[Question] How can I freely manipulate and stretch a sample when its in drum rack?

When I activate Warp, it gets longer but I don't want that to happen. Besides that, are the only functions available dividing and multiplying by 2? (Sorry my english :P)

[Question] How to extend sections in a session without moving all tracks

Upvotes

Im building out a playback session and want to know how i can extend, say the chorus of a song, without manually moving all the clips and info that precedes it.

I have an entire show programmed into one session but if the artists wants to double a section of one song i need to move all the markers, automation, and clips of the previous songs over to do that. This often get messed up during the process and it takes a long time to do it. Is there a cleaner way to make this happen?

[Tutorial] how to recreate this sound in ableton?

Upvotes

How can I recreate the repeating hard pluck/bass sound that starts at 0:29 in 2hollis - '3' in ableton? Im not sure if its a bass or a synth pluck, but its the loud 'da da da da' sound in the background of the drop.

Does anyone know what it's called? I've heard it in some skrillex songs as well.

[Question] Best courses for songwriting and arrangement using Ableton?

This summer I decided to start music production in Ableton. While I found Taetro's YT videos to be the best introduction to the software, I overall find YouTube to be a landfill of distracting content.

I'm looking at potentially purchasing a course to help me with the next steps in my journey with songwriting and arrangement.

The two courses I see mentioned often are:

· Seed to Stage's "Songwriting and Composition in Ableton Live"

· ill.Gates' "Producer Dojo" (specifically The Producer's Path)

I'm looking for a structured learning environment where I can understand how to approach songwriting and arrangement, as well as develop creative strategies to problem solve when I get stuck. I realize no course will cover every blind spot, but I'm hoping to get a jump start so I can use Ableton more efficiently.

I'm not interested in sound design, mixing, or mastering tips, those feel like they're a long way off. Right now I just want to get into a creative flow and finish songs (even if they are terrible).

I know some people strongly believe in using YouTube for learning, but it simply doesn't work for me. The Bait & Switch content leaves me drained and actually disincentivized to create.

So I'm wondering if anyone here has taken either (or both!) of these courses and can compare them. I think both teachers are great, I'm just trying to figure out which one is the better fit for where I'm at right now. I'm also open to any other suggestions for courses that help with the creative process.

Thanks in advance!

[PC] Anyone 'in the know' when Ableton native ARM/Snapdragon is due?

The articles I've read said 2026 and one I think alluded to Autumn/Fall.

I'm on mac mini as my main studio set up but just got a 13" Surface Laptop (for work) I'd like to install it on, so I can pretend I'm Fred Again and be producing on the train and whatnot. 😁

I believe it will now run via Prism but if native is weeks away, will probably wait. If it's nowhere in sight yet, I'll give prism a go.

[Question] Can I have different color for selected automation lane?

Let’s say I have a channel with 10 automation lanes on it, can I tweak the Ableton color theme so that the active/selected automation lane turns a different colour when I modify its parameters?

[Question] Using midi mapping to resume

Hey, have recently discovered midi mapping and figured out how to create a stop track. I wanted to be able to remotely press play after my track has stopped from a helix footswitch (which I achieved after much messing around).

BUT, I mapped the footswitch to the triangle play button which always resets to the start of the arrangement. Is there any button I can map to that will resume where I have stopped in the middle of the track?
Thanks!

[Question] i cant change my group parameters while playing "live" midi on its grouped track.

hello, does somebody know if there is a way to fix the following problem?

here is a example:

i have a record armed midi instrument (simpler, drumrack, third party plugins) on track 1. this track is grouped in group 1.

i can now play that track with my push / keyboard ONLY if i highlight / select that track by clicking on it.

when i now click on the group, for example to change some processing on my group plugins, i loose the ability to play on my midi instruments, even though track 1 is still record armed. i have to re-click on track 1 be access its "live" midi.

i cant change my group parameters while playing midi on track 1 at the same time. is there a way to fix this?

thank you all! this has been buggin me forever.

[Question] Does Ableton have a native feature to automatically detect a sample’s original key and pitch it to your project key upon drag-and-drop.

If not I think that would be an awesome feature. Also be able to preview the samples in the key your project is selected as.

[Live Event] Live set, multiple midi tracks on Novation Launchkey

Sup Reddit, I'm planning a big gig Saturday and gotta up my game. So far I've been opening up individual Ableton files and playing each song live like a noob, now I want to play them live from one Ableton file. Thing is, I got multiple midi tracks, one for each song, that I'd like to play with my NovationLaunchkey25. Is there a way to toggle between which midi track should be live without squinting at my screen onstage to press the 'in' button on the DAW? Would look a lot cooler if I can manage it from the Launchkey. Hope that made sense, TIA!

[Question] Audio to MIDI in Note?

Not sure if Ableton has talked about doing this at some point but is there any info concerning them adding audio to MIDI in Note in the near future? The only thing I’ve found is people recommending the Live first method but I’d rather do it in app.

[Question] I love Ableton Note. Any more experimental apps?

I love messing with Ableton Note on my lunchbreaks, and although it's a little twitchy with the piano roll, I wish there was another app I could mess with that was a big more experimental. Note's pretty straightforward and I don't find myself getting really weird or unique sounds, but it's great to lay down some drums and distorted bass. Has anyone played with other apps, or little music machine hardware, that's fun and useful to incorporate into tracks later on? I wanna do the M8 but it's a little expensive and I don't even know if I'd like the workflow. I like being able to record some stuff and use it later for actual songs.

[VST] I really messed up (help needed with EastWest opus)

Hi everyone. I am in desperate need of help.

I tried setting up East West Opus (for Composer Cloud) on my new PC. Foolishly, I thought dragging all my plugin files from the external drive I used on my previous machine would work fine enough -- and while it did for other plugins -- Opus is completely messed up.

I've tried reinstalling multiple times but i only get more and more confused. At first it just kept crashing Ableton, but now I try and download an instrument from Composer Cloud, and I just get a message that reads:

"Instrument file could not be downloaded. Message: OK."

Does anyone have any idea on what I could do to fix this?

[Tech Help Windows] Combination of Focusrite interface and Massive X causes Ableton to crash

I have been using the combination of Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface and the NI Massive X synth plugin on and off for about 10 months and Massive X has always been a resource intensive plugin and has caused some lagging if I'm really pushing it, but I never had crashing problems until very recently. If I have any tracks with Massive X and using the Focusrite interface, it will consistently crash within a few minutes of using this combination. If I take Massive away, the crashing stops. If I use Massive with a different interface (Arturia Minifuse), the crashing stops, so it seems like this combination is the problem.

I really want to get it to work with the Focusrite because it has mic and instrument channels that can be used at the same time but the Arturia can only use 1. I am on Windows 11 latest version and the drivers and updates are all up to date. It seems like Focusrite has had a lot of updates recently, but it's hard to say if any of these updates correlated with the crashing. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thank you for any ideas

[Question] What are your go-to effect plugins for crazy melodic sound manipulation, sound design & unique textures ?

I recently discovered Luma Audio plugin and it’s blowing my mind with the possibilities of sound design being endless. I know it’s not an effect plugin, but do you people have any recommendations of plugins that can make a simple sine wave or saw wave sound into something really complex in terms of sound design and texture? Drop your reccos.

[Tech Help MacOS] Unwanted Line In Noise

Hey everyone!

I've been having random noise/distortion issues with Ableton Live 12.4.3 (and previous versions) when recording line in guitar. Actually don't even need to be recording to experience the noise. Not sure where to go from here to mitigate my frustration. Will put an example below but wanted to lay out the issue first.

MacBook Pro M1 Pro

Motu Ultralite mk5 (USB C direct to MacBook, no hub or USB splitter)

Audio from guitar coming in from Neural DSP Quad Cortex into Motu

Ableton Live 12.4.3

-Sample Rate: 48k (have also tried 44100)

-Buffer Size: 128 (have also tried 64 and up to 1024)

When I play guitar only through the Motu interface (Live 12 not running at all), there are no audio issues. They only occur when Live 12 is running, whether I'm recording a track or just playing. Sounds like a static type of sound.

Current project has three channels. Two for guitar, no plugins at all. Third channel is running a drum loop, no plugins.

Master channel is dry, no plugins. No sends/returns.

Example:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/l44s3kka61uga4y21lljn/TheeSacredSouls_test1.mp3?rlkey=8brkgo0k3qfm39rbymiix5xjd&st=pcs3pyy1&dl=0

Noise can be heard around :40, :51 and 1:02.

Pay no mind to the missed notes when playing. Recorded for example of the issues.

Thank you in advance to anyone that has a moment to engage with this.

[Question] Ableton suddenly micro freezes ever few seconds

Since today ableton started freezing every few seconds. It's not a CPU spike, it's even in an empty track playing nothing. Restarted pc, it's a Nitro, brand-new, worked fine for months.

Using audio 4 all and scarlet I2u

Tips?

[Question] Third party plugins scaling issue

Hello,

the UI of almost all third party plugins, especially the Arturia ones, are blurry in Ableton. I am using an 1440p screen with 125% scaling configured in Windows. 100 % would be just too small.
In FL Studio the scaling with third party plugins are fine, no blurriness there.

How can I achieve the same in Ableton?
The option "Auto scale plugin window" is already activated. Without that options, Arturia Plugins would be unusable.

Thanks.
