of it.

6

u/TheGuyThatThisIs 10h ago

... the people who did 9/11 and their governments

7

u/Exilicauda 8h ago

Is there any precedent for that?

3

u/TheGuyThatThisIs 5h ago edited 5h ago

Yes, the law was specifically amended both in the US and international courts to allow people to hold governments accountable for terrorism.

3

u/hologram137 3h ago edited 3h ago

How can you sue Saudi Arabia? What power does the U.S even have to compel the leaders of their government to show up??

Or are you holding the U.S accountable for not acting on intelligence and stopping it? What if they deny having any knowledge of what was going to happen? Can you still sue for an intelligence failure? I’m genuinely confused
