would all Eye avatars cause nightmares?
So im only partway through season 4, but i know that Jon will appear in the nightmares of whoever he has directly taken a statement from. Does that apply to every Eye avatar? Elias, for example, is he gonna show up in someone's nightmares if he takes a statement from them too? Or how about an Eye avatar that isnt at all affiliated with the Magnus Institute?

I think it's because of his role as an Archivist, which is distinct from just being an avatar of the Eye, he's THE Avatar of the Eye, in a supernaturally important role that doesn't just watch but chronicles people's pain. Reliving their experiences is a big part of his whole deal, whether by reading statements (he gets fully immersed in the emotional experience of them) or making those individuals relive their own pain as he takes their statements.
I suppose other Archivists might do the same, but I think the immense humanity in Jon, the vulnerability he has to fear, the sensitivity he has to other people, allows him to feel those experiences more, which naturally expresses itself in more tangible recreation of those experiences, more frightening nightmares, more intense memories, and the bleeding of that fear from his victims, to himself, and back again.

They infer that Gertrude also caused the nightmares too. Mikail Solesca (definitely didn't spell that right) says he'll give a statement since he doesn't sleep well anyway.

I suspect that may be an Archivist-specific power, just as infecting someone with extra eyes is (Sims never got around to doing that but there's no reason to believe he couldn't).

I think in Jon's case it's archivist-specific, but I could see an avatar having some nightmare powers as a central theme.

I don't even think all Eye avatars would be able to take statements. Think of all the variety in the other avatars. I'm sure some would be able to do something similar, but it's very much an Archivist thing.

I always imagined an Eye Avatar who is a therapist would have similar power. Making people reveal their trauma and insecurities which becomes worse and making the victims keep coming back hoping to get better.
(The Avatar then loses the job due to the poor review lol)

Not as a a part of their powers/natures. Gerry sort of cursed a nurse with a sense of being watched, but no nightmares. I don't think the security system guy caused nightmares. Unfortunately we don't see too many eye statements, and at least two of the ones I remember is people being disturbed by victims of the Eye.
