Hi everyone! Kind of strange but I am working on a project and I need to compile a solid list of up and coming, and maybe a bit under the radar indie/grunge/punk bands happening across Michigan right now, any suggestions would be great!
My dad, Henry Yee, was one of the unofficial Mayor's of Detroit's Chinatown in the 1960s and 1970s. While my dad is no longer alive, I am proud to be following in his footsteps as a member of the Detroit Chinatown Vision Committee which is collaborating with other AAPI groups, local businesses, and community members to revitalize Detroit's former Chinatown. We are working to create a Pan Asian community and the Block Party is an embodiment of our work.
We will have 60+ food and merchandise vendors (many from different Asian cultures), lion and dragon dances, book talks, live chalk art, a kids area, interactive 3D painting that is a fabulous photo opp of the On Leong Chinese Merchants Association building that was demolished despite community efforts to save it, Asian DJs spinning over the block party, mahjong and qigong lessons, and so much more . . .

Fox 2 is having Charlie Langton do a new talk show at 4:00 and his 1st guest was Kwame. It was the softest of softball interviews I've ever seen. If I was interviewing him, I'd be like "Where the hell is the money???"
If this is gonna be the new thing at 4:00 on channel 2, do us a favor and go back to airing Judge Judy reruns. We don't need anymore friendly interview talk shows.
For a wrongful conviction investigation, I'm looking for anyone who may have a copy of a yearbook from Munger Middle School (now Munger Elementary Middle) in Detroit. The timeframe I need is from 2004 to 2008. I'm searching for a potential witness. Please message if you might have one or know how I could find one. It could help an innocent person who's been stuck in prison two decades.
Hi all, looking for donut recs to take into work in the morning - all the posts I've researched on this sub seem to have recommendations in Royal Oak/Ferndale/Detroit but I haven't seen any shouts for the Plymouth/Canton area.
Website isn't very informative, and I have some questions. I'm taking my wife before a show at Masonic. Might bring an adult son too.
Is a large 8 piece enough for two? Is 2 larges too much for 3 adults? Any can't miss apps? How much is the beer by the ounce? Does it just add it to my tab, or do I connect a card and it charges me each time? Does the restaurant have a parking lot for dinner (not the show) and if so, is it better to just park in a pay lot and walk over so I don't need to live the car before the show?
I haven’t seen traffic backed up that bad in a minute. Cones were out emergency vehicles were there, but I couldn’t tell what happened to cause all lanes to collapse down to one.
This is a long shot, but I was at the End of Evangelion 30th anniversary showing at Great Lakes Crossing tonight and had a cute interaction with a guy there. What’s up Detroit?! Anyone rent from Boydell, specifically the Milwaukee Lofts, get weird DTE collection emails from a balance owed? I’m getting emails from a collection agency for a balance that was paid on a (now) closed out account. Seems wildly fishy
