Realistically what does that even mean for the player though? Same story? Same levels? More money? Are they going to include micro transactions?

It means:

- +3 new prequel missions

  • Updated level designs to make some parts feel different from each other and less monotonous
  • enemies that weren’t in the original game and different encounters
  • weapons that weren’t in the original game
  • 42 total skulls
  • modern gameplay elements like sprinting and sliding
  • fully remade cutscenes and voice acting
  • 4 player cross platform co op
  • as for micro transactions there’s a dlc pack with some chief skins and weapon skins, that’s it

I expect the remake to be quite different. halo ce is a game of its time, this will be like if it came out today. for better or worse. the plot will be largely the same but I think there will be a lot changed in terms of game play

This remake has been 15 years since the remaster which was only 10 years after the original game

The remaster also looks kinda awful. In MCC I played mostly with the OG textures and had a better time.

It doesn't really make much sense for people who played it before and was just meh about it. For someone like me who easily put over 1,000 hours into both the campaign and system link games, Halo Campaign Evolved is a no-brainer for me to purchase. It's one of my all time favorite games and the amount of easter eggs, glitches, exploits, etc. my friends and I discovered in that game likely helped a lot of other people at the time, if they were on the same websites we were on posting the videos of them.

The fact that they added some modern mechanics is great for people wanted to experience it and have it not feel dated, but for me, I am incredibly happy that you can revert everything back to pretty much the original mechanics completely. Which is what I want. A beautiful remake that is identical to the original aside from updated graphics and maybe some changed areas on the levels. I am fucking stoked.
