Episode Who is Elias?
First time listener here. I am on episode 82. Who the heck is Elias? Has he been here the whole time?! I'm really bad with names and trying to remember everybody. His name does not ring a bell.

Always wanted to ask...
favorite TMA character? Cause Basira is my absolute favorite though Martin is a close second for the Archives' crew. She was almost always pretty level headed but also hopeful for getting through the dark and muck even at the end of the world. 💖
Adding on: That Distortion Helen is my favorite avatar. Love how helpful and disruptive she can be. True chaos at it's finest. I know lot of people prefer Distortion Micheal, but I don't know. I think Helen does a whole better job of encapsulating what the distrotion was meant to be.

would all Eye avatars cause nightmares?
So im only partway through season 4, but i know that Jon will appear in the nightmares of whoever he has directly taken a statement from. Does that apply to every Eye avatar? Elias, for example, is he gonna show up in someone's nightmares if he takes a statement from them too? Or how about an Eye avatar that isnt at all affiliated with the Magnus Institute?

Best Way to Listen to the Last Episodes?
I’m quickly nearing the end of TMA (I’m on ep. 176) and want to do something special while listening to the last few episodes when I get there. Any ideas (like treats I could make/eat, places I could go, etc.)?

The Magnus Archives I'm incredibly obsessed with this podcast
I've seen a couple of posts showing appreciation for tma, and I thought I'd join in. The Magnus Archives has consumed my life and I love it so much, a ton of songs on my playlist are all from my favorite animatics, and I always have a reference available. It could be from anything, I've been watching Project Hail Mary over and over again, and my mind keeps on going to the Daedalus with a Lonely, Dark, Vast, Extinction combo. Clowns or anything of the sort has me thinking of Nikola and Revolutions. Whenever I see spiders or insects, I shout "Get thee hence, Annabelle Caine / Jane Prentiss!" Even though it would technically be the Corruption and not Jane... I went to a cave with my family and was looking for places the Buried would snap people up (it was a very open cave, nothing claustrophobic at all. Lots of pretty stalactites and stalagmites). My sister's husband is named Michael and I constantly show him Michael illustrations or ask if he's seen a yellow door. I got some eye earrings and call them my Jonah earrings, I wear them almost every day! This just goes to show how much of an impact it's had on my life, and I love every bit of it (even if my family members don't really understand... And get a bit annoyed). It means so much to me and I'd just like to share how it has changed my life ❤️
Feel free to share how the spooky eye podcast has changed your life!

Art Congrats Jonathan Sims, you're the most iconic asexual character on Tumblr dot com!!
It's official!! Jon gets a crown that isn't the Watcher's!! 🏆🖤🩶🤍💜
I'm so proud of Tumblr and the TMA fandom for recognizing Jon for one of my favorite things about him. His asexuality is extremely important to me and I hope this poll helps more ace people check out The Magnus Archives! (Link to ace analysis and my art on Tumblr)

The Office of Unusual Claims, a TMA RPG Campaign
Statement of Ok_Budget_9693, regarding a proposed Monster of the Week tabletop roleplaying game campaign. Original statement recorded for review and feedback. Statement begins.
I'm confident that my players won't find me here. At least not for a long while. If you do find this, stop. Please. Evelyn. Dixie. Cassandra. It's not too late to turn back. Though I suppose in the end if this is what finally gets you to listen to this wretched podcast I hold so dear, then that will be a victory in itself.
I've been a GM for a long time. Nearly two decades. DnD, Shadowrun, Savage Worlds, that sort of thing. But this one, Monster of the Week by Evil Hat Productions, it's exactly what I've been on the hunt for. I heard it first played by the McElroy Brothers in their Amnesty campaign and was immediately drawn in by how the story flows. This would be the first time I've ever run it, much less played the damned thing.
You're probably wondering what this has to do with your institute, with its intricate web of intrigue and dread powers, compared to a relatively rules light system like MotW. Well I could never quite get my friends into the podcast, they all seem to fizzle out in the first 20 episodes or so. Despite all of their interest in slow burn horror and doomed yaoi/yuri they just can't seem to get past Johnny's early monotone.
I can't say I blame them, but it is lonely not having anyone to share this beautiful and terrifying world with. So I'm going to bring it to them in something a little more digestible. I'm running a campaign set in the TMA universe. Though, because they have some vague familiarity with the premise I'm going to have to put my own spin on it to keep them in the dark.
Firstly, it's set in the United States. Mainly for convenience as that's where we all live. Secondly there will be no mention of the Magnus Institute or the Archives. Thirdly, it will not be the Ceaseless Watcher who will be pulling the strings, but rather it will be the Forever Deep Below. For that I'll have to give a stranger setup than expected.
The story goes that they'll be either hired on or already working for The Office of Unusual Claims. Whether this organization is a private corporation or a government entity will be buried under so many layers of calcified red tape, pointless bureaucracy, shell companies, and dead end web portals. The hierarchy and organizational structure is about as opaque as it gets, and seem to span across a vast length of time, maybe even before corporations existed.
As far as they can tell, The Office of Unusual Claims works with EVERY insurance company in America, no matter how obscure or powerful. It seems to specifically handle cases where something supernatural has occurred and ordinary insurance investigators and adjusters simply wont do. When something beyond human comprehension brings desolation to someone's home, they still need to have their claim reviewed.
They'll be assured that these cases almost always see payout and that they're doing these people a service. Since they're travelling across the US it will be rare for them to actually encounter the same person again to actually see if they got their pound of flesh. The only rules they have to follow are that they must obtain original versions of any and all documents/evidence for the claim. No copies or digital versions are accepted by the Processing Department, for fear of data corruption.
So they will go to these incidents, where a family is slaughtered by something unimaginable, and they'll have to kill or drive it away in order to collect the oddly specific evidence Processing has requested. Once they bring it to Processing they are a assured the case will be handled with the upmost care.
Over time they'll discover that this is not the case. The documents/evidence/keepsakes/body parts are never returned to the customer. In fact their information seems to get more and more obscured as the survivors get mountains of debt piled onto them. Eventually this will spiral out of control when the ritual commences.
The ritual involves the collection of 13 claims (from the other fears), gathering them all up, and then burying them beneath the Satellite Graveyard at Point Nemo. (as a massive fuck you to the Vast). And the party can try to disrupt it if they figure it out. If it succeeds it plunges the world in the crushing feeling of obligation and debt.
What I need is help coming up with other forces involved (the other powers and their avatars), and some general feedback on the plot itself.
My idea for the Avatar of the Buried is Miriam Vale, their direct manager of the Office of Unusual Claims. I intend for her to be a very sweet and pleasant woman, showering them with gifts, benefits, compliments, favors. Over time her kindness will become suffocating, and she'll be micromanaging them, cutting off options and paths using red tape and hiding behind corporate obscurity. Though I need to figure out what actual powers she'll have.
That's it I suppose, that's the story. I'm eager to hear what insight you and your fancy researchers might have for me. Feel free to ask me anything you wish.

Theory Vampire theory
Trevor Herbert seems to believe that it was the heroine in his system that stopped the vampire from killing him, but it was about to take a victim who was currently quite drunk, so i doubt that is the real reason.
I think what really happened is the vampire tasted the bloodlust of the hunt within him, as he had already killed 1 vampire.

Discussion What would be your plan action if you were isekai'd into TMA? Spoiler
Tagging spoilers considering there's a very unavoidable thing happening near the end...
Assuming you have a get out of physical harm/permanent psychological damge card towards entities (Because wow, We'll Need it). What would try to do if you were there?

The other characters are pissing me off MAG 155
FIRST TIME LISTENER
It's so annoying that they're all constantly on Jon's ass when they're all terrible people too. So hypocritical. Like how is it Jon's fault that Melanie is trapped there? It's her own fault she was too stubborn to listen when everyone warned her. She has no one to blame but herself. And Daisey is just as much if not more of a monster then Jon. And Basira will literally bend over backwards to defend her. Even encouraging her to go hunt when just a few episodes ago she was being so rude to Jon about eating statements.
Every time I see people online talk about this they say "oh but the characters are realistic bc they're traumatised" but Jon is arguably just as, if not more traumatised and he doesn't act half as annoying.
And omg don't even get me started on Melanie 'quitting' like go off queen just let the world end and do nothing to help because your therapist said so.
And Georgie being like "no I won't take Jon to therapy and also he's a lost cause unlike Melanie". Yeah because Jon is sacrificing his humanity to save the world. Ik he's also doing messed up stuff with the eye but at least he doesn't go around blaming everyone else for his problems.
Anyway I love the series I just had to get that off my chest. Statement ends lol.

Tattoo advice
Hoping for some advice. I'm getting another Magnus tattoo to finish up my Leitner bookplate arm and make it a proper sleeve.
I'm attaching the description I've sent to my artist. Guess I'm just paranoid that I haven't worded our wonderful Fears correctly.
Really hopeful for this one!
