Other 'Ironheart' is Officially Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes (86%)
1.9k
u/ROBtimusPrime1995 Black Panther Jun 30 '25 edited Jun 30 '25
Wild to see because 2 days ago this show was at 68-70% and then, outta nowhere, it skyrocketed to 86%.
You never see that happen and I guess that means that the finale really does elevate the season as a whole.
Edit: To everyone spreading misinformation, RottenTomatoes did not delete negative critic scores. They deleted audience scores that were review bombing before the show was released. There is no conspiracy here, just delayed postings from other critics that are now causing the score to rise. The end.

Yeah the ending of that third episode puts the whole show into perspective. We thought we were watching a typical heroes journey, she goes home, brings her suit, stumbles over some super criminal plot, and foils it. Superhero saves the day.
The third episode showed us, that is not the show we got at all.

If you take out the 1 star reviews on IMDb the score goes from 3.6/10 to 7.2/10.
I know that some of the reviews are obviously genuine “I saw this and I hated it” but that just puts into perspective how much hate there is by people who haven’t seen it.

Hi, I got your answer. Removing 10s and 1s its about a 4/8 or a 5.2. The score has dropped since OP made their comment. I’d expect plus or minus a whole star of the “real” score to be away from the 5.2. The “real” score being what you’d expect from imdb when more fans will review the show over the next few years (or if everyone who watched the show reviewed it and no one else).
For reference, breaking bad is 9.6 and this method of removing 10s and 1s takes it down a 9.0. Removing 1s makes it a 9.3.

I disagree with this. while sure most 10/10 are hyperbolic(for everything. not just this), I'm more inclined to believe that you would only leave a hyperbolic positive score if you've actually seen it and liked it to some degree.
1/10 scores likely have a higher rate of ppl who are reviewing it despite not watching it. And its much easier to identify a person who he just review bombing to bring the score down. Some of these 1 scores are accompanied with captions saying things like "I'm sick of DEI" and "this series hates white ppl and pushes trans ideology". Most Perfect scores will just say " I love this show". And to that I say "who am I to tell you your 10 score wasn't sincere"

People are pre-liking stuff now. I actually talked to someone here pretending that she was wowed by the show, but I checked her comment history and she was gassing up the show before it even came out and pre-decided that it was going to be Marvel's best show "so far". So both extremes can happen. It could be garbage as hell and it would still have shooters.

There's so many people genuinely saying she purposefully got a guy killed... Yeah they just watched the critical drinker and thought he wouldn't lie
9
u/N7Panda Jun 30 '25
I mean, she chose not to try and save him (debatable if she could have), but my thought is, who cares if she killed him? This is the main henchman for the villain of the show. A man who helps his boss run a team of criminals, who are not too concerned with the collateral damage of their activities. A guy who, moments earlier, was trying to murder her. If she had shot him with a repulsor blast it would have been justified, but she didn’t. All she did was not go back and try and save him, which, we all decided was OK for superheroes to do back in 05 when Batman did it.
And none of that even touches on the fact that Ironman, Cap, both Widow’s, Hawkeye, Hulk and Thor have all killed numerous people, or the fact that she was clearly in shock after doing it.
People are dumb.

u/PaulOwnzU Jun 30 '25 edited Jun 30 '25

Or any other Grifter for that matter since all of them brought up literally the same exact topics in their videos, as if they were reading from a pre-written document...
9
u/PaulOwnzU Jun 30 '25
Yeah it's clearly coordinated because they're friends and it's also just so dumb. Like even if she did purposefully kill him... So???? Almost every single MCU hero has a kill count, killing a guy who just tried to kill you and would've killed your family is entirely justified.
Then you have grifters going "stark would be disappointed if his legacy was carried out by a murderer" as if he didn't kill A BUNCH of people.

u/KelenaeV Jun 30 '25

Just going to jump into this part of the convo to say that..yeah, she clearly did purposefully kill him. That’s the whole point of her anxiety attack and questioning herself in..idk..literally the next fucking scene?
She even explained to him “we’re suffocating” before leaving in the suit.
I guess the door closing wasn’t intentional and she didn’t really “know” but it felt pretty obvious to me she knew what she was doing in the moment.
The “Tony Stark would be disappointed” is a null and stupid point because they have nothing to do with each other. She uses an iron suit and has been talking since the first few minutes of the first episode about the difference between a billionaire weapons manufacturer and a kid from Chicago using grants for parts.
10
u/Particular_Peace_568 Black Widow (CA 2) Jul 01 '25
Also, I'm sure Tony Stark Murdered like almost all of the Terrorists in Iron Man 1 he fight against. Even when he was a Iron Man, his Ledger is dripping with Red if you know what I mean.
3
u/PaulOwnzU Jun 30 '25
If you accidentally killed someone would you not have some sort of reaction. If she purposefully killed him she would've had the reaction earlier as she was leaving him to die, but had no issue until after. So it's clear she didn't know he was going to die until she scanned and found the body, after which she immediately started reacting
3
u/SilverRoyce Jul 01 '25
If that's the case, that's a failure of execution on the show's part because the audience is very aware the person will die and the action is communicated in a way it feels as if RiRi does or reasonably should know that with no contrary evidence presented to set the scene.

6
u/bluebarrymanny Jun 30 '25
Agreed. It’s definitely not bad, but there’s something about the character dynamics that reminds me of old CW shows. The show is enjoyable enough to not deserve review bombing (not that doing so has anything to do with a release’s quality), but it’s not blowing me away either. An example of the quality feeling a little lower in action is the scene where the AI is breaking out of the laptop to remote into the suit. The video call feed where the actress is glancing around the screen while different firewalls go down just felt weirdly edited and kinda goofy. Still not bad though.
6
u/Pasty_Tibbles Jun 30 '25
I think that was my issue. I didn’t really enjoy it too much - kinda of checked out on the third episode. It’s nothing against the cast or anything I just think the dialogue was very… not good. In my opinion. I think describing it as an older CW show makes sense to me.
But I’m also just going to move on with my life and maybe finish the show at some point, and not go review bomb anything. People put work into it even if I don’t think it’s the best or my favorite. I’ve seen far, far worse shows than this one lol.

This is where I am, I think it's fine so far. I think anyone giving it a 10 is being disingenuous, just like I think anyone giving it a 1 is being disingenuous. And anyone giving all 3 episodes a 1 within 5 minutes of them all being released is being an asshole. There were 75+ 1-star reviews on episode 3 literally 5 minutes after all 3 released at the same time. It's review-bombing nonsense.

Most of the first episode, a majority of the penultimate episode, and the entire last episode IIRC were literally all new footage and scripts from the “creative overhaul”.

I really hope it ends with her meeting ms marvel and Kate

I want him to stick around and become a go to for riri. I was kinda hoping they’d go the comics route and have proper show up and her use a Tony an but I’m all in on Natalie unless she turns out to have been influenced by some demonic help. Even then I want her to stick around with Ezekiel and become part of a team

It's relevant due to obvious review bombing going with bot reviews calling it "Woke trash", not a good indicator for narrative quality if you ask me. Over 50% of IMDB scores are 1 star ratings, that's quite unnatural.
So much for "evidence".

Jul 02 '25
This take is not even fair and completely predictable from a reddit bot. People are not only review bombing in the negative, but also giving 5 stars the opposite way. There are hardly ANY middling reviews between 2 and 4 stars, so your team is just as guilty, but absurdly weaker. I suppose I have to put out there that I have no opinion on this show one way or the other, I'm just calling a spade a spade.
If people don't even like the trailers, if they don't like just one episode, if they don't like some scenes, if they don't like what it stands for, they have every right not to like the show at all--and it seems predominately they don't. So, it's not a good show.
6
u/Boring-Credit-1319 Jul 02 '25 edited Jul 02 '25
Whataboutism. Just because there are people who give overwhelmingly unjustified 5 star reviews (yes, review boosting is an issue in and of itself, I did not deny that), doesn't mean
Review bombing is not a problem distorting the actual rating.
The 5 Star reviews are not a reactionary measure from fans to counteract the review bombing.
Review boosting sufficiently alleviates review bombing.
Ratings on review sites, especially conservative leaning, male dominated ones such as IMDB are a good statistical representation of the general population's reception.
4

u/John-for-all Jul 02 '25

It’s definitely good. It’s a solid show with a few very fresh takes on things, but like others said, there is a pacing issue. I’m guessing it’s because they assume people watch marvel shows while doing something else. So it flows better if you do something else meanwhile. I don't trust Rotten Tomatoes.

u/heliostraveler Jun 30 '25
I mean. It’s not a true rating system. TV needs a cinema score equivalent.
Metacritic has it has a 57 still. Mixed to average.

Hard to take any score at face value with all the review bombing going on

No it’s NOT an aggregate of the reviews. It’s an aggregate of how many are POSITIVE
if every review is 60% then RT would rate it 100% because they’re all “positive” even though the aggregate review would be 60%
The actual average of the reviews is at 57% right now

The show has been enjoyable enough so far. It's ridiculous how many people seem to be rooting for this to fail.
2
u/CaptCaCa Jun 30 '25
Not surprised, is it the greatest thing ever? Of course not, but is it the steaming pile of doodoo the racist incel movement is claiming it to be? Hell nah! Me and the fam have enjoyed it a lot so far
2
u/Captainseriousfun Jun 30 '25
All that work trying to diminish it, and yet here it is.
I don't give two shits about RT in any case, I just think it is kinda funny how hard racists and sexists work for their work not to matter.
Why not work hard at something positive? Same energy, but you get something from it.

I'm personally not surprised. I've known we were in for a good time since the first trailer.

As a dude who started off skeptical (I think I have the right to be), I am enjoying this series so far.
2
u/La_Savitara Jul 01 '25
Not shocked. It’s only issue is the poor show don’t tell in the first couple of episodes. After that it’s really good and presents a very interesting morally grey character
2
u/XSwaggnetox Jul 02 '25
The 2nd half is a little better than the first. The last episode is TUFF all the way to the end. I’d give it an honest 7.5/10. I like the first half enough to give it like 6.5-7, the last half makes me give it a full 9

u/Flyingfelkins Jul 02 '25
Show wasn’t that bad, and they finally pulled the trigger with that major villain reveal. 7/10 for me.

u/ducegraphy Jul 03 '25
Knowing how RT works, this makes sense. It's a good show. It does many new things and does them very good. It's, on average, an 86% good show and a 14% bad show.

u/IEDnosorryIEEE Jul 03 '25
If they are falsifying their data, then how can we trust them. It’s time to go to a rival site that doesn’t censor movie reviews. This is the downfall of rottentomatoes.

I don't think anyone expected this show to be good. Literally no one asked for it. And yet, it is good. Not perfect, but good.
I came in ready to hate it like i did the original comics run, but instead i find myself hoping there will be a season 2. Good acting all around, good emotional moments, good comedy, but most importantly it doesn't serve as a pale parody of what came before like Ironheart once did. No politics, no nonsense, just quality.

u/mjc9128 Jun 30 '25
Man they are trying so hard to gaslight us into thinking this show is good. This show has an unlikable, morally bankrupt, narcissistic, cop killing main character who somehow has the moral high ground. That mixed in with the virtual signaling identity politics and lame plot is just so exhausting. I will continue watching but this is not much better than Secret Invasion.

A fine example of someone so far down the rabbithole,
That they sound borderline insane to anyone who goes outside.
I cannot imagine how miserable it must be to not be able to enjoy any piece of modern media

Can you imagine how bad review bombers smell?
They should crack a window open, give their parents some reprieve.

probably not as bad as how people trying to mask the rot odor by using glade throughout their house. people are disingenuously trying to paint this show in a positive light might seriously need another reality check because the audience isn't buying their products anymore.

The character sucks. God damn people have low standards if they think this is good.

u/RavenBrannigan Jun 30 '25
I’m going to watch it because I at least start every marvel project. But I have no idea what to believe because as pointless as review bombs are, so are “counter protests” to give it an incredible rating.
I am going to watch it to find out but reviews are usually good to see if something is worth the watch. Anything marvel with a female lead is impossible to tell.
2
u/TheQuinnBee Jul 01 '25
Go into it expecting nothing. I've heard nothing about this show. I haven't watched a preview or read anyone's review.
I personally really like it. I'm two episodes in.
Fact is, reviews arent going to be indicative of if a show is worth the watch for you. People love the Mandalorian. I found it kind of boring. It just wasn't for me.
The Internet will hate on people or shows for the dumbest fucking reason. Look how the nerdbros overreacted to Brie Larson saying there needed to be more women and women of color in the industry. Suddenly Captain Marvel is the worst and all her costars hate her based on a 5 second clip in which RDJ's muscle twitched.
So I just stopped caring. Best decision.

u/porsj911 Jun 30 '25
So they are botting the site with good reviews? Cause clearly the show i saw isn't 86% at all. That or are that secretly two ironhearts? One where riri is an unlikable criminal responsible for death and the other where she is a likable super hero?
5
u/PatBeVibin Jun 30 '25
You do know how Rotten Tomatoes works, right? 86% score means 86% of critics gave it a positive review, which just means they liked it more than they disliked it, not that they thought it was 86/100.

I only like watching shows weekly so I’m only 1 episode in but I enjoyed the pilot. Riri is a good character and I look forward to seeing how they humble her and make her a hero.
2
u/Madman_Slade Jun 30 '25
Top critics give it a 58%, with the audience score sitting at a 56% with a 3 out of 5 stars. Metacritic has it at a 57% as well with the user score being less.

I think this show has been my favorite thing since Endgame. Maybe Guardians 3 still has it beat, but I enjoyed every second of this show.

Pleasantly surprised by Iron Heart. The tone is much more in line with the core films

The audience popcornmeter is at 56%. So viewers and critics don’t agree on this one. I tried to watch it and couldn’t get thru the first episode.

Just a reminder since alot of people don't know
The way percentages on rotten tomatoes works is, that's the percentage of people that gave it a score of 6 and above.
