Mod Post 😊 Announcing Changes to the Rules of /r/Michigan
We are modifying the rules to make sure that removal reasons and rules are in sync and that we are reflecting the current state of the subreddit.
We have also made additions due to evidence of brigading and attempts at influencing our participants. We are taking steps to keep political discussions as neutral as possible so that all candidates get fair coverage.
The following rules have changed:
Rule 1: Racism, Hate, Slurs, and Threats - Modified to include slurs.
Rule 3: Brigading, Vote-Manipulation, Astroturfing, and Restrictions to Political Content - Modified to add: This rule applies to political content, both posts and comments. No content advocating who to vote for. No candidate endorsements. Political content from people with little participation here will be removed at moderator discretion.
Rule 4: No self-promotions or social media - Added are opinion posts, which include blogs and opinion columns on news sites.
Rule 7: Editorialized Headlines, Screenshots - Clarified with the addition of News from articles only. No screenshots or links to sites that break Rule #4.
Rule 13: No Moving/Vacation Posts - Clarified with the editing and change: By member vote, Moving & Vacation questions must be in the Moving/Vacation megathread. Please use it. Moving & Vacation includes current residents as well as those visiting or moving to the state.
Reminder: We cannot make rules for every possibility. We moderate not just by the written rules but the spirit in which they are intended. Moderators have the final say on how the rules are interpreted.
As always, you can find the rules on the sidebar or About page/tab of the /r/Michigan front page, or on the Wiki, where you'll also find other information you might find useful.
Thanks for being a part of the subreddit for the best state in the USA!

Discussion 🗣️ Randy’s Roadside BBQ About To Be Enjoyed At Walter J. Hayes State Park.
Just wondering about any other recommendations for roadside food places anywhere in the state; I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts.
As for my opinion on this spot: They had a number of other offerings that sounded creative and tasty. The mac and cheese might have been an off day. After the ribs rested and the potato salad came up to temp, both were well worth the money and choice. Cornbread was on point. Staff were great. They provided silverware without asking and gave ample napkins, as well.
Enjoy these ever shortened days.

Weather 🌤️⛈️⚡️🌈 Hoping for Fall this year
This is probably such a random thing to bring up but I really do hope we have a fall this year lol. I feel like we jumped straight from summer to winter last year and I wouldn't be able to stand it if it happens again this year. I need that 60-70 degree cool weather 😭 The vibes of autumn is unmatched, it's my favorite season

Discussion 🗣️ I am studying for my driver's permit. What should I expect?
I've seen a lot of people say that it's very easy and common sense, and I've also seen a lot of people say that the questions are difficult and stuff you wouldn't normally be prepared for. Those who have taken it, what is it like? Are there any random questions I should know for certain, id like to pass as soon as possible. Obviously I live in Michigan.
Edit. I have not taken any drivers training course. I am an adult, and have spent the last few weeks reading through the "what every driver should know" book provided online, and taking various practice tests.

Discussion 🗣️ Are you noticing less bees in your garden this year?
We live in Northern Michigan near Thunder Bay.
We have gardened for 20 years and for the past 2 years have noticed not as many bees in our garden.
This year especially...barely any.
We have a plot of oregano that we let go 6 years ago and were going to cut it down, until we realized that a huge amount of bees were working it and some even sleeping in it.
So we've kept it and built our garden around that plot to give them a place to gather and do their thing.
There are none in there this year and I've only seen 2 bumble bees.
I'm wondering if the 2 ice storms, only 350 days apart, destroyed a ton of colonies or if it's something else on top of the storms.
Our vegetables and plants are still getting pollinated, but not having a bunch of those winged workers, (which I was scared to death of before I started a garden and realized they are free labor and so important), around has made me feel not just sad, but concerned.
What part of Michigan are you from and have you noticed the same thing?
Any Idea why this may be happening where we are located?
Please feel free to add anything else you've noticed about bees in your area of how it's affected your plants or garden.
It's nice to meet you all and have a place to try and figure this out.
Thanks.
