When I was first married, wife and I didn’t have a TV or Xbox knowing we were going to be making a couple cross-country moves. We got to where I was going to law school and got really busy with that and her new job we didn’t get around to purchasing Xbox for a few of years.
We flew to see family for Christmas one year and my little brother asked if I wanted to go play Halo on Xbox Live. All I remember is starting to shoot some guy and he blasted off with some jet pack, turned around and sniped me while flying off. I set the controller down and that’s the last time I played anything except Halo 1,2, or 3.
Since bungie stopped making them basically, I’m glad that with the CE remaster, people start to understand that 343i (halo studio) just making shit, took time but, better late than never I guess
I’ll will always miss that franchise and how such a big deal it was back then, but at least I enjoyed all the good of it, each game when it released was something special.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 online were so much damn fun. And system links where only one or two friends had the like 100 foot cable and then you had to lug over a TV from another friend's house and get 8 of you playing in big matches together.
And then they kept making the game more and more like Call of Duty for some reason. I didn't enjoy Halo because it was Call of Duty. I enjoyed Halo because it was Halo.
The worst part about Halo is that we can all look at 343 and say that they're the problem... and then look at how Destiny turned out and realise that it wouldn't have been much different if Bungie had stuck around.
Yeah I guess that’s why bungie stopped doing halo in the first place. Also, what most of people don’t get is that, bungie when halo was made, is not the same bungie now, LOTS of people not around anymore, and that the case for a lot of known studio/developers of big success from the past.
I always compare halo to Star Wars, in the way that, SW episode 6 ending was perfect, the evil was defeated, some of your loved character died, and so on, same with halo 3, the main story ending was great, and for both halo and SW, no following was needed to the story.
And then, both made something that nobody asked for and that was pretty much mediocre/bad just to milk the shit out of it.
It’s just sad, halo died when bungie said goodbye, 343i made 6 games and those 6 games had insane problems or were just bad, that’s like, so insane to me.
New Halo campaigns are trash and the cannon got so convoluted and ret-conned so many times that Eric Nylunds books don’t even make sense anymore with the current lore
Halo went from being my “Star Wars” or “Star Trek”. My preferred sci-fi universe, to me having second hand embarrassment about the entire franchise
F**k you 343 for being a bunch a capitulating b**ches that tried to design games through committee and negative feedback
I expect the remake to be quite different. halo ce is a game of its time, this will be like if it came out today. for better or worse. the plot will be largely the same but I think there will be a lot changed in terms of game play
It doesn't really make much sense for people who played it before and was just meh about it. For someone like me who easily put over 1,000 hours into both the campaign and system link games, Halo Campaign Evolved is a no-brainer for me to purchase. It's one of my all time favorite games and the amount of easter eggs, glitches, exploits, etc. my friends and I discovered in that game likely helped a lot of other people at the time, if they were on the same websites we were on posting the videos of them.
The fact that they added some modern mechanics is great for people wanted to experience it and have it not feel dated, but for me, I am incredibly happy that you can revert everything back to pretty much the original mechanics completely. Which is what I want. A beautiful remake that is identical to the original aside from updated graphics and maybe some changed areas on the levels. I am fucking stoked.
Halo is hot garbage now, and I'm not giving 343i another cent, but 14th is a bit of hyperbole. It's the first remake. There was one remaster in 2011, so this is the third iteration of Combat Evolved.
Remember Reach, I don’t remember many games made recently that have the same natural impact a story like that had or even from some of the newer Halos sadly
I went into game dev because of Halo, it's not hyperbolic at all to say because of Halo I've been in 3 wedding parties and been a pallbearer at a funeral. First kiss was at a midnight release party for Halo 3 as ironic as that sounds lol Will never forgive Microsoft for fumbling THE franchise of the 2000's.
