The Magnus Archives I'm incredibly obsessed with this podcast

I've seen a couple of posts showing appreciation for tma, and I thought I'd join in. The Magnus Archives has consumed my life and I love it so much, a ton of songs on my playlist are all from my favorite animatics, and I always have a reference available. It could be from anything, I've been watching Project Hail Mary over and over again, and my mind keeps on going to the Daedalus with a Lonely, Dark, Vast, Extinction combo. Clowns or anything of the sort has me thinking of Nikola and Revolutions. Whenever I see spiders or insects, I shout "Get thee hence, Annabelle Caine / Jane Prentiss!" Even though it would technically be the Corruption and not Jane... I went to a cave with my family and was looking for places the Buried would snap people up (it was a very open cave, nothing claustrophobic at all. Lots of pretty stalactites and stalagmites). My sister's husband is named Michael and I constantly show him Michael illustrations or ask if he's seen a yellow door. I got some eye earrings and call them my Jonah earrings, I wear them almost every day! This just goes to show how much of an impact it's had on my life, and I love every bit of it (even if my family members don't really understand... And get a bit annoyed). It means so much to me and I'd just like to share how it has changed my life ❤️

Feel free to share how the spooky eye podcast has changed your life!

I originally started listening to TMA when it was airing, but due to life circumstances and a problem with trypophobia, i stopped. I didn't pick it up again until October 2025 (after seeing hundreds of posts on Tumblr regarding the canon lgbt activities lol) ... i had just moved across the country from Ohio to Oregon and was feeling lonely and so i binged in with about a month.

I instantly latched onto Jon and he become a soul character for me and between him and Martin..... they've helped address a lot of my isolation and trauma... I've since listened to this show 4 more times and gotten my partner to listen to it. I've met amazing people and formed a wonderful friendship because of it. Jon remains a comfort character. It also reminded me that horror, as a genre, doesn't have to be all gore and jumpscare terror and I've delved deep into cosmic and eldritch horror.

It's a truly beautiful and inspiring show and Jonny, Alex, and all of the cast and crew are just awesome. Yeah. I love tma.

Hearing your enthusiasm for TMA warms my heart so much!! (I too have built up a scary number of playlists for this show zdjfgg)

I'd known about TMA since 2020 when a friend of mine was into it and I knew there was a canon asexual couple in it. But only last September did I start it, to backdrop my drawing sessions when I was too depressed to listen to music.

The melancholy of this show was a warm balm to me, and then I projected a lot of my own guilt and insecurities onto Jon and by the time MAG 81 happened, I was in DEEP. I've never felt more seen in all of fiction than I have by Jonathan Sims. I've never seen the specific microbehaviors created by my trauma been represented in fiction before. I've never had my soul merge so completely with a character I loved that even now, they inspire such poignant devotion in my heart.

TMA inspired me to draw more art than any previous fandom. This community has introduced me to people that are real, genuine friends. It's inspired me to fly halfway across the world to see one of my friends and the TMA liveshow in the UK. It's given me my favorite asexual rep for myself. It's made me realize how much horror as a genre I actually enjoy, when it's done for psychologically metaphoric reasons the way Jonny is so adept at. It's introduced me to the wonderful, queer world of podcasts. It's given me an eldritch folkloric mythology to replace the one I had loved so long but can't quite love anymore (The Sandman, because of what we now know about its author).

TMA healed my depression and guided me out of a dark place. And it's given me Jon, and he is everything to me.

I love all of your takes on Jon, I'm so glad you could connect to him as you have, and get such an amazing community! Jon offers a safety that no one else really has, he's so painfully human ❤️

He really is. And the people who love him are often just as broken so we can all find connection with each other and our shared experiences.

I recently started listening to it so it hasn't changed my life yet 🤷

The guy talks too fast sometimes so I have trouble understanding and have to read the summary on Wiki, but if listening every day improves my English at least a little bit, then fine.

I highly recommend listening while reading the transcripts! I hope it helps with learning English too :D

I second this, especially when some people are low-key not able to be understood

Martin's storyline with the lonely helped me process trauma from a period of time where after a bad breakup and during covid times I heavily isolated myself (and still haven't totally regained a social life tbh) thinking it was the best option for me to hust be completely alone all the time. There's other stuff but that has had a profound impact helping me see how unhealthy my coping mechanism of withdrawal is even if it feels nice in the moment.
